    The Importance of Needs Analysis in Materials Development

    There is an issue which can be the subject of a further research that is: most learners of EFL do not actually have any needs at all. They are learning English because they have to rather than because they want or need to. This is particularly true of young learners, who are not going to need to communicate in English for many years to come (if at all). In such cases, the teacher is unlikely to be able to create much intrinsic motivation to learn English in general but can create the need in an engaging classroom task in which the students need to find a way of communicating in English in order to successfully complete the task. This can lead to readiness for acquisition provided the students are motivated by the teacher to read extensively as well. Thus, there should be more place for needs analysis because when we do not run the first principle to create and produce better materials, the rest will always be under great doubt. Every new teacher should consider starting their year applying needs analysis in small scales and then decide what the best is for themselves and their learners

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih sulitnya masyarakat sekitar untuk mendapatkan pemenuhan jaringan air bersih PDAM karena instalasi jaringan air bersih PDAM di kelurahan tersebut belum sampai ke kelurahan tersebut mengingat di kelurahan tersebut memiliki jumlah penduduk yang padat sehingga pemenuhan kebutuhan air bersih cukup tinggi. Dari hasil penelitian ini memunculkan hasil analisis yang mana diketahui bahwa jumlah kebutuhan air bersih di kelurahan tersebut pada saat sekarang dan 5 (lima) tahun ke depan sekiranya pihak PDAM Kabupaten Bombana sudah dapat pengetahui dan merealisasikan pembangunan instalasi jaringan air bersih

    Penelitian ini menganalisis dan menentukan tingkat pencemaran merkuri (Hg) di perairan Teluk Kao Halmahera Utara. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei observasi wawancara dan pengambilan sampel air dengan cara purposive sampiling sedangkan untuk analisis air dan sedimen mengunakan alat spektrofotometer penyerap atom (atomic absorption spectrophotometer, AAS). Analisis kualitas air sungai, air laut di perairan Teluk Kao Halmahera Utara untuk pagi dan sore dengan nilai sebesar 0,004 mg/L - 0,0038 mg/L. Sedangkan kandungan merkuri (Hg) untuk sedimen pagi dan sore dengan nilai 0,0032, mg/L - 0,0076 mg/L. Berdasarkan dari hasil tersebut bahwah mutu air sungai Kobok dan Taolas di perairan Teluk Kao Halmahera Utara sudah tidak bisa dikonsumsi sesuai Peraturan Pemerintah Pengelolaan air minum secara konvensional (kelas 1), 0,001 ppm, (kelas 2 dan 3), 0,002 ppm dan (kelas 4). 0,005 ppm dengan demikian mutu air sungai Teluk Kao sudah tidak aman untuk di konsumsi bagi masyarakat Teluk Kao. Sedangkan untuk sedimen sungai Kobok dan Taolas Teluk Kao sudah tidak lagi memenuhi Standar Bahan Baku Mutu sesuai Peraturan Pemerintah No. 82 Tahun 200 kelas I. 0,001 mg/L kelas II. 0,002 mg/L kelas III. 0,002 mg/L kelas IV 0,005 mg/L

    This research is based on the problem of the low ability of students to understand biographical texts. The cause of the low ability of students to understand the text is because the learning methods used are still conventional, the implementation of which still takes place in one direction (monotonous), the students are less involved in the learning process, students are only waiting for what is delivered by the teacher. This study aims to describe the ability to understand biographical texts through the Learning Cell method in class VIIID students of Wonomulyo 6th Middle School. The subjects of this study were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Wonomulyo, Bulo District, Polewali Mandar Regency, 2016-2017 academic year, totaling 27 students. Data collection techniques carried out in this study were Test, Observation and Documentation. The results of the study on students of SMP Negeri 6 Wonomulyo, experienced an increase in this was proven by looking at the results of the research analyzed showed that in the first cycle the average value was 2.40 and experienced an increase in the second cycle with an average value of 3.15. So the use of The Learning Cell method in understanding biographical texts can improve student learning outcomes. In addition, observational data in each cycle showed a change in the attitude of students towards a more positive, both from the attitude of learning, activeness in reading and writing notes, as well as discipline in doing the assignments given

    Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) is a lower respiratory tract nosocomial infection which frequently resulting from mechanical ventilation support of more than 48 hours in an intensive care unit (ICU). The incidence of VAP at Sanglah Hospital is 15.48 per 1000 days used still higher than the national standard of 10 per 1000 days used. Risk factors for VAP transmission include host condition, medical equipment hygiene and healthcare provider behaviors, including handwashing. This study aimed to analyze contributing risk factors for VAP incidence at Sanglah Hospital, specifically handwashing procedures. Study applied case control with 27 sample cases (those with VAP) and 54 control subjects (non-VAP), from similar gender and age backgrounds. Case control data was obtained from medical records of 2012. Data from healthcare providers (doctors and nurses attending to the study population) was obtained through interviewing using structure questionnaires and cross checking through assessment of medical records. The univariate and bivariate data was analyzed by chi square and multivariate by logistic regression. Findings indicated that the contributing factors are healthcare provider handwashing (OR=6.11; 95%CI: 1.54-24.25), length of hospital stay (OR=4.18; 95%CI: 1.36-12.81) and associated disease (OR=4.22; 95%CI: 0.98-18.25). Nurse behaviors contributed to VAP incidence (OR=4.69; 95%CI: 1.22-18.08). Doctors indicated difficulty in adhering to handwashing protocol (the 5 moment handwashing requirements) particularly before aseptic procedure (45,1% in cases and 66,3% in control). Study indicates that poor handwashing behaviors contribute to VAP incidence. There is a need for health promotion initiatives that encourage adherence to official handwashing protocol

On this basis, this study was conducted to analyze the determinants of work performance. To test this research, several methods were carried out including the quantitative approach method, using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument with a Likert scale as a parameter, using multiple linear regression analysis method which includes descriptive analysis, validity test, reliability test, classic assumption test, partial test, simultaneous test, and coefficient of determination test. The object of this research is the Mayora bank in Jakarta with 99 respondents. The results showed there were positive and significant effects of training, motivation and compensation on employee work performance.     This study aims to describe the degree of student's learning difficulty of mathematics on cognitive and categorization of student's learning problem on affective aspect in accomplishing mathematic items in facing national final exam of SMA Baubau municipality in 2013/2014 academic year. The research type uses survey method. The technique of data collecting made use of diagnostic test that is National final exam items in 2012/2013 academic year which was modified by the researcher, questionnaires, and interviews. The research result indicates that the degree of students' learning difficulty of mathematics to accomplish national final exam items is in the medium category; the students' learning difficulty of mathematics on cognitive aspect in accomplish national final exam items viewed from factual knowledge with students' difficulty interval percentage , conceptual knowledge aspect with students' difficulty interval percentage , and procedural knowledge aspect with students' difficulty interval percentage ; and the categorization of students' learning problem of mathematics on affective aspect in facing National final exam in 2013/2014 academic year of SMA Baubau municipality generally is in the low category
