    New Insights for Hormone Therapy in Perimenopausal Women Neuroprotection

    Perimenopause is a mandatory period in women’s life, when the medical staff may initiate hormone therapy with sex steroids for the delay of brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases, during the so-called “window of opportunity.” Animals’ models are helpful to sustain the still controversial results of human clinical observational and/or randomized controlled studies. Estrogens, progesterone, and androgens, with their nuclear and membrane receptors, genes, and epigenetics, with their connections to cholinergic, GABAergic, serotoninergic, and glutamatergic systems are involved in women’s normal brain or in brain’s pathology. The sex steroids are active through direct and/or indirect mechanisms to modulate and/or to protect brain plasticity, and vessels network, fuel metabolism—glucose, ketones, ATP, to reduce insulin resistance, and inflammation of the aging brain through blood-brain barrier disruption, microglial aberrant activation, and neural cell survival/loss

    Endocrine and neural senescence overlap in time, by intertwined complex feedback loops. Womens’ brain is genetically more prone to suffer during life, and perimenopause is a “critical period” in neuroaging, when the degenerative processes begin. Many hypotheses on the multifactorial nature of women’s brain aging are elaborated, and tested in high-tech research centers. The most analyzed Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized not only by Aβ oligomers and fibrils accumulation, but also by metabolic and inflammatory changes, with the onset during menopausal transition and early years of menopause. Deep analysis of endocrine, neural, and metabolic pathways are giving new insights to the sequential view of Aβ-centric in AD pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment from perimenopause, for maintaining women’s neurological health

    The dynamics of regional inequalities in Romania. Comparative analysis between the major crises – financial and sanitary

    In Romania, the issue of economic inequalities and regional convergence is one of the current important topics on which the attention of economic specialists and the decision-making factors is focused. In the current context, the regional policy in Romania is implemented at regional level, the regions being formed by counties that have voluntarily associated on the basis of a convention signed by the representatives of the county councils, respectively of the General Council of Bucharest. The paper is based on the analysis of the differences between the regions of Romania, in the period 2008-2022, during the COVID-19 pandemic, by highlighting the differences between the dynamics of certain indicators, of the analysis of the GINI index for measuring inequalities, trying to answer the question which of the two crises, financial or health, affected the level of territorial inequalities more and what was the evolution of the regions of Romania in these two sub-periods

    Condensation of the singularities in the theory of operator ideals

    In the present paper there are given some applications of the principle of condensation of the singularities of families of nonnegative functions established by W. W. Breckner in 1984. They reveal Baire category information on certain subsets of a normed linear space XX of the second category that are defined by means of an inequality of the type f(x)<∞f(x)<\infty, where ff is a given function from XX to [0,∞][0,\infty]. Sets of this type occur frequently in the theory of operator ideals. They are constructed individually by using entropy or approximation numbers of operators. By specializing the general results given in the paper it follows that such operator sets are of the first category, while their complements are residual GδG_\delta-sets, of the second category, uncountable and dense

    Head and Neck Mesenchymal Tumors with Kinase Fusions:A Report of 15 Cases with Emphasis on Wide Anatomic Distribution and Diverse Histologic Appearance

    Mesenchymal tumors harboring various kinase fusions were recently recognized as emerging entities mainly in the soft tissues. We herein investigate the clinicopathologic and molecular characteristics of head and neck mesenchymal tumors harboring kinase fusions. The study cohort included 15 patients with a median age of 13 years (ranging from congenital to 63 y). The kinase genes involved in descending order were NTRK1 (n=6), NTRK3 (n=5), BRAF (n=2), and 1 each with MET, and RET. The anatomic locations were broad involving all tissue planes, including skin (n=4), intraosseous (n=4), major salivary glands (n=2), sinonasal tract (n=2), soft tissue of face or neck (n=2), and oral cavity (n=1). The histologic spectrum ranged from benign to high grade, in descending order including tumors resembling malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST)-like, fibrosarcoma (infantile or adult-type), lipofibromatosis-like neural tumor (LPFNT), inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor-like, and a novel phenotype resembling myxoma. Perivascular hyalinization/stromal keloid-like collagen bands and staghorn vasculature were common features in MPNST-like and LPFNT-like tumors. Two tumors (1 each with NTRK1 or BRAF rearrangement) were classified as high grade. By immunohistochemistry, S100 and CD34 positivity was noted in 71% and 60%, frequently in MPNST-like and LPFNT-like phenotypes. Pan-TRK was a sensitive marker for NTRK-translocated tumors but was negative in tumor with other kinase fusions. One patient with a high-grade tumor developed distant metastasis. Molecular testing for various kinase fusions should be considered for S100+/CD34+ spindle cell neoplasms with perivascular hyalinization and staghorn vessels, as pan-TRK positivity is seen only in NTRK fusions.</p

