    Validity Test of Lean Healthcare using Lawshe’s Method

    ABSTRACT: The objective of this paper is to measure the validity of lean healthcare in the healthcare sector specifically in the Malaysias private hospitals. Validation of content is significantly important to ensure the development of questionnaires is an appropriate to measure the subject. Thus, content validity has been conducted to ensure the adapted instrument from the previous studies by using seven Subject Matter Expert (SME) to validate the instrument. Next, Lawshes method was consumed for the purpose to scale or measure the content validity of each item. From the result, it indicates the result has fulfilled the minimum criteria of Lawshes scale with more than half saying essential, denotes as an E compared to U useful but not essential and N not necessary. In conclusion, although it considered as classical measurement, but the Lawshes method still significant as one of the statistical method in quantitative study to determine the validity of each item

    Enabling Social Entrepreneurship for the Disabled

    Social entrepreneurship has the potential to offer job opportunities for people with disabilities (OKU). However, there is a gap between the effectiveness of existing social entrepreneurship activities and the desire of people with disabilities to become social entrepreneurs. This paper aims to detail the plan of study for exploring the basic principles practiced by social entrepreneurs with disabilities in overcoming challenges and creating opportunities within their social entrepreneurial business. This study targeted disabled entrepreneurs and five key informants to be interviewed through the Quintuple Helix method. The study is expected to become the basis of generalizing the culture of social entrepreneurship among the disabled group.     Sustainability through Lean Healthcare and Operational Performance in the Private Hospitals: A Proposed Framework

    The Strategy Canvas that has been reported in the Eleventh Malaysia Plan, has targeted the government to improve community healthcare and yet to deliver a better service health outcomes with the strengthening collaboration among private sectors and Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs). To have a better health outcomes, lean management will be implemented to reach efficiency and optimize resources by improving work processes in the organization. But how far the private hospitals enable to survive in the long period where it can be seen the statistic of number of private hospitals is fluctuate. It indicates there are some possible factors could happen that affect the operations of the private hospitals and yet the profitability highly vulnerable. Certainly, one of the main reasons for the private hospitals is how they tolerate unnecessary waste in the organization. As such, the researcher will look deeply into how lean healthcare practices and operational performance will lead to sustainability in the private hospital by taking into account the triple bottom line; namely the financial, social, and environmental elements. Furthermore, a conceptual framework will be presented in this paper

    Evaluating the Academic Trend of Impulse Buying Research on Scopus Publications from 1998 to 2022

    This bibliometric review of research aims to synthesise research trends in the domain of ‘impulse buying’ over the past 25 years. This study utilised extensive bibliometric analysis of articles published in Scopus-indexed journals from 1998 to 2022. It found that research on impulse buying has increased, with over 80% of the relevant documents published since 2013, and most of it in the form of concept papers and empirical research. Despite the low number of publications relating to impulse buying as compared to the publications in other disciplines, it has potential directions for future research.     Knowledge and attitude on pain relief in labour among midwives in Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM)

    Labour pain is an unpleasant experience that woman must endure in their life. Relieving the labour pain of the woman may be the main concern of the midwives. Furthermore, providing effective pain management is one of the important quality cares in obstetric care. A cross sectional study was conducted on 63 midwives in Hospital USM. A validated questionnaire was distributed to all respondents that fit the inclusion criteria. The general objective of the study was to assess the knowledge and attitude on pain relief in labour among midwives in Hospital USM. This study was conducted to determine the association between the level of knowledge and the level of attitude on pain relief in labour and to determine the association between selected sociodemographic data (Educational level and year of experience) with level of knowledge on pain relief in labour among midwives in Hospital USM. The data was analysed by descriptive statistics, and Pearson Chi-Square test using Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) 26.0. The findings of this study showed that midwives in Hospital USM have high level of knowledge (n=59, 93.7%) and positive attitude (n=52, 82.5%). For the association, in this study there is no association between the level of knowledge and level of attitude p=0.681(p-value >0.05). Furthermore, in term association between sociodemographic data and level of knowledge, there is significant association between educational level with level of knowledge p=0.010(p-value 0.05). Thus, increasing the knowledge and attitude on pain relief in labour among midwives may help in improving quality of care for woman in labour

    Investigating Entrepreneurial and Innovation Ecosystems for Conceptual Understanding and Practical Applications

