    Educational Values in the Novel Jaša Dalmatin, the Viceroy of Gujarati by Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić

    Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (1874. ‒ 1938.), hrvatska spisateljica za djecu i mlade, odavno je ušla u hrvatski književni kanon. No o recepciji djela autorice može se govoriti, uglavnom, na razini romana Čudnovate zgode šegrta Hlapića te zbirci bajki Priče iz davnine. Kada je riječ o romanu Jaša Dalmatin, potkralj Gudžerata, književna i kritička recepcija gotovo potpuno izostaju. Autoričin objavljeni roman sastoji se od dvaju dovršenih dijelova te jednog nedovršenog (Zaključak), koji obuhvaća razdoblje od 1478. do 1509. godine, a više nalikuje na nacrt i buduću smjernicu za dovršetak romana. Za razumijevanje romana važan je i autoričin dodatak Kratki tumač nekojim stavkama Jaše Dalmatina koji se također može čitati kao svojevr- stan podtekst. Hrvat Jaša Dalmatin, osmanski sužanj, lik je graditelja i vizionara koji na obalama Indijskoga oceana gradi neosvojivi grad prema slici grada iz vlastita djetinjstva, Dubrovnika. Književni lik Jaše Dalmatina, te roman u cjelini, postaju poželjan identifikacijski model i odgojna orijentacija. U radu se analiziraju, tipologiziraju te hijerarhiziraju temeljne ljudske, odgojne, vrijednosti prema razinama divergencije između modernosti i pouke u dječjoj književnosti.Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (1874 – 1938), a Croatian children and youth authoress, entered the Croatian literary canon quite a long time ago. However, one may talk about the reception of her works mostly on the level of the novel The Marvelous Adventures of Hlapić the Apprentice and the fairy tale collection Croatian Tales of Long Ago. When it comes to the novel Jaša Dalmatin, the Viceroy of Gujarati, there is an almost complete absence of literary and critical reception. This novel is comprised of two completed and one incomplete part (Conclusion), which encompasses the period from 1478 to 1509, and resembles more a sketch and a guideline for the completion of a future novel. For an understanding of the novel, the authoress’ addendum, A Short Glossary of Certain Jaša Dalmatin’s Terms, is also important, and may be understood as a sort of subtext. The Croat, Jaša Dalmatin, an Ottoman slave, is a builder and visionary who erects on the shores of the Indian Ocean an unconquerable fortification based upon his own childhood image of his hometown, Dubrovnik. The character of Jaša Dalmatin, as well as the novel overall, have become a desirable identification model and an educational orientation. The paper provides an analyis, a typology, and a hierarchy of the fundamental human and educational values pursuant to the divergence levels between modernity and the moral education in children’s literatur

    THE CROATIAN ASSOCIATION OF PRISONERS IN SERBIAN CONCENTRATION CAMPS, OSIJEK-BARANJA COUNTY BRANCH: EDUCATIONAL WORK

    Hrvatsko društvo logoraša srpskih koncentracijskih logora osnovano je 1995. godine u Zagrebu. Društvo danas ima 13 podružnica te šest ogranaka, a u radu je dan osvrt na Podružnicu Osječko-baranjske županije koja je osnovana 20. svibnja 2000. Iako je prvotni cilj osnivanja Društva poboljšanje uvjeta života i ostvarivanje ciljeva socijalne i pravne zaštite bivših zatočenika logora, Društvo kontinuirano kulturno-glazbenim programom Sjećanje te mnogobrojnim drugim kulturnim i sportskim aktivnostima svesrdno promiče vrijednosti Domovinskoga rata. Surađujući s akademskom zajednicom, umjetnicima i sportašima te uključujući u svoje programe nastavnike i učenike osnovnih i srednjih škola, Hrvatsko društvo logoraša srpskih koncentracijskih logora posebno je usmjereno na odgojno i obrazovno djelovanje kako bi se teška i traumatična tematika Domovinskoga rata prikladno približila i školskoj populaciji. U radu je analizirana tematska i sadržajna aktivnost rada Društva u razdoblju od 2008. do 2018. godine, što pak ukazuje na važnost djelovanja ove braniteljske udruge u smislu odgojnoga i obrazovnoga rada.The Croatian Association of Prisoners in Serbian Concentration Camps was founded in Zagreb in 1995. Nowadays the Association has thirteen regional offices and six branches. This paper reviews the Osijek-Baranja County Branch founded on May 9, 2000. Even though the original aim was to improve the living conditions and to achieve the goals of social and legal protection of former detainees in the camp, the Association continually and greatly promotes the values of The Homeland War through the cultural and musical program Remembrance and through numerous other cultural and sport activities. Cooperating with the academic community, artists and athletes, and involving teachers and elementary and high school students in their programs, Croatian Association of Prisoners in Serbian Concentration Camps is particularly focused on educational activities so that the difficult and traumatic themes of the Homeland War can be brought over to the school population in an appropriate way. The paper analyzes the thematic and content-related activities of the Association in the period from 2008 to 2018, which points to the importance of the activities of this veterans’ association in terms of educational work