    In this paper we propose to determine the number of tubers / nest from three potato varieties grown in organic conditions Bivolari micro area, village Trifesti The experience was located within Agricole Society Trifesti Astra, company standard of agriculture in Romania. From a climate perspective, the area is characterized by cold winters and hot summers.It was installed on trifactorial experiences in 3 repetitions of the type 4Ax3Bx2C, being studied five varieties of potato. In this paper we present partial results of three varieties Factors are studied, A Factor – Foliar fertilizing, with graduations, a1- not fertilized,a2 – NPK,a3- ECO 1,a4- ECO 2, B Factor– Foliar fertiliozing : b- Adora A, România, variety, b2 - Adora E, Olanda, variety, b3- Velox A, Factorul C – vegetation treatment with organic herbicide: c1- treatment with Novodor ( 4l/ha),c2 treatment with NeemAzal (2l/ha).     The research is aimed at achieving a study on harmful and useful Entomofauna in some agricultural crops seed located in the territory of SC Astra Trifesti, Iasi County. The objectives fall within the current directions of biological research on biodiversity knowledge and different groups of insects in horticultural research on knowledge entomofauna useful and trophic relations established between parasites and their hosts represented by insect pests in agriculture. Mainly these issues will follow the corn seed lots produced in different Socet companies. The research was took place and during 2011, especially Phases of growth 0 – (Sprouting - East) Phases of growth 0,5 - (two leaves fully formed) Phases of growth 1 - (four leaves fully formed) Phases of growth 1,5 - (six leaves fully formed), Phases of growth 2 - eight fully formed leaves), Phases of growth 2,5 -(ten leaves fully formed). The main pests of this crop are: Tanymecus dilaticolli, Agriotes spp., Scotia segetum Schiff, Ostrinia nubilalis Hb, Diabrotica virgifera virgifera Le Conte, Anoxia villosa L. The study was conducted in order to track and have followed the main pests of this crop, it was made regular observations directly on the farm. In addition to direct observations on the farm, also harvesting samples and evidence using the beeing method and traps soil type Barber. Specify that in the stationary from the SC Astra Trifesti, Iasi County, samples collected was made from different seed lots in terms of cultivation technology

    EBV-Associated Smooth Muscle Neoplasms: Solid Tumors Arising in the Presence of Immunosuppression and Autoimmune Diseases

    Background. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-related smooth muscle neoplasms (SMNs) have been associated with immune dysregulation, most notably in patients who have undergone solid organ transplantation or in patients with HIV/AIDS. Objective. to report our experience with EBV-related neoplasms as well as describing the first EBV-related SMN in the setting of administration of glucocorticoids and the tumor necrosis factor inhibitor etanercept. Design. We have case reports, of minimum 3-year follow-up, 2002–2005. Setting. It was held in an academic and tertiary referral cancer center. Patients. Patients are with dysregulated immunity after solid organ transplantation, HIV/AIDS, or with psoriasis after treatment with etanercept. Interventions. There were discontinuation of etanercept, right hepatic trisegmentectomy, and chemotherapy. Measurements. We use survival as a measurement here. Results. Patients who were able to withstand reduction in immunosuppression survived. Surgical resection or chemotherapy was successful in delaying progression of disease. Limitations. There was a relatively short follow-up for these slow-growing neoplasms. Conclusion. EBV-related SMNs have variable aggressiveness. While chemotherapy may slow disease progression, resection and improving the host immune status provide the best opportunity for primary tumor control
