Por tanto, se concluye que la innovaci?n mediados por M- learning permite fortalecer procesos de lectura en el nivel inferencialThe problems in reading comprehension are estimated as one of the influential factors in the problems of the quality of education in Colombia, in response to this problem, the results of the m-Learning research are presented in this article as a strategy for strengthening of the inferential level in reading comprehension in fifth grade students of an educational institution in the municipality of Cartago - Valle del Cauca, which was carried out with the objective of strengthening the inferential level in reading comprehension through the m-Learning strategy. For this research, the qualitative methodological approach was applied with a participatory action research approach, where 30 fifth grade students participated. The results showed that the inferential reading level was strengthened from a low level with 36% to 0%, from the basic level from 7% to 3%, from a high level from 17% to 37% and from an initial higher level of 7% to one of 60% respectively. Therefore, it is concluded that innovation mediated by M-learning allows strengthening reading processes at the inferential level

Stratifying diffuse large B-cell lymphoma patients treated with chemoimmunotherapy: GCB/non-GCB by immunohistochemistry is still a robust and feasible marker

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a heterogeneous group of aggressive lymphomas that can be classified into three molecular subtypes by gene expression profiling (GEP): GCB, ABC and unclassified. Immunohistochemistry-based cell of origin (COO) classification, as a surrogate for GEP, using three available immunohistochemical algorithms was evaluated in TMA-arranged tissue samples from 297 patients with de novo DLBCL treated by chemoimmunotherapy (R-CHOP and R-CHOP-like regimens). Additionally, the prognostic impacts of MYC, BCL2, IRF4 and BCL6 abnormalities detected by FISH, the relationship between the immunohistochemical COO classification and the immunohistochemical expression of MYC, BCL2 and pSTAT3 proteins and clinical data were evaluated. In our series, non-GCB DLBCL patients had significantly worse progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), as calculated using the Choi, Visco-Young and Hans algorithms, indicating that any of these algorithms would be appropriate for identifying patients who require alternative therapies to R-CHOP. Whilst MYC abnormalities had no impact on clinical outcome in the non-GCB subtype, those patients with isolated MYC rearrangements and a GCB-DLBCL phenotype had worse PFS and therefore might benefit from novel treatment approaches

Fondaparinux in the initial and long-term treatment of venous thromboembolism

BACKGROUND: Even in the absence of evidence on its long-term efficacy and safety, a number of patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) receive long-term therapy with fondaparinux alone in everyday practice. METHODS: We used the Registro Informatizado de Enfermedad Tromboemb\uf3lica (RIETE) registry to compare the rate of VTE recurrences and major bleeding at 10 and 90 days in patients with and without cancer. For long-term therapy, fondaparinux was compared with vitamin K antagonists (VKA) in patients without cancer and with low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) in those with cancer. RESULTS: Of 47,378 patients recruited, 46,513 were initially treated with heparin, 865 with fondaparinux. Then, 263 patients (78 with cancer) were treated for at least 3 months with fondaparinux. After propensity-score matching, there were no differences between patients receiving initial therapy with heparin or fondaparinux. Among patients with cancer, there were no differences between fondaparinux and LMWH. Among patients without cancer, the long-term use of fondaparinux was associated with an increased risk of major bleeding (3.24 % vs. 0.95 %, p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: An unexpected high rate of major bleeding was observed in non-cancer patients treated with long-term fondaparinux. Our small sample does not allow to derive relevant conclusions on the use of fondaparinux in cancer patients
