Study of controlled diffusion stator blading. 1. Aerodynamic and mechanical design report
Pratt & Whitney Aircraft is conducting a test program for NASA in order to demonstrate that a controlled-diffusion stator provides low losses at high loadings and Mach numbers. The technology has shown great promise in wind tunnel tests. Details of the design of the controlled diffusion stator vanes and the multiple-circular-arc rotor blades are presented. The stage, including stator and rotor, was designed to be suitable for the first-stage of an advanced multistage, high-pressure compressor
Current applications of hyperspectral remote sensing in the discrimination of Australian Eucalypt species
hyperspectral remote sensing provides detail on biophysical variables related to forest ecosystem processes useful for tracking and predicting structure and function of vegetation considerable potential of laboratory spectrometry and near-range work in the field to derive stress indicators and changes in cholorphyll content has been demonstrated that includes a range of studies conducted on unique Australian vegetation types
Preliminary flight evaluation of an engine performance optimization algorithm
A performance seeking control (PSC) algorithm has undergone initial flight test evaluation in subsonic operation of a PW 1128 engined F-15. This algorithm is designed to optimize the quasi-steady performance of an engine for three primary modes: (1) minimum fuel consumption; (2) minimum fan turbine inlet temperature (FTIT); and (3) maximum thrust. The flight test results have verified a thrust specific fuel consumption reduction of 1 pct., up to 100 R decreases in FTIT, and increases of as much as 12 pct. in maximum thrust. PSC technology promises to be of value in next generation tactical and transport aircraft
Evaluating and developing an information literacy programme for MBA students
Massey University has the longest continually-running Executive MBA programme in New Zealand which is specifically designed for managers who have substantial professional and managerial work experience (Massey University, 2016). Studying part time over 25 months, students learn how to be successful in senior leadership roles in the public or private sector. Business librarians at Massey University have been involved for more than 15 years in delivering information literacy sessions for this programme during their orientation weekend. This research provides a case study focusing on evaluating the “one-shot” library instruction approach used for 2015 and 2016 cohorts. Survey data supports findings of other studies that as students transition to postgraduate study, embedded and discipline specific library support is needed.falsePublishe
