    Developing a model of soft-skill teaching for civil engineering students

    An observation shows that civil engineering students’ soft skill is still low. It is characterized by their poor sociability and low positive attitude toward dealing with problems and challenges of life. For students to have various aspects of soft skill, a study was conducted to develop a model of soft-skill teaching that would meet the criteria of validity, effectiveness, and practicality. The research and development referred to Richey & Klein approach, which is: (1) developing a model; and (b) validating a model. The validation process was conducted in two phases, namely internal validation and external validation. The internal validation of the model and its components was conducted by experts in educational technology, vocational education, and evaluation. On the other hand, the external validation was conducted in the form of small groups and of large groups which involved 41 students and a member of the Department of Civil Engineering Board. The data analysis was performed in two phases: the developmental phase and the testing phase. The analysis in the development phase was conducted by means of the qualitative approach, while the analysis in the testing stage was conducted by means of the quantitative approach; the two phases should be undergone to analyze the model validation and the trial results. These phases would also be undertaken by the experts. The results of the study show that the model of soft-skill teaching developed for the students of the department of civil engineering had been able to meet the criteria of validity, effectiveness, and practicality

    Pengembangan Model Pembelajaran Soft Skills Mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan, Fakultas Pendidikan Teknologi dan Kejuruan

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui proses pembelajaran yang selama ini berlangsung di Prodi Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan (PTB), (2) mengungkap proses pengembangan model pembelajaran soft skills mahasiswa prodi PTB, (3) menguji validitas, praktikabilitas dan efektivitas model pembelajaran soft skills mahasiswa prodi PTB FT UNP. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan menggunakan design and development research dari Richey and Klein, yang merupakan gabungan dari: (1) pengembangan model, dan (2) validasi model. Proses validasi dilakukan dalam dua tahap yaitu validasi internal dan validasi eksternal. Validasi internal dilakukan terhadap model dan komponen-komponen model oleh pakar, yang terdiri dari pakar teknologi pendidikan, pakar pendidikan kejuruan, dan pakar evaluasi. Sedangkan validasi eksternal dilakukan dalam bentuk uji coba kelompok kecil dan kelompok besar, yang melibatkan 41 orang mahasiswa dan satu orang staf pengajar prodi PTB. Analisis data dilakukan dua tahap, yaitu pada tahap pengembangan dan uji coba. Analisis pada tahap pengembangan model dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dan analisis kuantitatif dilakukan untuk menganalisis data hasil validasi model oleh para pakar dan hasil uji coba. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa:(1) selama ini prodi PTB belum memiliki model pembelajaran yang dapat mengembangkan soft skills mahasiswa, (2) pengembangan model pembelajaran soft skils mahasiswa PTB dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yang terdiri dari tahap pra pengembangan, tahap pengembangan dan tahap validasi, (3) model pembelajaran soft skills mahasiswa prodi PTB yang dikembangkan ternyata memenuhi kriteria valid, efektif dan praktis

    Evaluasi Fondasi Sumuran pada Proyek Pembangunan Gedung RSUD Kabupaten Padang Pariaman

    RSUD Padang Pariaman melengkapi fasilitas kesehatan untuk peningkatan kualitas pelayanan dengan membangun Gedung NICU, PICU dan HCU. Gedung RSUD Kabupaten Padang Pariaman menggunakan fondasi sumuran. Fondasi sumuran yang digunakan ada empat (4) tipe dengan diameter 1 meter dan kedalaman yang bervariasi. Jenis tanah pada lahan pembangunan ini ialah jenis tanah lempung, yang dari data boring diketahui bahwa lapisan tanah keras (NSPT≥ 40) tidak ditemukan sampai kedalaman -30 meter. Penelitian ini dilakukan  untuk mengevaluasi daya dukung fondasi sumuran terhadap variasi kedalaman fondasi sumuran akibat beban vertikal dan horizontal bangunan Gedung RSUD Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. Hasil perhitungan daya dukung ijin dari 3 tipe fondasi sumuran menggunakan Metode Reese dan O’Neill (1989) dan Metode Meyerhof (1963) hanya satu fondasi yaitu tipe PC yang mampu menahan beban dari bangunan Gedung RSUD Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. Daya dukung ultimit ijin fondasi sumuran metode Reese dan O’Neill (1989) pada tipe P1 sebesar   kN;  , tipe P3 sebesar  170,11 kN;  257,29 kN, dan tipe PC sebesar  1227,96 kN;  1742,967 kN dan pada Metode Meyerhof didapatkan nilai daya dukung ijin fondasi sumuran tipe P1 sebesar 151,831kN, tipe P3 sebesar 72,29 kN, dan tipe PC sebesar 447,854 kN.</jats:p

