Globalization in Reverse: The Missing Link in Energy Consumption

We present a theoretical framework that demonstrates the globalization as a beneficial trend which fosters the movement of advanced technology from developed nations to developing countries leading to the deployment of large scale energy projects on renewable technologies We explore the implications of this framework with panel data and vector autoregressive VAR analyses These suggest that an increase in social globalization which accounts for the spread of know-how skilled workers and technology by 1 percent reduces the energy consumption by roughly 21 percent This lead to increasing the employment of clean and renewable energy sources through the attainment of technological efficiency However substantial increase in traditional energy demand from developing countries suggests the trend of anti-globalizatio

Political Participation and Political Repression: Women in Saudi Arabia

In 2015 Saudi Arabian women were for the first time in history granted political space through electoral suffrage. To evaluate whether the new political opening for Saudi Arabian women has improved women\u27s rights and equality in the Kingdom, I sought to conduct interviews to acquire their views and attitudes. In the process my encounters with Saudi Arabian women revealed their fear, cautiousness, and unwillingness to participate politically, which impelled me to discover the relationship between women\u27s political participation and political repression. In the course of this research I learned that political repression inhibits women\u27s political participation, and in Saudi Arabia women remain voiceless despite the new political space - political participation did not account for political freedoms. This thesis provides analysis of the relationship by demonstrating the prevalence of Saudi Arabian women\u27s lack of freedom in political participation
