    Identification Pseudomonas aeruginosa by 16s rRNA gene for Differentiation from Other Pseudomonas Species that isolated from Patients and environment

    Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common and major opportunistic human pathogen, its causes many and dangersinfectious diseases due to death in some timesex: cystic fibrosis , wounds inflammation , burns inflammation , urinary tract infection , other many infections otitis external , Endocarditis , nosocomial infection and also causes other blood infections (Bacteremia). thereforebecomes founding fast and exact identification of P. aeruginosafrom samples culture very important.However, identification of this species may be problematic due to the marked phenotypic variabilitydemonstrated by samples isolates and the presence of other closely related species. To facilitate species identification, we used 16S ribosomal DNA(rRNA) sequence data toidentify genus- and species-specific 16S rRNA signature sequences,its account a stable part of the geneticcode. Based on these sequences we designed simple, rapid, and accurate PCR assays that allow the differentiation of P. aeruginosa from Pseudomonas species and other pathogen genus ,also this test considered as the most specific than the other diagnostic tests like API (20) which give 70% while the 16SrRNA test give more than 90 %

    Oxidative stress has received a considerable scientific attention as a mediator in the etiology of many human diseases. Oxidative stress is the result of an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants. Cells can be damaged by free radicals that are considered to play a main role in the aging process and diseases development. Antioxidants are the first line of defense against the detrimental effects of free radical damage, and it is essential to maintain optimal health via different mechanisms of action. Types of antioxidants range from those generated endogenously by the body cells, to exogenous agents such as dietary supplements. Antioxidant insufficiency can be developed as a result of decreased antioxidant intake, synthesis of endogenous enzymes, or increased antioxidant utilization. To maintain optimal body function, antioxidant supplementation has become an increasingly popular practice through improving free radical protection. In this chapter, we first elucidate the oxidative stress, and then define the antioxidant and its categories. Finally, introduce the antioxidants mode of actions for cell protection from free radicals

    Preparation of Novolac composites with improved properties for disk brake systems

    The effect of composition and the dry and wet operating conditions on the adhesive wear resistance of polymeric composite materials were studied in this work. The composite are designed to be used as pads for disc brake system of heavy vehicles. The composites were prepared with weight ratios, Ψ, in the range: 60-90% using the dry method. The composites were reinforced with a number of fillers and friction improvement agents like:  silicon carbide, carbon fibers, alumina, etc at various ratios to establish diverse properties in comparison with Novolac resin. The used ceramic disc brake materials were also utilized in this preparation at certain weight ratios as one of the components of the composites. The wear resistance measurements indicated that a ratio higher than 70% will reduce the hardness of the disc material. Thus, composites with 60% Novolac weight ratio, which indicated the best performance, were prepared with 14-22% of the hardener, the HMTA. The study revealed that the abrasion rate decrease with the reinforcement of the Novolac, i.e., increase in abrasion resistance, especially when the carbon fibers ratio were increased from 1.5 to 3.0%. Meanwhile, the increase of the hardener resulted in increase in the in wear resistance. Further, it appears that the rate of abrasion changes from moderate to in accordance with operating conditions like the applied load, operating time and sliding distance. To mimic the real application conditions, the specimens were subjected to rain water by spraying for 2 min during operation. The wetting caused a lowering of the wear resistance. However, in comparison with the available disc brake materials, our specimens proved either comparable or better performance. Keywords: Novolac composites, wear resistance, brake pads, rain water

    Psychological Stresses and the Needs of Mothers Of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, And The Relationship between Them in the United Arab Emirates

