The benefits of combining seasonal anomalies and technical trading rules
Although many seasonal anomalies and technical trading rules have been shown to have predictive ability, investigations have focused only on them operating individually. We study the benefits of trading based on combinations of three of the best known effects: the moving average rule, the turn of the month effect, and the Halloween effect. We show that the rules can be combined effectively, giving significant levels of returns predictability with low risk and offering the possibility of profitable trading. This new investment approach is especially beneficial for a typical individual investor, who faces high transaction costs and is poorly diversified
Influence of Josephson current second harmonic on stability of magnetic flux in long junctions
We study the long Josephson junction (LJJ) model which takes into account the
second harmonic of the Fourier expansion of Josephson current. The dependence
of the static magnetic flux distributions on parameters of the model are
investigated numerically. Stability of the static solutions is checked by the
sign of the smallest eigenvalue of the associated Sturm-Liouville problem. New
solutions which do not exist in the traditional model, have been found.
Investigation of the influence of second harmonic on the stability of magnetic
flux distributions for main solutions is performed.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, to be published in Proc. of Dubna-Nano2010, July

Elaboration of the Recipe of the Fermented Milk Dessert for Child Food
Using the tabular processor MS Excel 2007 there was elaborated the recipe of the fermented milk dessert for child food. The recipe of this dessert consists of (mass. %, g): fermented milk curd – 54, jam – 23, honey – 8, sesame – 4, cream – 6, collagen hydrolyzate (gluten) – 5. This dessert is a source of vitamin C and covers near 40 % of a child daily need in it. At the expanse of introducing gluten in the dessert composition, protein content in the ready product increased that covers from 11,28 % to 22,56 % of a daily need. This dessert is also rich in calcium, so one portion of it covers 25 % of a child need.Based on theoretical qualimetry methods there was realized the complex estimation of the dessert quality. The hierarchic structure of ready product properties was presented, including organoleptic and physical-chemical parameters and also ones of the food and biological value at storage. The estimation of microbiological and organoleptic parameters at storage give a possibility to state, that the new fermented milk dessert will be competitive at the consumer market. The storage life of this product is 5 days at the temperature (4±2) °С
Advantages of bariatric medicine for individualized prevention and treatments: multidisciplinary approach in body culture and prevention of obesity and diabetes
Bariatric surgery is a component of the multimodal treatment of obesity, which consists of multidisciplinary evaluation and diagnosis, conservative and surgical treatments, and lifelong follow-up care. The current guideline extends the BMI-based spectrum of indications that was previously proposed (BMI greater than 40Â kg/m(2), or greater than 35Â kg/m(2) with secondary diseases) by eliminating age limits, as well as most of the contraindications. A prerequisite for surgery is that a structured, conservative weight-loss program has failed or is considered to be futile. Type 2 diabetes is now considered an independent indication under clinical study conditions for patients whose BMI is less than 35Â kg/m(2) (metabolic surgery). The standard laparoscopic techniques are gastric banding, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and biliopancreatic diversion. The choice of procedures is based on knowledge of the results, long-term effects, complications, and individual circumstances. Structured lifelong follow-up should be provided and should, in particular, prevent metabolic deficiencies
