Analysis of Shocks Affecting Europe: EMU and some Central and Eastern Acceding Countries

This paper deals with the synchronization of business cycles and economic shocks between the euro area and acceding countries. We therefore extract the business cycle component of output by using Hodrick-Prescott filter. Supply and demand shocks are recovered from estimated structural VAR models of output growth and inflation using long run restriction (Blanchard and Quah). We then check the (A) symmetry of these shocks by calculating the correlation between euro area shocks and those of the different acceding countries. We find that several acceding countries have a quite high correlation of demand shocks with the euro area however supply shocks are asymmetric; the correlation between euro area and central and east European countries (CEECs) is negative. We therefore conclude that joining the European Monetary Union is not yet possible: central and east European countries have to make structural changes to join the European Monetary Union.Central and East European countries, Euro area, SVAR models, Hodrick-Prescott filter, Symmetric-asymmetric shocks

EFEKTIVITAS PROGRAM KEGIATAN SIMPAN PINJAM PEREMPUAN (SPP) DI KECAMATAN BAITUSSALAM KABUPATEN ACEH BESARMegaria Arfa/Agribisnis Universitas Syiah KualaABSTRAKKegiatan simpan pinjam khusus perempuan adalah kegiatan pemberian modal untuk kelompok perempuan yang mempunyai usaha mikro. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi tingkat efektivitas dan keberhasilan program kegiatan simpan pinjam khusus perempuan di Kecamatan Baitussalam, Kabupaten Aceh Besar dengan indikator dalam mengukur efektivitas program yaitu pemahaman program, ketepatan sasaran, ketepatan waktu dan penggunaan pinjaman. Sementara indikator keberhasilan program simpan pinjam perempuan yaitu penghasilan usaha, kepemilikan aset usaha dan tenaga kerja. Data yang digunakan adalah data primer yang diperoleh dari 42 orang responden. Metode analisis dalam penelitian ini adalah metode skoring/nilai terhadap masing-masing kuesioner sesuai variabel efektivitas yang ditanyakan dan analisis uji T berpasangan (paired sample t test)dengan menggunakan alat bantu SPSS v16. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efektivitas program kegiatan simpan pinjam khusus perempuan di Kecamatan Baitussalam, Kabupaten Aceh Besar dinilai efektif dengan persentase 64,3persenkegiatan usaha yang efektif.Selain itu, keberhasilan program simpan pinjam perempuan ditunjukkan dengan adanya perbedaan nyata antarapenghasilan usaha, kepemilikan aset usaha dan tenaga kerja responden sebelum dan sesudah memperoleh dana pinjaman.Kata Kunci: Efektivitas, Keberhasilan, Program Simpan Pinjam Perempua

UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOL BAWANG PUTIH (ALLIUM SATIVUM L.) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN PAN DRUGS RESISTANT ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII ISOLAT KLINIS

ABSTRAKAcinetobacter baumannii adalah salah satu bakteri yang telah resisten terhadap semua antibiotik yang disebut dengan pan drugs resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (PDRAb). Bawang putih merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang sudah diketahui memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Bawang putih mengandung allicin, alkaloid, terpenoid dan tanin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol bawang putih terhadap pertumbuhan pan drugs resistant Acinetobacter baumannii isolat klinis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan metode difusi cakram. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan 4 kelompok perlakuan (terdiri dari ekstrak etanol bawang putih konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60% dan 80%) dan kelompok kontrol negatif (terdiri dari aquades steril). Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan ekstrak etanol bawang putih memiliki antivitas antibakteri dengan berbagai konsentrasi terhadap pan drugs resistant Acinetobacter buamannii. Setiap konsentrasi menunjukkan diameter daya hambat rata-rata berturut-turut sebesar 12 mm, 12 mm, 14,4 mm dan 16,4 mm dengan konsentrasi paling efektif adalah 80%. Hasil analisis statistik didapatkan nilai p < 0,05 yang menandakan bahwa ekstrak etanol bawang putih memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang bermakna dalam menghambat pertumbuhan pan drugs resistant Acinetobacter baumanii. IT Influenced CSR in De-Stabilized Economy with Comparative Analysis of Various European Countries

Corporations around the world are struggling with a new role, which is to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of the next generations to meet their own needs. Organizations are being called upon to take responsibility for the ways their operations impact societies and the natural environment. They are also being asked to apply sustainability principles to the ways in which they conduct their business. Sustainability refers to an organization’s activities, typically considered voluntary, that demonstrate the inclusion of social and environmental concerns in the business operations and in interactions with stakeholders (van Marrewijk &amp; Verre, 2003)It is no longer acceptable for a corporation to experience economic prosperity in isolation from those agents impacted by its actions. A firm must now focus its attention on both increasing its bottom line and being a good corporate citizen. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to the company’s efforts to go beyond what may be required by the regulators, it is the corporate initiative to assess and take responsibility for the company’s effect on the environment and impact on social welfare. Information Technology (IT) is also an enabler of business functions. It plays a great role as the benefits gained from it are of great use but corporate social responsibility (CSR) puts limitations on its usage.