    The present study aimed to identify the sources and the levels of psychological stresses for mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It also aimed to identify their needs and its degrees in the United Arab Emirates, as well as to define the relationship between psychological stresses and their needs. The study sample consisted of (174) mothers of children with (ASD). Their children were enrolled in one of the rehabilitation of the disabled centers which were under the supervision of the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Society Development. The sample has been chosen in stratified random way. Two tools prepared by the researcher were applied: “The Psychological Pressure Scale” and “The Needs’ Questionnaire” for mothers of children with ASD, from December 2015 to March 2016. The study used a descriptive correlative approach to answer the questions of the study. The results showed that the characteristics of the child’s behavior stress came in the first place, followed by emotional stress in the second place, while the lowest level of the stress was the behavioral and mental stress. The results also showed a high degree of needs for the mothers. “Societal needs” came in first place. It was followed by “knowledge and training” needs in the second place. “Social needs” came in third place while “Financial needs” came in the last place. Results also appeared a significant statistical positive correlation between stress with its five types, and needs with its four types at of 0.01 or 0.05 level of significance. Based upon the above results, the researcher provided some recommending and suggestions

    Infantile haemangioendothelioma of the parotid gland: Case report and review of literature

    Haemangioendotheliomas (HAE), although rare but are the most common parotid gland tumours in children. We report a 4-month-old girl who presented with a progressively enlarging right sided facial swelling overlying the angle of the mandible. An Ultrasound of the lesion and a computed tomography (CT) scan of the head and neck was carried out which revealed a large lesion within the right parotid gland. CT scan further demonstrated a direct communication with the right external carotid artery and external jugular vein. Considering the clinical course and radiological findings, there was sufficient evidence to avoid any invasive testing.     Effect of An Educational Intervention About Occupational Safety on Knowledge and Practices of Male Students in Technical Mechanical Secondary Schools in El-Behira Governorate

    Background. Occupational health and safety is one of the most important aspects of human concern. The Aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of educational intervention about occupational safety on knowledge and practice of male students in technical mechanical secondary schools in El-Behira governorate. Hypothesis: Technical Mechanical secondary school male students who engage in occupational safety intervention will demonstrate higher level of knowledge and practice than those who are not . Material and Methods: Quasi-experimental pre/post–test research design. Settings: the study was conducted in four technical mechanical secondary schools in El-Behira governorate. Subjects: the study was carried on 280 students (140 were cases and 140 were control).Data collection tools: data were collected using three tools: structured self-administered questionnaire, Students' knowledge regarding occupational safety and observation check list regarding safety measures practices in the training workshops.Results: conveyed that less than half (46.4%, 47.9%) of both the study and the control group respectively were aged between   16 to less than 17 years. All the study group and the control one had poor knowledge regarding occupational health and safety before conduction of the educational intervention, whereas after implementation of the educational intervention, more than three quarters of the study group (85.7%) had good knowledge whereas the vast majority of the control group (99.3%) still had poor knowledge  . There was a statistically significant relation between the department and the total knowledge score of the study group (X2= 14.150 , P=0.007*).Conclusion: The educational program is successful in attaining its aim of positively improving knowledge, and practice of the study group   about Occupational Health and Safety.Recommendations: this study recommend the necessity of provision of personal protective equipment to the students in the school workshops and integrating occupational safety topics in their curriculum.     Use of platelet-rich plasma in treating low back pain: A review of the current literature

    Low back pain (LBP) is a common problem encountered by physicians. It is a considerable cause of morbidity and socioeconomic loss and is one of the most expensive musculoskeletal disorders. Conventional treatments include bed rest, analgesics, therapeutic exercises, lumbar or caudal epidural corticosteroids, and surgery. Several new biological therapies are being investigated for use in LBP and one of these is platelet-rich plasma (PRP). In this article, we summarize the current literature published on PRP concerning its composition, classification, and application in LBP. We believe our review will prove useful to clinicians and academics alike, interested in new developing therapies for LBP

    Effect of Biotitania and Titania Addition on Bioactivity and Antibacterial Properties of Calcium Silicate Cement

