Comparison of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii and top-fermenting brewing yeast strains during the fermentation of model nutrient media and beer wort
Received: June 27th, 2022 ; Accepted: September 18th, 2022 ; Published: October 17th, 2022 ; Correspondence: [email protected], the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii have attracted the
attention of Food Science researchers due to their unique properties, the main among which are
probiotics. Thus, research is conducted on the use of this yeast as a starter culture in the
technology of yogurt, fermented vegetables, fruit, vegetable juices, as well as beer. This paper is
aimed at studying Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii 's fermentation performance
compared to top-fermenting brewing yeast strains during fermentation of model nutrient media
and beer wort. Fermentation activity of the studied strains was assessed based on the character of
fermentation curves, as well as the values of the maximum substrate assimilation rate and
apparent degree of fermentation. Moreover, during the study, beer was produced using the yeast
Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii as a starter culture. According to the obtained results, it
can be concluded that Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii have less fermentation activity
compared to brewing strains. In turn, beer produced with Saccharomyces cerevisiae var.
boulardiisignificantly differed in physicochemical, microbiological, and organoleptic parameters
from the control sample obtained using the 047A brewing strain. Thus, it contained less ethanol
and secondary metabolites; however, the concentration of living cells was significantly higher,
which indicates a relatively high viability of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii.
From an organoleptic point of view, final beer has a positive sensory profile. The aroma of the
product had a complex character: it included caramel, spicy, fruity and phenolic notes, as well as
smoked and wine elements; while honey was the dominant note of the taste
Design and simulation of a SOI based mems differential accelerometer
In this paper, the design and analysis of a differential MEMS capacitive accelerometer is presented. The device is designed to be compatible for SOI based fabrication process. The outstanding mechanical and electrical properties of silicon on insulator (SOI) wafers make it popular for high-performance MEMS sensors such as accelerometers. The operating range of the designed device is 0-10g with its sense axis in the in-plane direction. The movable comb fingers attached to the proof mass form capacitors with the fixed electrode fingers. The movable and fixed fingers are spaced with unequal gaps to form the differential capacitive sensing configuration. The base capacitance of this configuration is about 0.77pF and the sensitivity in response to acceleration input is about 0.776 fF/g. The resonance frequency of the structure in the sensing mode is found to be 7.138 kHz.The work was partially funded by the Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science
Современные аспекты терапии беременных с гипертонической болезнью
The article discusses pregnancy course and labor outcomes in women with chronic hypertension. We divided all pregnant into two groups in dependence on the kind of antihypertensive treatment. The main group treatment was nebivalol monotherapy, the control group took combined medications in different compositions (atenolol, methyldopa, nifedipin). We revealed nebivalol therapy significantly decreased the number of gestational complications and adverse perinatal outcomes and in pregnant with chronic hypertension.
Design, simulation and fabrication process of a SOI based 2-DOF vibratory gyroscope
This paper reports the design, simulation and fabrication process for a 2-DOF decoupled vibratory gyroscope. The structure is deliberately designed to have decoupled drive and sense mode oscillation to prevent unstable operation due to mechanical coupling, resulting in low zero rate out-put drift. At the same time, the closer the drive and sense resonances are, the higher is the angular rate resolution of the gyroscope. This can be achieved by using symmetric suspensions, but it results in reduced bandwidth. The proposed design has been configured to achieve about 150 Hz bandwidth, while ensuring decoupled operation of the drive and sense modes. Fem analysis has been carried out in CoventorWare® MEMS DESIGN software and simulation results show that the drive resonance occurs at 21.48 kHz and sense resonance at 21.63 kHz. The structure is designed for 15 µm this device layer. Fabrication of the design is proposed using DRIE and sacrificial release etching on SOI wafer. DRIE etching with high aspect ratio has been successfully carried out as desired and the results have been presented
"Tomography" of the cluster structure of light nuclei via relativistic dissociation
These lecture notes present the capabilities of relativistic nuclear physics
for the development of the physics of nuclear clusters. Nuclear track emulsion
continues to be an effective technique for pilot studies that allows one, in
particular, to study the cluster dissociation of a wide variety of light
relativistic nuclei within a common approach. Despite the fact that the
capabilities of the relativistic fragmentation for the study of nuclear
clustering were recognized quite a long time ago, electronic experiments have
not been able to come closer to an integrated analysis of ensembles of
relativistic fragments. The continued pause in the investigation of the "fine"
structure of relativistic fragmentation has led to resumption of regular
exposures of nuclear emulsions in beams of light nuclei produced for the first
time at the Nuclotron of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR,
Dubna). To date, an analysis of the peripheral interactions of relativistic
isotopes of beryllium, boron, carbon and nitrogen, including radioactive ones,
with nuclei of the emulsion composition, has been performed, which allows the
clustering pattern to be presented for a whole family of light nuclei.Comment: ISBN 978-3-319-01076-2. 55 pages, 28 figure
On the cardinality of layers in even-valued n-dimensional lattice
In this article, we explicitly calculated terms additional to the main one of cardinality asymptotics of central layers in the n-dimensional k-valued lattice Ekn for even k as n → ∞. The main term had been found by V.B. Alekseev for a certain class of posets. The case of odd k , which is technically less complicated, was the major focus of our previous work
Basic biological parameters of white-eye bream Abramis Sapa
© 2020, Advanced Scientific Research. All rights reserved. Of the goal of this study is to investigate the structure and basic biological parameters of white-eye bream Abramis sapa (Pallas, 1814), which give the information about the state of population of this specie in the conditions of Sviyaga Bay of the Kuibyshev Reservoir. The parameters such as gender, size and age structure of white-eye bream were considered, on the basis of the control catches, obtained as a result of trap-net fishing in 2013-2017. Based on the investigation the male/female ratio was 1:1, with some predominance of females in certain years. Weight and dimensional parameters varied over years and were slightly lower than in the previous periods of study. The observed trend towards a certain decrease in the size of white-eye bream may be associated with the presence and availability of food supply, its composition. White-eye bream females have larger sizes and greater body mass than males, and due to this, they can successfully compete for food with main competitors. Moreover, the females are able to avoid pressure of juvenile fish of predatory species. The age structure shows relatively unstable state of the white-eye bream population in the reservoir. The age structure of white-eye bream in the period 2013-2017 was represented by 2-9 years-old fish. The age of most fish ranged from 4 to 5 years; 8-9 years-old fish were noted only in some years and comprised from 3 to 6% of the control catches. The index of Fulton's condition factor to a greater extent reflects the physiological state, first of all, the degree of maturity of reproductive products and the degree of fish feeding, i.e. the amount of food in the digestive tract
