Self-amplified Emission of Cherenkov Radiation from a Relativistic Particle Inside Layered Dielectric-filled Waveguide

It is shown that in some special cases the Cherenkov radiation from a charged particle moving along the axis of cylindrical waveguide filled with a semi-infinite material consisting of dielectric plates alternated with vacuum gaps is many times stronger than that in the waveguide filled with semi-infinite solid dielectric without vacuum gaps.Comment: 1 page, abstract submitted to 4th International Conference "Channeling 2010", Ferrara, Italy, October 3-8, 201

Radiation from a charged particle-in-flight from a laminated medium to vacuum

The radiation from a charged particle-in-flight from a semi-infinite laminated medium to vacuum and back,- from vacuum to the laminated medium, has been investigated. Expressions for the spectral-angular distribution of radiation energy in vacuum (at large distances from the boundary of laminated medium) were obtained for both the cases with no limitations on the amplitude and variation profile of the laminated medium permittivity. Investigation of crack propagation in single optical fiber composite with thermal influence by finite element method

Two parallel comparative ‘Conventional Method and Computer Simulation using ANSYS software’for prediction of crack growth and its behavior in optical fiber are studied and presented in this work.Corresponding finite element analysis was performed to determine the evolution of stress and strain states. Themethod is developed and combined with the modified J-integral theory to deal with this problem. The effects ofcrack length, temperature and mechanical forces are investigated by Finite Element Method in the crackedbody. The conditions where the Mode I stress intensity factor motivate fracture occurrence is investigated andvariations of the different cases are discussed. The most deleterious situation is found to be that wherein theentire model reaches rupture at some stage. The accuracy of the method is investigated through comparison ofnumerical results with computerized simulation using commercial ANSYS software

Improved Margin Of Error Estimates For Proportions In Business: An Educational Example

This paper presents the Agresti & Coull “Adjusted Wald” method for computing confidence intervals and margins of error for common proportion estimates.  The presented method is easily implementable by business students and practitioners and provides more accurate estimates of proportions particularly in extreme samples and small sample situations.  The proposed method may have particular applications to focus group analysis, industry benchmarking, and destructive testing sampling.  The paper discusses a computational strategy and several comparison examples

Cílem této práce je pomocí analýzy vybraných knih prozkoumat světy portálové fantazie, přesněji žánr, v němž se vyskytuje cestování mezi sférami. Tento podžánr fantastické fikce umožňuje kulturní a sociální srovnání mezi místy původu postav a nově nalezenými zeměmi, kde v rámci příběhové linky probíhá proces sžití se s novým místem, a pochopení vlastního já. Esej se zaměřuje na sféry představené ve vybraných literárních dílech, na jejich postavy a na roli přenesení se mezi těmito sférami/světy. Toto přemístění vyžaduje adaptaci, která nevyhnutelně vede k vývoji postav a nabízí tak možnost prozkoumat společenské problémy. Práce se rovněž zaobírá strukturou úkolu (quest) v příbězích, jelikož ta je často součástí tohoto žánru. Každá kniha je shrnuta a zkoumána ve své příslušné kapitole. První kapitola nabízí definici termínu fantastický/fantastic, která je následně promítnuta do definice portálové fantazie. Pozornost je věnována vysvětlení odborných výrazů důležitých pro analýzu, které slouží jako referenční rámec následujících částí. V této části je rovněž vedena diskuse o procesu tvoření sekundárních světů. Kniha Nikdykde, napsaná Neilem Gaimanem, je předmětem druhé kapitoly. Kapitola je uvozena pojednáním o Gaimanově prominenci v oblasti fantazijní literatury a žánrově ohebných kvalitách jeho děl....The aim of this thesis is to investigate the worlds of portal fantasy, a genre featuring travel between different realms, through the analysis of the selected novels. This subgenre of fantasy fiction enables a cultural and societal comparison between the character's world of origin and the newly discovered land. There is a process of habituation with the novel setting and one's self. The essay focuses on the worlds presented in the chosen literature, characters, and the role of the transitions through the universes. It facilitates a course of adjustment that inevitably leads to the development of the hero/heroine and offers an exploration of social issues. The thesis also examines the quest structure of the stories, as it is an element often present in the genre. Each book is summarized and examined within its respective chapter. The first segment deals with the definitions of the 'fantastic' and subsequently, portal fantasy. Consideration is given to the explanations of terms significant to the analysis as a frame of reference for the following chapters. It also discusses the process of building the Secondary universes. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman is the subject of the second chapter. Gaiman's prominence within the field of fantasy and his genre-bending writing opens up the chapter. DIVERSIFICATION OF INVESTMENT PROJECTS FINANCING SOURCES ON THE BASIS OF PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP MECHANISM

This article presents the specifics of financing investment projects on the basis of public-private partnership in the current realities of the economy. Analysis of the current international practice of designated projects allows identifying key aspects in the formation of sources of their financing. In this article the author proves the need to take into account the specific factors of each of the stages of the project life cycle in the implementation of investment attraction, which allows project companies to gain access to new sources of liquidity

In conclusion the author indicates the need of broader research of the factors promoting effective forming of relationship between the state and the private sector for improvement of life of citizens and increase in competitiveness of the country on the international scene
