Cardiac tumors are rare, and their diagnosis is a clinical problem associated with significant heterogeneity of pathology. The purpose of this publication is to report a rare known disease and analyze the problem for the purpose of medical education. In a case report, the following characteristic signs of a heart tumor were demonstrated: rapid progression of heart failure symptoms, systemic manifestations (anemia, severe weakness). The results of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography made it possible to interpret the intracardiac mass as a tumor recurrence. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of left atrial rhabdomyosarcoma. A specific of this case is the tumor recurrence 2 years after surgery

Computer analysis of regulation of hepatocarcinoma marker genes hypermethylated by HCV proteins

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a risk factor that leads to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. Epigenetic changes are known to play an important role in the molecular genetic mechanisms of virus-induced oncogenesis. Aber rant DNA methylation is a mediator of epigenetic changes that are closely associated with the HCC pathogenesis and considered a biomarker for its early diagnosis. The ANDSystem software package was used to reconstruct and evaluate the statistical significance of the pathways HCV could potentially use to regulate 32 hypermethylated genes in HCC, including both oncosuppressor and protumorigenic ones identified by genome-wide analysis of DNA methylation. The reconstructed pathways included those affecting protein-protein interactions (PPI), gene expression, protein activity, stability, and transport regulations, the expression regulation pathways being statistically significant. It has been shown that 8 out of 10 HCV proteins were involved in these pathways, the HCV NS3 protein being implicated in the largest number of regulatory pathways. NS3 was associated with the regulation of 5 tumor-suppressor genes, which may be the evidence of its central role in HCC pathogenesis. Analysis of the reconstructed pathways has demonstrated that following the transcription factor inhibition caused by binding to viral proteins, the expression of a number of oncosuppressors (WT1, MGMT, SOCS1, P53) was suppressed, while the expression of others (RASF1, RUNX3, WIF1, DAPK1) was activated. Thus, the performed gene-network reconstruction has shown that HCV proteins can influence not only the methylation status of oncosuppressor genes, but also their transcriptional regulation. The results obtained can be used in the search for pharmacological targets to develop new drugs against HCV-induced HCC

Monitoring the composition of the oral fluid in the inhabitants of industrial areas

    Get PDF
Residents of industrial cities are under the influence of man-made environmental factors. Harmful chemicals, including those containing lead and cadmium, are found in the oral fluid, hard tooth tissues, dental plaque, tissue biopsy specimens. One of the manifestations of the negative effects on the body is the development of caries and inflammatory periodontal diseases. To monitor the composition of the oral fluid of residents of ecologically unfavorable areas, it is advisable to use the method of mass spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma. Based on the analysis of the composition of the oral fluid, it is advisable to personalize the approach in the selection of personal hygiene products of the oral cavity.

Objective: to justify the need for extensive use of innovative institutions, particularly intellectual property, to enhance the development of the innovation system. Methods: a systematic method of analysis and synthesis, dialectical, historical and logical methods, situational analysis and empirical generalizations, as well as the method of scenario planning of innovative entrepreneurship in Tatarstan Republic. Results: It has been proved that the innovative transformation of the economy requires an increase in the state support of innovative institutions and related institutional environment infrastructure of innovative economy. The priority directions of the Republic of Tatarstan economy innovative development are analyzed. The directions of innovative opportunities in Russia are identified, namely, the use of the potential of the new development institutions: the intellectual property and the venture capital. Scientific novelty: the necessity is stated of the development of the strategy (as a priority), institutions and mechanisms for the use of intellectual property on the basis of public-private partnership to accelerate the development of the sixth technological setup in Russia. It is argued that under the complex transformational processes it is vitally important to elaborate and implement a long-term state strategy aimed at the large-scale use of the domestic intellectual property. On the basis of the conducted research and processing of empirical data, the conclusion is made about the implementation of innovative scenario of Tatarstan economic development; the forecast has been made on increasing of the innovative products share in gross regional product in 2013-2017. Practical value: the possibility to use the author's recommendations for strengthening the innovative institutions and infrastructure of the Russian economy, the restructuring of its institutional environment, the use of special development institutions, especially the institution of intellectual property to activate all possibilities of the national innovative system

ACL - Eliminating Parameter Aliasing with Dynamic Dispatch

    No full text
We have implemented a new method for eliminating reference parameter aliases. This method allows procedure calls with overlapping call-by-reference parameters, but at the same time guarantees that procedure bodies are alias-free. The method involves writing multiple bodies for a procedure: one per aliasing combination. Calls are automatically dispatched to the appropriate procedure body based on the particular alias combination among the actual parameters and imported global variables. This makes writing verifiable client code simpler, since such code does not need to determine the aliasing combination before the procedure is called. The efficiency of dispatch to these bodies is no worse than hand-coded determination of the aliasing combination would be in other languages. In our experience, the number of necessary procedure bodies is usually small, which makes the approach practical. Forcing programmers to write one body for each aliasing combination also makes them consider each case..

We have designed and prototyped a new approach for eliminating reference parameter aliases. This approach allows procedure calls with overlapping call-by-reference parameters, but guarantees that procedure bodies are alias-free. It involves writing multiple bodies for a procedure: up to one body for each possible aliasing combination. Procedure calls are dispatched to the appropriate procedure body based on the alias combination that occurs among the actual parameters and imported global variables; errors are generated if there is no corresponding body. This approach makes writing verifiable client code simpler, since clients do not need to write code to determine the aliasing combination among actuals. Furthermore, since procedure bodies are free of aliases, their static analysis and verification is easier. The prototype language we have designed to explore these ideas incorporates some features to limit the number of alternative procedure bodies that a programmer must write
