Change is inevitable but compliance is optional : coworker social influence and behavioral work-arounds in the EHR implementation of healthcare organizations
textThe implementation of planned organizational change is ultimately a communication-related phenomenon, and as such, it is imperative that organizational communication scholars examine the interactions surrounding EHR implementation and understand how users (e.g. healthcare practitioners) utilize, evaluate, and deliberate this new technological innovation. Previous research on planned organizational change has called for researchers to adopt a more dynamic perspective that emphasizes the active agency of organizational members throughout implementation processes and focuses on informal implementers and change reinvention (work-arounds) as individuals actively reinterpret and personalize their work roles during implementation socialization. This dissertation seeks to fill this gap in research by demonstrating how communication between doctors, nurses, and other health professionals affects the adoption, maintenance, alternation, modification, or rejection of EHR systems within health care organizations. To delve into these inquiries and examine the intersecting domains of medical informatics and organizational communication research, this dissertation proceeds in the following manner: First, a literature review, capitalizing on Laurie Lewisâs work in planned organizational change and social constructionist views of technology use in organizations, outlines the assumptions that undergird this research. Next, this dissertation builds a model that predicts the communicative and structural antecedents of the study outcome variables, which include 1) organizational resistance to EHR implementation, 2) employeesâ perception of EHR implementation success, 3) levels of change reinventionâor work-aroundsâdue to change initiatives and activities, and 4) employeesâ perceptions of the quality of the organizational communication surrounding the change. Hypotheses guiding the model specification are provided and are followed by a description of the empirical methods and procedures that were utilized to explore the variable relationships. Results of the SEM model suggest that work-arounds could play a mediating role governing the relationship between informal social influence and the outcome variables in the study. In addition, one-way ANOVAs and multiple regression analyses reveal that physicians are the most resistant to EHR implementation and perceived change communication quality positively predicts perceived EHR implementation success and perceived relative advantage of EHR and negatively predicts employee resistance. A discussion of the expected and unexpected results is offered in addition to study limitation and future directions.Communication Studie
An original composition, galleria armonica, theme and variations for piano, harpsichord, harp and orchestra and a comparative study between the pedagogical methodologies of Arnold Schoenberg and Nadia Boulanger regarding training the composer
Part one of this dissertation is an original music composition, Galleria Armonica, Theme and Variations for Piano, Harpsichord, Harp and Orchestra in fantasia variation form. The orchestra is divided into four groups: Strings (8/8/6/6/4), Winds (2/2/2/2/), Brass (4/3/3/1), and Percussion (Percussion I: Celesta, Timpani, Vibraphone, & Snare Drum; Percussion II: Suspended Cymbal, Orchestra Bells, Tam-Tam; Percussion III: Bass Drum, Side Drum, Triangle, & Tam-Tam.) Each solo instrument (Piano, Harpsichord & Harp) is physically associated with a specified group: Piano with Brass; Harpsichord with Strings: Harp with Winds, thus three primary groups. The percussion is employed as a crossover, unifying ensemble. The title of the work derives from Michele Todini\u27s 1676 musical instrument museum known as Dichaiaratione della galleria Armonica eretta in Roma de M. Todini Piemontese di Saluzzo, nella sua habitazione, posta al\u27Arco della Ciambella Roma 1676. According to his own description it was divided between two rooms. The arrangement of the four music ensembles symbolically represent Todini\u27s groupings and the physical separation inherent in such an arrangement. Symbolically, music is shared among this music work\u27s ensembles. Part two of this dissertation is a comparative study between the pedagogical methodologies of Arnold Schoenberg and Nadia Boulanger regarding training the composer. Chapter One serves as an introduction to the personal background, musical training, and careers of Arnold Schoenberg and Nadia Boulanger, individually. Chapters Two and Three present music pedagogy texts and other significant teaching methods and materials relating to Schoenberg\u27s and Boulanger\u27s musical pedagogy, respectively. Chapter Four presents two exemplary music education philosophies of the second half of the twentieth century: those by Bennett Reimer and David Elliott. Chapter Five is a comparison and contrast of the teaching methods and materials of Schoenberg and Boulanger in relation to the philosophies of music education of Reimer and Elliott. Chapter Six is a conclusion of the contributions to music composition pedagogy by Schoenberg and Boulanger and the implications of those findings followed by an Epilogue
An early nimravid from California and the rise of hypercarnivorous mammals after the Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum
Carnivoraforms (crown carnivorans and their closest relatives) first occupied hypercarnivorous niches near the dawn of the late Eocene, 40â37 million years ago. This followed the decline or extinction of earlier carnivorous groups, Mesonychia and Oxyaenodonta, leaving carnivoraforms and hyaenodontan meat-eaters as high trophic level consumers. The pattern of this change and the relative contributions of the taxonomic groups has hitherto been unclear. We report a new genus and species of the sabretoothed mammalian carnivore family Nimravidae, Pangurban egiae, from the Eocene Pomerado Conglomerate of southern California, with strongly derived hypercarnivorous features. While geochronologically the oldest named nimravid in North America, Pangurban egiae is recovered as phylogenetically derived, with affinities to Hoplophoneus. This provides unequivocal evidence for rapid radiation and spread of nimravid carnivores across Asia and North America and constrains the timing of early divergences within the family. Pangurban egiae narrows the gap between convergent iterations of sabretoothed mammalian carnivores and demonstrates swift diversification of the hypercarnivorous nimravids during a period of global climatic instability. Furthermore, it highlights the top-to-bottom restructuring North American ecosystems underwent during the EoceneâOligocene transition, resulting in carnivoraforms taking positions as trophic specialists for the first time, a niche they still occupy today
A Safe, Stable Place to Call Home Supports Young Children's Health in Arkansas
Families should be able to afford a roof over their heads and still have enough money to pay for food, utilities, and healthcare. Unfortunately, for many Arkansans, wages are not keeping up with housing costs. Presently, fair market rent for a two-bedroom apartment is 7.25/hour can afford. Children's HealthWatch research shows families are forced to sacrifice basic necessities when they confront the gap between the cost of housing and their ability to pay for it

Leadership Tools to Support the Transformational Leadership Style
The lives of many have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic (Dumulescu & Mutiu, 2021). In higher education, students, professors, instructional aids, and other school staff were sent home from institutions to protect health and safety. There became an immediate need for clear, straightforward leadership to guide and lead higher education students and professionals through these unprecedented times, and amid the COVID-19 global pandemic, transformational leaders have been effective in changing the world of higher education institutions. This paper will explore the findings of effective leadership styles for individuals after going through a global pandemic
