In the Liberal Monarchy and the 1st Republic, the political control of the MisericĂłrdias was a way of party struggle. Few important MisericĂłrdias escaped of administrative committees and in some of these institutions the commissions followed the government changes without disguises. In other cases, remaining an apparent electoral normality, the elections for the governing bodies were heavily manipulated. Under the dictatorship, without a multiparty system, the MisericĂłrdias lost interest as electoral mechanisms, but they were powerful weapons of framing and political surveillance. The interference and domination of the central government on the MisericĂłrdias reached its peak during the Estado Novo. After determining the level of control by the central government and by established local elites on the MisericĂłrdias, I will sketch briefly the profiles of its leaders and their motivations for seeking directorships and, finally, I will refer the emerging ideological currents that sought to take over these institutions over 112 year
Making their Gospel known: the work and legacy of the Aboriginal Inland Mission, 1905-1938
This thesis examines the work of the Aboriginal Inland Mission between its origins in Singleton in 1905 and the founding of its first Indigenous training college in 1938. It looks at its place in the history of faith missions, evangelical Christianity and white intervention in Aboriginal lives in Australia at the turn of the century. This includes a localised study of the AIM in the Singleton region, and their administration of a Children’s Home. It contends that while the AIM was complicit in attempts to assimilate Aboriginal people, it was also radical in its compassionate attitude, as well as offering opportunities for leadership and networking
Qualidade do processamento sensorial e vinculação infantil
observando a dĂade no procedimento Situação Estranha.
factores ambientais (nĂvel sĂłcio-econĂłmico dos pais; existĂŞncia de internamentos hospitalares;
Porém, a boa
Abstract: In this study we examine the relation between the security of infant bonding and
the quality of sensory processing in early childhood. For this purpose, a normative sample of
mother-infant dyads was selected. Forty infants from 11 to18 months old comprised the sample.
The Strange Situation was used to assess infant-mother bonding, and Sensory Processing was
evaluated by the Test of Sensory Functions. A score including four environmental variables
(parents SES, hospital stays, parity and caring) predicted the quality of infant-mother bonding
(secure, insecure and atypical attachment). Nevertheless, no direct relation between infantmother
bonding and infants’ quality sensory processing was found. Our results, suggest that
Bien que le “Test of Sensory Functions in Infants” n’ait présenté aucune valeur
Modelling the GSM handover protocol in CommUnity
CommUnity is a formal approach to software architecture. It has a precise, yet intuitive mathematical semantics based on category theory. It supports, at the methodological level, a clear separation between computation, coordination, and distribution (including mobility). It provides a simple state-based language for describing component behaviour that is inspired by Unity and Interacting Processes. It also addresses composition as a first class concern and accounts for the emergence of global system properties from interconnections. This paper describes the approach and available tool support by modelling essential aspects of the GSM handover protocol. We also sketch a framework that we are implementing for the distributed execution of such specifications using Klava, a Java library for mobile agent systems based on tuple spaces
Architectural primitives for distribution and mobility
In this paper, we address the integration of a distribution dimension in an architectural approach to system development and evolution based on the separation between coordination and computation. This third dimension allows us to separate key concerns raised by mobility, thus contributing to our ability to handle the complexity that is inherent to systems required to operate in 'Internet time and space'