    This research paper addresses the lack of clarity and challenges in applying the ecosystem concept by systematically analyzing and comparing two complex conceptualizations of entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems. Through a literature synthesis, essential distinguishing characteristics are identified using an inductive approach, facilitating the understanding of ecosystem configurations. Clustering procedures are employed to identify distinct ecosystem groups, summarized in a table. The study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems to empower the research community and practitioners in developing effective ecosystem management approaches.     Describes a study performed in Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia to develop a reliable and valid scale for the measurement of the perceived serv ice quality of bank serv ices. The Bank Islam which located in Sungai Petani , Kedah , Malaysia has been chosen as a sample for the research field study. A sample of retail banking customers in Bank Islam was surveyed through a questionnaire. The proposed scale is called SERVQUAL and comprises 33 items named ' CARTER' with six dimensions (Compliance, Assurance, Reliability, Tangible , Empathy and Responsiveness), which customized for suitability of Bank Islam.The Bank Islam were chosen because the bank was identified to have a different operational principles as compared to other conventional banks in Malaysia. The Bank Is lam is recognized and operated its business according to th e Is lamic principles and mu s t syaria ' compliance and therefore riba is stricthly prohibited. The data gathered, which were derived from customers of Bank Islam through questionnaire and was analyzed by using SPSS to compare the perception of customers in relation to their feeling about the given issues. The results indicated that compliance issues are very important for Bank Islam customers, and the customers seemed more appreciate Bank Islam for its religious provision rather than its service quality offered

    Lean Healthcare Practices and Operational Performance: Safety Climate as a Moderator

    The main propose of this study was to examine the relationship between lean healthcare practices (LHP) (operational and sociotechnical aspects) and operational performance among Malaysias private hospitals. Specifically it aimed at investigating both the moderating role of safety climate on the relationship between operational aspects and sociotechnical aspects on operational performance. Quantitative method was applied for this study with the questionnaires were randomly distributed to 118 private hospitals in Malaysia as the sample. The data collected were analyzed by performing the PLS-SEM technique. The results indicate that operational aspects and sociotechnical aspects improved operational performance, showing that these are the important elements that should be seriously considered by practitioners. However, safety climate as a moderator failed to support the relationship between operational aspects and sociotechnical aspects on operational performance. These findings have contributed theoretically, practically and methodologically with imperative implications to academicians, policy-makers and private hospitals specifically

    Sociotechnical Aspects of Lean and Sustainability

    In recent years, lean healthcare has been used by numerous scholars as a major trend for exploring the purpose of practicing lean healthcare in an operational context but apparently not considering the human or social factors. Furthermore, less studies have been conducted on how social or sociotechnical aspects of lean enables the achievement of sustainability in healthcare organizations, which also includes the three main pillars, namely economic, social, and environmental aspect. Therefore, this paper intended to examine the link between sociotechnical aspects of lean and sustainability in the healthcare sector. It also discussed theoretical approaches that explain these variables, namely Sociotechnical and Stakeholder theories. Finally, this paper has given important significance for academic researchers who intend to study the sociotechnical aspects of lean and sustainability as well as practitioners who deal with complex problems. Conclusions and future works are also included in this paper

    Lean Principles Improving Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Malaysian SMEs

    Lean business ideology has been one of the ongoing prevailing research areas in operations management. Accomplishment of lean can be found in manufacturing, construction, textile, service and other industrial areas. Still, the interest revealed in lean by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is limited. SMEs is one of the most indispensable substances that contribute extensively in building up Malaysia's economy. Albeit the SMEs is currently important towards Malaysia’s economy, however does the SMEs offer a superior entrepreneurial ecosystem. Therefore, the point of this research is to explore how lean principles can improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Malaysian SMEs. This research will be directed subjectively by utilizing triangulation of subjective information sources containing document analysis, interview and archival record. The validity of the findings will utilize the elements of trustworthiness to ensure the data precise and dependable. The expected findings of this study may demonstrate lean principles will improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem in SMEs Malaysia. In addition, it is urged to improve or cultivate the entrepreneurial ecosystem in accordance with the National Entrepreneurial Policy (NEP) 2030 by taking a gander at the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the digital economy and the intellectual economy to create high worth ventures, in this way staying significant and satisfying future financial needs
