Kinin B1 receptor controls maternal adiponectin levels and influences offspring weight gain

Given the importance of the kinin B1 receptor in insulin and leptin hormonal regulation, which in turn is crucial in maternal adaptations to ensure nutrient supply to the fetus, we investigated the role of this receptor in maternal metabolism and fetoplacental development. Wild-type and kinin B1 receptor-deficient (B1KO) female mice were mated with male mice of the opposite genotype. Consequently, the entire litter was heterozygous for kinin B1 receptor, ensuring that there would be no influence of offspring genotype on the maternal phenotype. Maternal kinin B1 receptor blockade reduces adiponectin secretion by adipose tissue ex vivo, consistent with lower adiponectin levels in pregnant B1KO mice. Furthermore, fasting insulinemia also increased, which was associated with placental insulin resistance, reduced placental glycogen accumulation, and heavier offspring. Therefore, we propose the combination of chronic hyperinsulinemia and reduced adiponectin secretion in B1KO female mice create a maternal obesogenic environment that results in heavier pups

To evaluate the effects of the adaptation of the continuous drying method on seed quality during storage, four portions of rice seeds of 2500 kg each, were dried, in a continuous flow dryer KW-2 Kepler Weber, using different temperatures in the upper and lower drying chambers: 60/40ÂșC; 60/50ÂșC; 70/50Âș C; 70/60ÂșC. As control, four samples were submitted to stationary drying in oven at 32ÂșC. Seed quality was evaluated through moisture content, germination, accelerated aging and field emergence tests, at the 0, 60, 120 and 180 days of storage, at room temperature. The industrial processing components were determined in the first evaluation. Rice seed lots with high percentage of broken grains can present high physiological quality. Maximum air temperatures of 60ÂșC and 50ÂșC at the upper and lower chambers could be used in continuous drying of rice seeds. The adapted continuous drying decreases the percentage of intact grains of rice

The occurrence of Pteridophytes was investigated along a transect at the Walter Egler Forest reserve, located 64 km from Manaus in the municipality of Rio Preto da Eva. The group occurs on the three landscapes observed in the area (lowland, slope and plateau) with a both qualitative and quantitative difference. Three hundred and seventy five (375) individuals were established, distributed in 8 families, 10 genera and 17 species; among epiphytes, hemepiphytes, herbaceous and arboreal. Of the 8 families, 4 occur on all landscapes: Dennstaedtiaceae, Hymenophyllaceae, Dryopteridaceae and Lomariopsidaceae, whereas, Cyatheaceae and Vittariaceae occur only on lowland. Of the 17 identified species, 7 occur only lowland, 3 on slope, and 5 are common on all landscapes
