Echocardiographic diagnosis of ruptured aneurysm of sinus of valsalva: Case report

    No full text
The ruptured aneurysms of sinus of Valsalva are relatively rare and can easily be diagnosed by echocardiograpy. A 20-year-old woman with sudden onset of dyspnea, precordial discomfort and tachycardia due to ruptured right sinus of Valsalva aneurysm into the right ventricular outflow tract is described in this case report. A clear echo-free zone arising from the dilated right sinus of Valsalva and herniation of the tips of aortic wall were visualised in two dimensional echocardiographic examination. Color flow and Doppler echocardiographic studies showed an abnormal flow from the sinus into the right ventricular outflow through that zone. Cardiac catheterisation and aortography confirmed the exact diagnosis
