    On a Petrov-type D homogeneous solution

We present a new two-parameter family of solutions of Einstein gravity with negative cosmological constant in 2+1 dimensions. These solutions are obtained by squashing the anti-de Sitter geometry along one direction and posses four Killing vectors. Global properties as well as the four dimensional generalization are discussed, followed by the investigation of the geodesic motion. A simple global embedding of these spaces as the intersection of four quadratic surfaces in a seven dimensional space is obtained. We argue also that these geometries describe the boundary of a four dimensional nutty-bubble solution and are relevant in the context of AdS/CFT correspondence.Comment: 20 pages, TeX fil

Nonholonomic Ricci Flows and Running Cosmological Constant: I. 4D Taub-NUT Metrics

    Get PDF
In this work we construct and analyze exact solutions describing Ricci flows and nonholonomic deformations of four dimensional (4D) Taub-NUT spacetimes. It is outlined a new geometric techniques of constructing Ricci flow solutions. Some conceptual issues on spacetimes provided with generic off-diagonal metrics and associated nonlinear connection structures are analyzed. The limit from gravity/Ricci flow models with nontrivial torsion to configurations with the Levi-Civita connection is allowed in some specific physical circumstances by constraining the class of integral varieties for the Einstein and Ricci flow equations.Comment: latex2e, final variant to be published in IJMP

Quasilocal non-equilibrium dynamics of {\Phi}-spinning black rings

In this work, we study the non-equilibrium dynamics of {\Phi}-spinning black rings within the quasilocal formalism. We adopt the counterterm method and compute the renormalized boundary stress-energy tensor. By considering the conservation of this tensor, the condition for removing the conical singularity at spatial infinity is derived. It is subsequently shown that a {\Phi}-spinning black ring cannot be kept in a state of equilibrium, which is consistent with the physical interpretation that the angular momentum is on the plane orthogonal to the ring and there is no force to balance the tension and gravitational self-attraction. The results of these computations lay a foundation for studying the thermodynamics of {\Phi}-spinning rings in detail. Finally, we charge up the rings in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system and suggest feasible ways to make them balanced.Comment: 7 page

Quasilocal equilibrium condition for black ring

We use the conservation of the renormalized boundary stress-energy tensor to obtain the equilibrium condition for a general (thin or fat) black ring solution. We also investigate the role of the spatial stress in the thermodynamics of deformation within the quasilocal formalism of Brown and York and discuss the relation with other methods. In particular, we discuss the quantum statistical relation for the unbalanced black ring solution.Comment: v2: refs. added, matches the published versio

    Nuttier Bubbles

We construct new explicit solutions of general relativity from double analytic continuations of Taub-NUT spacetimes. This generalizes previous studies of 4-dimensional nutty bubbles. One 5-dimensional locally asymptotically AdS solution in particular has a special conformal boundary structure of AdS3Ă—S1AdS_3\times S^1. We compute its boundary stress tensor and relate it to the properties of the dual field theory. Interestingly enough, we also find consistent 6-dimensional bubble solutions that have only one timelike direction. The existence of such spacetimes with non-trivial topology is closely related to the existence of the Taub-NUT(-AdS) solutions with more than one NUT charge. Finally, we begin an investigation of generating new solutions from Taub-NUT spacetimes and nuttier bubbles. Using the so-called Hopf duality, we provide new explicit time-dependent backgrounds in six dimensions.Comment: 32 pages, 1 figure; v.3. typos corrected. Matches the published versio

Scalar emission in a rotating G\"{o}del black hole

We study the absorption probability and Hawking radiation of the scalar field in the rotating G\"{o}del black hole in minimal five-dimensional gauged supergravity. We find that G\"{o}del parameter jj imprints in the greybody factor and Hawking radiation. It plays a different role from the angular momentum of the black hole in the Hawking radiation and super-radiance. These information can help us know more about rotating G\"{o}del black holes in minimal five-dimensional gauged supergravity.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, This version accepted for publication in Phys. Skyrmion and Skyrme-Black holes in de Sitter spacetime

Numerical arguments are presented for the existence of regular and black hole solutions of the Einstein-Skyrme equations with a positive cosmological constant. These classical configurations approach asymptotically the de Sitter spacetime. The main properties of the solutions and the differences with respect to the asymptotically flat ones are discussed. It particular our results suggest that, for a positive cosmological constant, the mass evaluated as timelike infinity in infinite. Special emphasis is set to De Sitter black holes Skyrmions which display two horizons.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure

Thermodynamic instability of doubly spinning black objects

We investigate the thermodynamic stability of neutral black objects with (at least) two angular momenta. We use the quasilocal formalism to compute the grand canonical potential and show that the doubly spinning black ring is thermodynamically unstable. We consider the thermodynamic instabilities of ultra-spinning black objects and point out a subtle relation between the microcanonical and grand canonical ensembles. We also find the location of the black string/membrane phases of doubly spinning black objects.Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures v2: matches the published versio

Hairy planar black holes in higher dimensions

    Get PDF
We construct exact hairy planar black holes in D-dimensional AdS gravity. These solutions are regular except at the singularity and have stress-energy that satisfies the null energy condition. We present a detailed analysis of their thermodynamical properties and show that the first law is satisfied. We also discuss these solutions in the context of AdS/CFT duality and construct the associated c-function.Comment: 18 pages, no figures; v2: title changed, typos fixe
