    FDI And Economic Growth. Evidence From Simultaneous Equation Models

    This paper analyses whether foreign direct investments have an impact on the Romanian economic growth. By means of simultaneous equation methods we obtained evidence of the bi-directional connection between the two, meaning that incoming FDI stimulates economic growth and, in its turn, a higher GDP attracts FDI. Two methods were used in performing the analysis, one considering the relation between the share of FDI in GDP and economic growth in a five-equation system and the second considering the levels of FDI and GDP, respectively, in a two-equation system.foreign direct investment, economic growth, simultaneous equation models

    Economic time series are, in their vast majority, integrated series so, their modelling procedure stumbles upon the problem of spurious regression. When existent, cointegration is the simplest way of eliminating the illogical correlation established between time series due to the presence of trends. The analysis of macroeconomic time series through cointegration is a common fact.     Health care practitioners continually confront with a wide range of challenges, seeking to making difficult diagnoses, avoiding errors, ensuring highest quality, maximizing efficacy and reducing costs. Information technology has the potential to reduce clinical errors and to im-prove the decision making in the clinical milieu. This paper presents a pilot development of a clinical decision support systems (CDSS) entitled MEDIS that was designed to incorporate knowledge from heterogeneous environments with the purpose of increasing the efficiency and the quality of the decision making process, and reducing costs based on advances of in-formation technologies, especially under the impact of the transition towards the mobile space.     Regional economic development supported by sustainable tourism

    The subject of sustainable tourism has been increasingly discussed in recent years because the complex connection between the environment and the economy has been acknowledged, and there is a pressing need for the integration of these two components, which means the foundation on the premises of a deep and lasting development, which generates a positive impact on society as a whole. According to the specialized literature, the paradigms in the tourism industry are changing. This shows what are the challenges facing the tourism sector today and requires special attention from the authorities and the economic agents involved, who must guide this industry towards a sustainable development in the future.Taking these findings as a starting point, we proposed for our research to highlight, in the first part, the role of tourism on the regional development and secondly the measurement of the impact of tourism, practiced intensively and extensively, on the environmental factors through a series of qualitative and quantitative indicators, highlighted the fact that the damage of the environment over time implicitly leads to the damage of the economic growth.     Implementing and Running a Workflow Application on Cloud Resources

    Scientist need to run applications that are time and resource consuming, but, not all of them, have the requires knowledge to run this applications in a parallel manner, by using grid, cluster or cloud resources. In the past few years many workflow building frameworks were developed in order to help scientist take a better advantage of computing resources, by designing workflows based on their applications and executing them on heterogeneous resources. This paper presents a case study of implementing and running a workflow for an E-bay data retrieval application. The workflow was designed using Askalon framework and executed on the cloud resources.     Technologies for the Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides Emissions

    When it comes to gas turbines, their main problem concerning pollutant emissions is represented by nitric oxides. Among other emissions, sulphur oxides being much reduced due to the use of liquid distilled and gas fuels with a low content of sulphur. Using water or steam injection became the favourite method during the '80s and especially the '90s since "dry" methods and catalytic reduction were both at the beginning of the development phase. Catalytic convertors have been used since the '80s and they are still used although the costs of renewing the catalyst are very high. In the last twenty years a gradual decrease has been registered on the limits of nitric oxides from 75 ppm to 25 ppm, and now the target is oriented towards the 9 ppm level. The evolution of burning technologies of combustion makes it possible to control the level of production of nitric oxides even from the source without being necessary to use "humid" methods. This, of course, opened the market for gas turbines because they can function even in areas with limited quality water reserves, such as maritime platforms and in the desert. In this paper, we are going to show that, although water injection is still used, "dry" control technologies of burning became favourite methods for the majority of users on the industrial power generators market. The great dependency between the creation of nitric oxides and the temperature reveals the effect of direct water or steam injection on reducing nitric oxides. Recent research showed that a reduction up to 85% of nitric oxides may be obtained by using the water or steam injection all together with the improvement of aerodynamic character of the burning room

Thepurpose of this paper is to investigate different aspects that can define the personal vision of astudent who wants to start his business in the near future. The authors analysed personal visionthrough the prism of some variables identified in 3 sections: lifestyle, professional and financialcriteria, using SPSS 20.0 Software. The results pointed out that there is a relationship between thenumber of hours worked in the maturity phase of a business and the students’ priority, but alsobetween the value of personal investment and the value for the desired profit, while for those whothink that a business supports and cultivates morals, beliefs and standards, family involvement isimportant in their company running
