    This paper discusses "Study Analysis of Problem Based Learning Models in Developing Critical Thinking of Students in SMP Negeri 1 Palu" and the problems in this study are: How the effectiveness of problem-based learning models in developing students' critical thinking in PAI subjects in SMP N 1 Palu and what are the supporting factors and obstacles to the problem-based learning model in developing students' critical thinking in SMP N 1 Palu. This study uses a qualitative approach, data collection techniques through interview observation and documentation, data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate the effectiveness of problem-based learning models in developing critical thinking of participants in SMP Negeri 1 Palu has been well implemented. Problem solving in a learning process has an important role to create learning that is liked and liked by students and makes learning more meaningful so that students are able to develop their critical thinking. From the conclusion, the implication is that the learning model is something that is really needed by educators to achieve the goal, the school provides training to educators about the learning model, maintaining what has been done, and for students in SMP Negeri 1 Palu, regarding the ability to think critically through models educators use to always follow the learning cycle

    The Traits of Efficacious and Inefficacious EFL Teachers Based on Students’ Insight

    This research aimed at (i) probing traits of efficacious EFL teachers based on students’ insight; (ii) delving traits of inefficacious EFL teachers based on students’ insight; (iii) finding out students’ different experiences on efficacious and inefficacious EFL teachers. This qualitative research used constructivism approach in gaining data and applied coding method in data analysis. The research subjects were 15 students of SMKK Dr. Wahidin Makassar. Five of them were interviewed to gain a deeper explanation about their experiences on the traits of efficacious and inefficacious teachers. The results indicated that built upon the students’ insight (i) the traits of efficacious EFL teachers are having pleasant figure, responsive, mastering the subject taught, promoting students to learn, mastering teaching and learning strategies, able to create a good relation, and performing a good appearance; (ii) inefficacious EFL teachers are indicated by having unpleasant behavior, lack of ability in presenting materials, not supporting students to learn, not mastering teaching strategies, and discriminating; (iii) there is different experience about the traits of efficacious and inefficacious EFL teachers namely teaching based on the textbook only. Some students perceived it was effective for elementary school students, while others perceived it was ineffective for senior high school students

    ENGLISH PARAPHRASING TROUGH INITIAL STAGE TECHNIQUE TO DEVELOP WRITING SKILL

    Abstract The purpose of this research is to know whether the initial stage can improve writing skill, to find out how their paraphrase capabilities result using the initial stage, and to know the students’ writing skill. This research employed quasi experimental design. Independent variable of this research was the initial stage technique and the dependent variable was the students’ writing skill. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of MAN 1 Luwuk Banggai in 2020/2021 academic year. The way of taking the sample was by using purposive sampling. The samples were class XI IPA 1 as the experimental group and class XI IPA 2 as the control group. The test consisted of pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed statistically. After analyzed the data, the result revealed that the t-counted was 14.38 with a degree of freedom 70 and a significance level of 0.05, t-table was 1.666. Therefore, the t-test result was higher than the t-table. It means that the hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, the result showed that the initial stage technique of paraphrasing can develop writing skill of the eleventh grade students’ of MAN 1 Luwuk Banggai.
