Formal concept analysis for evaluating intrinsic dimension of a natural language
Some results of a computational experiment for determining the intrinsic
dimension of linguistic varieties for the Bengali and Russian languages are
presented. At the same time, both sets of words and sets of bigrams in these
languages were considered separately. The method used to solve this problem was
based on formal concept analysis algorithms. It was found that the intrinsic
dimensions of these languages are significantly less than the dimensions used
in popular neural network models in natural language processing.Comment: Preprint, 10th International Conference on Pattern Recognition and

Intraoperative Monitoring in Neurosurgery
Coordonator ştiinţific: Andronachi Victor
Institutul de Neurologie şi NeurochirurgieIONM is the application of a variety of electrophysiological and vascular monitoring procedures during surgery to allow early warning and avoidance of injury to nervous system structures. This article highlights advances in IOM technologies including the use of motor and somatosensory evoked potentials to assess the integrity of descending corticospinal and ascending somatosensory pathways, electromyography to assess the integrity of cranial nerves or spinal nerve roots, various approaches including brainstem auditory evoked potentials and cochlear nerve action potentials to enhance the safety of vestibular schwannoma surgery.
Convective Term and Transversely Driven Charge-Density Waves
We derive the convective terms in the damping which determine the structure
of the moving charge-density wave (CDW), and study the effect of a current
flowing transverse to conducting chains on the CDW dynamics along the chains.
In contrast to a recent prediction we find that the effect is orders of
magnitude smaller, and that contributions from transverse currents of electron-
and hole-like quasiparticles to the force exerted on the CDW along the chains
act in the opposite directions. We discuss recent experimental verification of
the effect and demonstrate experimentally that geometry effects might mimic the
transverse current effect.Comment: RevTeX, 9 pages, 1 figure, accepted for publications in PR
