Yleisön mediarepresentaatiot Ilta-Sanomien ja Urheilulehden vuoden 2011 miesten jääkiekon MM-kisauutisoinnissa
Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan Ilta-Sanomien ja Urheilulehden vuoden
2011 miesten jääkiekon MM-kisauutisoinnissa tuotettuja yleisörepresentaatioita.
Tutkimustehtävänä on eritellä urheiluyleisölle
lehtijutuissa tuotettuja toimija-asemia ja tulkita niihin liittyviä merkityksiä.
Jutuissa käsiteltäviä yleisöjä ovat niin tapahtumissa paikanpäällä
olevat fanijoukot kuin vastaanottimien välityksellä tapahtumia
seuraavat.
Tutkimuksen kokonaisaineisto koostuu 20.4.–31.5.2011 ilmestyneistä
Ilta-Sanomien (34) ja Urheilulehden (5) numeroista. Laadullisen
asiakkaana. Kritiikin ja ironian kohteena yleisöihin liitettiin stereotyyppisiä
suomalaisuuden ja penkkiurheilun merkityksiä. Urheilutoimittajien
ja yleisöjen välille tuotetuille suhteille oli tyypillistä,
että toimittajat käyttivät erilaisia ”tyhmän” yleisön kuvastoja oman
asiantuntijuutensa vastinparina. Arkisessa yleisöpuheessa yleisöön
viitattiin MM-tapahtumaa kehystävinä suurilukuisina tv-katsojina.
Juhlallisissa yleisöesityksissä kuvattiin karnevalistisia kisaturisteja ja
maailmanmestaruutta juhlivaa kansaa. Moralisoiva yleisö synnytettiin
suomalaispelaajien kännäämiskohun keskelle. Urheilun ja median
asiakkaaksi yleisö asemoitiin, kun lehdissä arvioitiin tv-lähetysten
laatua ja jääkiekon julkisuuskuvaa. The study examines audience media representations in the news
coverage of the 2011 men's Ice Hockey World Championships in IltaSanomat
and Urheilulehti. The aim is to analyze the subject positions
produced for the sport audience in newspaper articles and to interpret
the meanings associated with them. The articles dealt with fans at the
events as well as fans listening to or watching the games at home as
the audience.
The total material collected for the study consists of 34 issues of
Ilta-Sanomat and 5 issues of Urheilulehti published from 20 April to
31 May 2011. The qualitative analysis targeted all articles that included
verbal audience representations. Ilta-Sanomat published 94 and
Urheilulehti 27 such articles. Images were excluded from the analysis.
The method of analysis is based on the discourse analysis idea of variable
discourses, subject positions, and contexts.
The audience representation unites cultural meanings linked to
national identities, to following sports as well as to the consumption
of general popular culture. The subject positions of the sport
audience produced in the newspapers were divided into four themes:
1) the audience as the subject of criticism and irony; 2) sport journalists’
bipartite audience relationship; 3) the audience in everyday
life and during festivities, and 4) the audience as a moralist and as
a consumer. Criticism and irony were linked to the audience with
stereotypical meanings of Finnishness and armchair athletes. In case
of the relationship between sport journalists and the audience it was
typical that the journalists used special imageries of the “stupid” audience
as a counterpart to their own expertise. In everyday speech, the
audience was referred to when talking about the large numbers of
TV audiences following the championships. Solemn audience speech
described carnival tourists at the event, and the people celebrating
world championship. The audience as a moralist was created in the
middle of the drinking issue of Finnish players. The audience was
positioned as a consumer of sport and media, when the quality of the
TV broadcast and the public image of ice hockey was assessed in the
newspapers.peerReviewe
Ensuring Ecosystem Service Provision of Urban Water Nature-Based Solutions in Infill Areas: Comparing Green Factor for Districts and SWMM Modeling in Scenario Assessment
Funding Information: Work of Niklas Dahlberg and Antti Rehunen has been part of ATeNAS-project (To Ally Technology, NAture and Society for integrated urban water management) that has been funded by Water JPI WaterWorks 2017. Publisher Copyright: © 2023, The Author(s).This study aims to explore the measurement of potential synergies between water management objectives and other ecosystem services generated by Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in the context of urban planning. The research also investigates the comparative benefits of two analytical methods, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) and green area factor for districts (GAFD). The study employs Malmi district in Helsinki, Finland, as a case study, examining five distinct NBS scenarios with varying degrees of integration. The results affirm that NBS can indeed enhance ecosystem services provision and stormwater management. The comparative analysis of the two methods, reveals that scenarios with high green factors exhibit effective flood risk reduction, while those with low green factors struggle to manage water, emphasizing the importance of balancing green and built elements in urban planning for optimal flood risk reduction. Furthermore, the study underscores the advantages of the two methods: GAFD offers simplicity and lower expertise requirements, generating valuable insights into ecosystem services, while SWMM provides precise stormwater management data. The findings emphasize the significance of diverse NBS combinations that harness the multifunctional aspects of green infrastructure, highlighting the need for integrated urban planning. The utilization of GAFD analysis provides a comprehensive districtwide perspective in a flexible manner, thereby improving the comprehension of the interconnected nature of urban green spaces. Highlights: Nature-based solutions (NBS) support urban stormwater management in infill areas.Green Area Factor for Districts (GAFD) is a practical tool to compare NBS options.GAFD and SWMM modeling results on stormwaters are comparable for common rain events.NBS size, quality and diversity reduce peak flows and enhance ecosystem services.Assessment of scenarios with the GAFD tool helps to identify multiple benefits of NBS.Peer reviewe