    Bioetičke teme u visokoškolskoj nastavi budućih odgojitelja i učitelja

    Bioethics, as a newer scientific discipline answers questions about the life of the contemporary man in an interdisciplinary way, and we use education to express what kind of a society and what kind of a man we want. Values on which the educational system in the Republic of Croatia is based are viewed as a new possibility to develop the Croatian national, cultural, and spiritual identity within complex globalization processes. In the era of globalization, informational and technological improvement, one of the hardest efforts of the modern age is the upbringing of children in the changed circumstances, which consequently reflects on the style of education and the conditions in which education is conducted. The aims of the upbringing focus the educational practice and the pedagogical action, while the responsibility and the complex task is bestowed upon educators/teachers. The importance of initial education of educators/ teachers is irrefutable today. To be an educator is a vocation/profession with specific professional standards and ethical rules of the teaching profession, inspired by the values of social inclusion and the needs of the child/pupil. This paper deals with a comparative analysis of study programmes and learning outcomes in the Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate University Teacher Study, as well as University Study of Early and Preschool Education at the Faculty of Education in Osijek, focused on the (bio)ethics, education and ethics of the teacher’s calling. Students, future preschool/primary school teachers during the study need to be made aware of the sensitivity in ethical decision-making in the future profession, as well as solving the problems which influence on building the character, because ethics and bioethics need to fulfil important social and individual aspects of education.Bioetika kao novija znanstvena disciplina interdisciplinarno odgovara na pitanja o životu suvremenog čovjeka, a odgojem i obrazovanjem izričemo kakvo društvo i kakvog čovjeka želimo. Vrijednosti na kojima se temelji odgojnoobrazovni sustav u Republici Hrvatskoj sagledava se kao nova mogućnost razvoja hrvatskoga nacionalnoga, kulturnoga i duhovnoga identiteta unutar složenih globalizacijskih procesa. U eri globalizacije, informacijskog i tehnološkog napretka jedan od najtežih poslova modernog doba je odgoj djece u promijenjenim okolnostima što se posljedično reflektira na stil odgoja i uvjete u kojima se odvija odgoj i obrazovanje. Ciljevi odgoja usmjeravaju odgojnoobrazovnu praksu i pedagoško djelovanje u njoj, a odgovornost i složenu zadaća imaju upravo odgojitelji/učitelji. Važnost inicijalnog obrazovanja odgojitelja/ učitelja neupitna je danas. Biti odgojiteljem/učiteljem je zvanje/profesija s jedinstvenim profesionalnim standardima i etičkim pravilima učiteljske profesije nadahnuta vrijednostima društvene uključenosti i potrebama njegovanja potencijala svakog djeteta/učenika. Rad se bavi komparativnom analizom studijskih programa i ishoda učenja u Sveučilišnom studijskom programu ranoga i predškolskog odgoja i obrazovanja i u Integriranom preddiplomskom i diplomskom studijskom programu za učitelje na Fakultetu za odgojne i obrazovne znanosti u Osijeku usmjerenih na područje (bio)etike, odgoja te etike učiteljskoga poziva. Studente, buduće odgojitelje/učitelje tijekom studija, potrebno je senzibilizirati za osjetljivost u budućoj struci u etičkom odlučivanju i rješavanju problema koji utječu na oblikovanje karaktera jer etika i bioetika trebaju ispunjavati važne društvene i individualne aspekte odgoja i obrazovanja

    Education for Ecological Values in Croatian Language Textbooks for Lower Primary Schools

    Budući da je u hrvatskom odgojno–obrazovnom sustavu veći naglasak na obrazovnom aspektu nego na odgojnom, potreba promišljanja o ekološkom odgoju mora zauzimati važno mjesto u nastavi. Predmet Hrvatski jezik strukturno i organizacijski obuhvaća tri povezana predmetna područja, pa je potrebno promišljati o mogućnostima koje nastava hrvatskoga jezika pruža. U radu su analizirani tekstovi u udžbenicima za predmet Hrvatski jezik od 1. do 4. razreda osnovne škole koji mogu posredovati ekološke vrijednosti.Our research on environmental topics in textbooks is based on the assertion that life must have its own ideals and values because they give life a human meaning, an ethical connotation and beauty as well. In reflecting on the importance of education for values and the fact that the Croatian education system lays more emphasis on the educational aspect than that of formation, one may conclude that environmental education must occupy a much more important place in modern teaching. Seeing as the Croatian Language as a subject in Primary and Secondary Schools in the Republic of Croatia includes — structurally and organizationally — three related fields of study (The Croatian Language and Communication, Literature and Creativity, Culture and the Media), one must consider the numerous possibilities which the teaching of this subject provides.
