      Sukarami regency is one of the areas with the highest dengue cases in Palembang City. The presence of larvae will affect the mosquito population of dengue vectors. The spot has several characteristic differences that will affect the Aedes spp mosquito. to meet the eggs This study aims to determine the relationship between larvae habitat with habitat characteristics and air quality. The sample of this research is 100 homes inhabited as residence in Sukarami Village. Collection of Aedes spp larvae. with single larvae method. Aedes spp larvae habitat habitat data collection through the form. Measurement of water quality in Aedes spp larvae habitat. carried out to obtain water temperature, pH and salinity. The resulting data is then processed and categorized based on each variable. The analysis using bivariate using chi-square test to know the relationship between habitat characteristics and water quality with larvae area. The results showed significant differences between container type, container wall surface, container location, cover condition and water pH with Aedes spp larvae seeds (p <0.05). DHF surveillance activities through cadre empowerment for widening and Aedes spp eradication larvae should be undertaken as an effort to restore the chain of Aedes spp mosquitoes and propagation

    Malaria is one of the infectious diseases that become a public health problem that can be a major cause of death in developing countries, especially in infants, toddlers, and pregnant women. Nowadays, malaria caseis still commonly found in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) South Sumatera Province. One of the efforts in malaria prevention and control that Health Office of OKU District has been carrying out was the distribution of Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINS). This study aimed to obtain the percentage of mosquito mortality in order to assesslethal potency of LLINs that have been distributed by the Health Office of OKU District and was still used by the community. This study was an observational research with cross sectional design. The percentage of mosquito mortality rate was obtained through bioassay test on LLINs that randomly selected from the community in Bumi Kawa village in Lengkiti of OKU District. The mosquitoes that used for the test were Anopheles maculatus that were bred and reared in the laboratory. Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) were grouped based on the duration of use(2-3 years and above 3 years) and the frequency of washing(unwashed, once, twice, and thrice). The results showed that all nets had mosquitos’ knockdown less than 95% and the mortality less than 80% of mosquitoes. These numbers showed that all the tested nets are no longer effective in killing mosquitoes

    Kepadatan dan Keragaman Spesies Nyamuk di Desa Jagaraga Kecamatan Buana Pemaca dan Desa Sukajaya, Kecamatan Buay Rawan, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan

    Abstract The study on mosquito diversity was conducted in Jagaraga Village, Buana Pemaca  Subdistrict and Sukajaya Village, Buay Rawan Subdistrict of Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan Regency in 2017. This study aimed to analyze population density of mosquitoes, feeding habits and resting behavior of mosquito, and identify the types of potential /specific breeding habitat of mosquito larvae in OKU Selatan regency. Mosquitoes were collected during the night for 12 hours, started at 06.00 p.m. until 06.00 a.m. by human landing, resting, and cattle landing collection methods. The indoor density of mosquitoes ranged from 0.04-3.96 mosquitoes/person/hour with the highest density of 10,7 on Cx.tritaeniorhyncus. Species of mosquitoes collected in Sukajaya Village were more diverse than in Buana Pemaca Village. There were 12 species and the most dominant species was Cx. tritaeniorhyncus (68.09%), Breeding habitats were identified in rice fields, bricks pit, puddle marsh, and flow of rice fields. Abstrak Penelitian tentang keragaman nyamuk telah dilakukan Di Desa Jagaraga Kecamatan Buana Pemaca dan Desa Sukajaya Kecamatan Buay Rawan Kabupaten OKU Selatan pada tahun 2017. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui angka kepadatan populasi nyamuk yang tertangkap, menganalisis kebiasaan mencari makan danperilaku beristirahat masing-masing spesies nyamuk yang tertangkap serta mengetahui jenis-jenis habitat perkembangbiakan potensial bagi larva nyamuk yang ada di Kabupaten OKU Selatan. Penangkapan nyamuk dilakukan selama 12 jam dimulai dari pukul 18.00 WIB malam hingga pukul 06.00 pagi, menggunakan metode human landing collection, resting collection dan penangkapan di sekitar kandang ternak. Spesies nyamuk yang tertangkap 12 spesies dan yang paling dominan yaitu Culex tritaeniorhyncus(68,9%). Kepadatan nyamuk yang menggigit per orang per jam (MHD) di dalam rumah berkisar antara 0,04-3,96 ekor/orang/jam. Kepadatan rata-rata paling tinggi pada nyamuk Cx. tritaeniorhyncus 10,7 ekor.     Demam Berdarah Dengue merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan virus dengue dan ditularkan melalui gigitan nyamuk, yaitu Ae.aegypti sebagai vektor utama dan Ae. albopictus sebagai vektor sekunder. Kelurahan Sukarami merupakan salah satu daerah endemis DBD yang memiliki angka kasus yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan daerah lainnya, hal ini didukung dengan data dari Dinas Kesehatan Kota Palembang dengan angka kejadian kasus DBD pada tahun 2007 sampai 2009 adalah IR 45,55 per 10.000 penduduk; 21,34 per 10.000 penduduk;24,11 per 10.000 penduduk. Dari hasil penelitian sebelumnya yang dilakukan pada tahun 2009 di Kelurahan Sukarami masih menunjukkan ABJ yang rendah yaitu 58%. Rendahnya Angka Bebas Jentik pada suatu daerah mempengaruhi adanya kasus DBD. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran karakteristik variasi jenis dan jumlah tempat perindukan Aedes spp dan masyarakat dalam pemeberantasan sarang nyamuk di Kelurahan Sukarami Kecamatan Sukarami Kota Palembang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif. Metoda yang dilakukan adalah survey entomologi (survei jentik), selain itu juga dilakukan wawancara kepada kepala keluarga responden. Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Hasil dan kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jenis kontainer barang-barang bekas dan bak mandi menjadi tempat perindukkan. Warna konbtainer coklat banyak ditemukan jentik. Bahan dasar kontainer logam dan karet banyak ditemukan jentik. Angka Bebas Jentik 42%, Nilai House index 58%,Breteau indek 22,37%,Container Indek 102%. Keberadaan predator dapat membantu membasmi jentik Aedes spp. Keberadaan tanaman dapat menjadi tempat perindukan jentik. Kontainer yang terbuka banyak ditemukan jentik. Letak kontainer yang banyak jentik ditemukan di luar rumah. Kondisi pencahayaan pada kontainer yang gelap banyak ditemukan jentik. Pada suhu 270C dan 280C yang banyak ditemukan jentik. Nilai pH air pada kontainer 6,5 mendukung perkembangan jentik. Salinitas air pada kontainer 0-0,50/00 mendukung perkembangan jentik. Pemberantasan Srang Nyamuk (PSN) yang banyak dilakukan masyarakat berfokus pada kontainer di dalam rumah. Kata Kunci: Temapt perindukan, jentik, Aedes sp
