INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE: BANKS’ RISK AS THE MEDIATING VARIABLE

This study seeks to investigate the impact of intellectual capital on banks’ financial performance with banks’ risks as the intervening variable. By using the purposive sampling technique, we selected 30 sample firms from publicly listed Indonesian banks in 2015–2017. This study generated the research data from banks’ financial statements in those years. We then analyzed our data by using the Partial Least Square. The results demonstrate that banks’ risks do not mediate the relationship between intellectual capital and banks’ financial performance. Meanwhile, intellectual capital negatively affects operational risk and market risk. In addition, credit risk negatively affects banks’ financial performance, and liquidity risk negatively affects banks’ financial performance. Lastly, intellectual capital does not affect banks’ financial per­form­ance

PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE NUMBER HEAD TOGETHER TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR IPS

The problem in this research is the teacher has not used cooperative learning so that the students learn social studies remains low. The purpose at this study is to determine the influence of cooperative learning model NHT thype on the learning outcomes at social study. The method used in this research is quasi experimental research design non equivalent control group design. This study using total sampling technique. The main instruments used were a test. Data analyzed using independent sample t test Polled Varian. The results of data analysis research concluded there are influence of cooperative learning model number head together type towards learning outcomes on students at social study class VB SD Negeri Marga Kaya. This is indicated by the average value of student achievement the following study uses a model IPS NHT the experimental class is higher than the average value of student achievement that followed the lecture teaching methods in the control class.Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: guru belum menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif sehingga hasil belajar IPS siswa masih rendah. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT terhadap hasil belajar IPS. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experiment desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan total sampling. Instrumen utama yang digunakan adalah tes. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji independent sample t test Polled Varian. Hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa ada pengaruh menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Number Head Together (NHT) terhadap hasil belajar kognitif IPS siswa kelas VB SD Negeri Marga Kaya. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai rata-rata prestasi belajar siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran IPS menggunakan model NHT pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dari nilai rata-rata prestasi belajar siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran ceramah pada kelas kontrol.Kata kunci: pembelajaraan kooperatif, number head together, hasil belajar IP

Indonesia-Singapore Strategy Cooperation Diplomacy in the COVID-19 Pandemic in Batam City

This study aims to determine the strategy of diplomatic cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore and have bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore and for researchers to understand and analyze the cooperation strategies the two countries have carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used by the author in this study was qualitative and would answer a more comprehensive phenomenon. This method was sourced from literature studies, written documents, online searches, and other relevant supporting documents that will be used as secondary data collection techniques. Cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore has been established since 1967. The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on both countries. Singapore, which is directly adjacent to Batam City, one of the regions in the Riau Islands, Indonesia, was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost all countries carried out various policies limiting mobility from tourists to trade. This pandemic provided new opportunities for Singapore-Indonesia, especially in Batam City, by creating a new collaboration. The strategy to increase cooperation between the two countries in tourism to investment and development is called “Three Bridges,” which consists of travel bubble bridges, infrastructure bridges, and digital bridges. The “Three Bridges” development strategy, to increase cooperation when COVID-19 hit the situation between the two countries, is a multidimensional program in the future. Singapore and Batam City have proximity in the border area of various sectors of cooperation. Thus, this pandemic can increase diplomatic cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore, which is a country that is directly adjacent and assisted by stakeholders between the two countries

Handling People Smuggling Crimes in Border Areas: Batam City Case Study

Riau Islands is its territory, mostly surrounded by the sea, and is an international trade route in the Strait of Malacca. Batam is one of the areas included in the Riau Islands and is directly adjacent to neighboring Malaysia and Singapore. The border area owned by Batam has strategic problems to be studied. From this problem, the condition of the border area can harm the site, one of which is people smuggling. So, from this, the researcher aims to examine the problem of handling people smuggling crimes in the border area of the Batam City case study. The research method carried out is descriptive qualitative. Researchers also obtained primary data from various interviews with related agencies and different secondary data in addition to completing this study. The interim result of this study is the problem of transnational crime. This study’s provisional result is that international crime is crossing the boundaries of a country whose actions have detrimental and dangerous effects. One of the ways to overcome this problem is the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC), which aims to eradicate transnational organized crime, one of which is related to people smuggling. In Indonesia, there is Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, which also regulates people smuggling crimes in Indonesian territory, including Batam City. This law is one of the efforts to prevent people smuggling crimes. The border area as the front guard in maintaining the stability of the Republic of Indonesia must be maintained and supported.