    Jobsheet learning media is designed to improve student learning outcomes so that students can understand the overall material provided and help learn independently. This research aims to develop a  Jobsheet learning medium in the course of Stone and Concrete Work Practices Building Engineering Education Study Program that is valid, practical, and effective. This research uses Research and Development (R&amp;D)method with 4-D development model. The subject of the study was a building engineering education student who took a course in Working Practice of Stone and Concrete Semester January-June 2019. The results obtained in this study are as follows:(1) produce jobsheet learning media    (2) Validity of Jobsheet learning media,  declared valid on the content aspect with a value of   0.83 and valid on the aspect of media format with a value of 0.89,  (3) Practicality of  jobsheet learning media based on two responses lecturers expressed very practical with a percentage of 89.92% and based on  15 responses students expressed very practical with a percentage of 85.03%, (4)  Jobsheet learning media, otherwise effective can improve the knowledge aspect of students who use  Jobsheet seen from student learning outcomes and effectively improve aspects of student skills seen from results and practice reports. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that  jobsheet learning media has been valid, practical and effective as a teaching material in the course of Working Practice of Stone and Concrete.</jats:p

    The research objective is to determine the competencies needed by productive teachers to draw with software so that graduates have the competencies desired by the business world and the industrial world. Descriptive qualitative research methods. The data in this research are descriptive narrative. Data sources from interviews, observations and documentation. The resource persons consisted of planning and supervision consulting firms, lecturers majoring in building engineering education at Padang State University and teachers teaching drawing with software at SMK N1 Padang and at SMK N1 SUMBAR. Data collection techniques with interactive and non-interactive. Data analysis techniques using qualitative techniques. Data validity is done by Source Triangulation. The results of the analysis: The teacher must master the science of drawing, cost estimation, time, quality and K3. The teacher must motivate and explain to graduates drawing with software how the work environment work environment. The teacher must teach good communication ethics and soft skills. The teacher must follow the development of software and also master its use. Teachers must be able to use IT to add references and self-development.</jats:p

    Development of Fourth Industry Oriented Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics Learning Devices 4.0

    The ability of modern industrial work must be mastered by vocational engineering students, therefore it is important to develop learning tools that are oriented to the fourth industry. This study assesses the development of mechatronics learning tools that are arranged based on the abilities that must be possessed by students to work in the fourth industrial era using the IDI model. Data was collected from the validity, practicality and effectiveness tests on the programmed subjects in 2019. Learning activities carried out during 16 meetings to produce a smart factory (prototype). Analysis shows that learning tools are developedit is valid, then the response of teaching staff shows the criteria are very practical and based on the response of students also in the category of very practical. The findings, an increase in students' understanding of the value of the end of the semester, but they have to struggle even more to obtain more optimal results. Besides, the learning device also forms the general ability of the learner, the learning communicative, collaborative, innovative, creative, leadership and entrepreneurship that observed during the process of learning to walk</jats:p

    The Development of a Blended Learning Model by using E-Book (BLME) on the Subject of Basic Programming

    The researchers conducted direct observation at the State Polytechnic Creative Media PSDD Medan. The object of the research includes learning on the subject of Basic Programming. The researchers found several phenomena including: 1). The subject of Basic Programming is a subject in which the material guides students to think logically in solving problems through algorithms in the form of coding (instructions). 2). Learning set used the textbook. 3). Teaching and learning process was conducted conventionally. The lecturer delivered the material in the textbooks to the students, the conclusion of the material was written on the white board. 4). Tools used on the subject of the Basic Programming were the C ++ programming language. Based on the phenomenon, the researchers found several problems including: 1). Low skill and the students had not mastered the material that has not been achieved in learning the subject of basic programming. 2). Students did not respond when interacting in question and answer session, which impacted the learning process become non-interactive. 3). Independence and active role of students in learning the subject of basic programming had not been seen because learning was lecturer centered. 4). Learning model that was centered on the lecturer made the students unable to think creatively and solve new problem presented by the lecturer on the subject of basic programming. Based on the explanation above, in this research, the researchers developed a learning model used in learning the subject of Basic Programming that is a blended learning model using an e-book integrated with the Learning Management System (LMS).</jats:p