    Introduction: Nanoparticles are gaining more interest in dentistry for their antimicrobial, physical as well as other properties. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding two types of nanoparticles (NPs) on calcium silicate hydraulic cement’s (CSHC) unique bioactivity and antibacterial properties. Methods and Materials: Biotitania/AgCl NPs were synthetized and characterized for its morphology, types of formed functional groups and crystalline AgCl using field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) equipped with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA). The former NPs and commercial titania (TiO2) NPs were added (0.5, 1.5 and 3-weight %) to commercial CSHS powder. A total of 140 disk-shaped specimens (10 mm×1 mm) were prepared (seven material groups per each test in addition to the eighth cell control group) to evaluate cell viability and alkaline phosphatase activity (ALP) after 3 and 12 days, respectively. All were incubated with mesenchymal stem cells. Antibacterial efficacy against Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) was evaluated through the bacterial growth curve slopes while being in direct contact with the tested material groups for 18 h. Results: Addition of all NPs percentages had no significant effect (P>0.05) on cell viability in comparison to positive control CSHC. Commercial TiO2 NPs (0.5 weight %) had statistically significant lower values (P≤0.05) for bacterial growth curve slope. However, addition of all NPs percentages had significantly improved (P≤0.05) the ALP activity of CSHC with the most prominent effect to 3-weight% biotitania/AgCl NPs. Conclusion: Based on this in vitro study, addition of biotitania/AgCl NPs up to 3-weight% significantly improved the bioactivity of CSHC without having a significant negative impact on its antibacterial efficacy. Interestingly, the addition of commercial TiO2 even in small amounts can significantly improve CSHC antibacterial efficacy

    Risk Factors and Nutritional Assessment among Early Adolescent Girls with Iron Deficiency Anemia in Damanhour City

    Background: The physical and physiological changes that occur in adolescents place a great demand on their nutrition and put them at risk for Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA). Anemia in the adolescence causes reduced physical and mental capacity and diminished concentration in work and educational performance, and also poses a major threat to future safe motherhood in girls. Aims: this study aimed to identify the risk factors for IDA among school girls and to assess nutritional status of girl students with IDA in Damanhour city. Design: A case control study design was adopted to carry out this study. Setting: the study was conducted at 1 urban and 8 rural preparatory school girls. Subjects: The total number of the randomly selected girls was 240 preparatory school girls (120 girl student as cases who have anemia and the same number of girls recruited in control group). Tools: data was collected using three tools; tool (I) entitled adolescent girl's students profile structured interview questionnaire, tool (II) entitled nutritional practices of adolescent girl student's, and tool (III) namely anthropometric measurements tool. Results: according to multivariate analysis logistic regression girls’ students with low parent education, rural residence, and those with intestinal parasite infection were identified as predictors of IDA. Moreover, poor eating habits and menstrual history also played a significant role in the development of anemia. The relationship between academic performance and anemia was very significant in this study. Recommendations: Intensify supplementation and or food fortification programs to include iron for school age group. Conduct school’s breakfast program, carry out laboratory investigations for anemia, develop school nutrition education programs in curriculum and conduct national nutritional situation analysis survey.     Impact of Educational Program About Earphones Hazards and Healthy Hearing on Knowledge, Perception and Practices of Students in Zagazig University

    Background: The potential for hearing loss among younger generations is escalating every year. Likewise, the use of earphones has been thought to degrade a college student’s academic performance. Hearing loss is an issue among the younger age group requires immediate attention. Aim: In light of this, this study was conducted in order to illustrate the impact of educational program about earphones hazards and healthy hearing on knowledge, perception and practices of students in Zagazig University. Design: A quasi-experimental pre/post–test design was adopted to carry out this study. Setting: the study was conducted at faculties affiliated to Zagazig University Subjects: The total number of the randomly selected students was 1532  Tools: data was collected using three tools; tool (I) A self-administered questionnaire entitled data about socio-demographic characteristic, tool (II):A students’ knowledge, perception and practices questionnaire:, and tool (III) hearing loss designed questionnaire. Results: put on show that approximately less than two thirds (64%) of studied students used  earphones, there was a marked improvement in participant’s knowledge, perception and practices regarding earphones hazards and healthy hearing post implementation of educational program, what's more, health problems were declined after implementation of the program,  Conclusion: students had knowledge gaps regarding hazards of earphones and hearing health, the education  program had positive impacts on knowledge, perception  and practices of the studied students. Recommendations: Establishing national campaigns to promote knowledge about the hazards of earphones among adolescents and young adults and raising parents’ awareness through national and social media to shed the light on hearing health.
