Observatons of NGC 3077 Galaxy in Narrow Band [SII] and H_alpha Filters

We present observations of the HI tidal arm near dwarf galaxy NGC 3077 (member of the M81 galaxy group) in narrow band [SII] and H_alpha filters. Observations were carried out in March 2011 with the 2m RCC telescope at NAO Rozhen, Bulgaria. Our search for possible supernova remnant candidates (identified as sources with enhanced [SII] emission relative to their H_alpha emission) in this region yielded no sources of this kind. Nevertheless, we found a number of objects with significant H_alpha emission that probably represent uncatalogued, low brightness HII regions.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure, 3 tables, Proceedings of the 8th Serbian Conference on Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics, 2011 June 5-10, Divcibare, Serbi

STRUCTURAL-MECHANICS ANALYSIS OF THE 10G TRANSFORMER IMPACT

    Get PDF
Transportation of the power transformers from the site of production to the site of the exploitation is very complex and sensible task. During transportation, the transformer can be subjected to a variety of different impacts registered either during railway transportation or during on/off loading. The transformer should be designed to sustain the high accelerations appearing often during transportation. Transformer are usually equipped with the impact recorder to registry the acceleration behavior during the transport. In the current paper, we give an overview on the structural-mechanics analysis of 10g impact on the power transformer registered during the railway transportation of the transformer from Canada to US

The possibility of the investment performances assessment is especially important in the dynamic business conditions. Hence, the appropriate methodology enables an optimal investment decision. The main objective of the research is to test and analyse the possibility of fuzzy linear programming application in the investment processes with special attention to the investment performances. The methodology used in the research understands the methods of analyses and synthesis and also application of the fuzzy linear programming. The quantitative and qualitative results of the research imply that the application of fuzzy linear programming provide important information about the effects from the investment activities

Efficient Portfolio Selection and Its Applications to Decision Making

    Get PDF
Abstract—Dynamic nature of investment return requires the application of the appropriate methodology, especially regarding enhanced volatility induced by frequent extreme events occurrence. The subject of the research is to analyze the possibility of efficient portfolio selection on the transitional financial market of the Republic of Serbia.  The main objective is to gather empirical evidence about the investment portfolio performance with special attention to the decision making process. The methodology in the research implies the usage of the appropriate portfolio optimization methods. The research results stress the significance of efficient portfolio selection in contemporary business conditions. It can be concluded that it is necessary to examine the volatility of the portfolio assets and thus enabling the efficient portfolio selection, which is especially challenging on transitional markets

    Efficient management in environmental protection

    Get PDF
The subject of this study is to research, analyse and assess the causal relations between efficient management as a useful and necessary "tool" in the daily operations and the modern aspects of environmental protection in contemporary business conditions. The research objective is to achieve the concrete, practically confirmed knowledge of practical, actually usable relation between efficient management and modern aspects and trends of environmental protection. The study methodology includes descriptive and exploratory techniques, as well as analysis and synthesis. The main research hypothesis is that without an efficient management, the optimum approach to the environmental protection cannot be expected nor can an adequate relation towards environment be ensured. The research results provide actual information about the place, role and significance of efficient management in the contemporary environmental protection

Analysis of emloyees awareness of energy costs

    Get PDF
In this document analysis of employee awareness about energy costs in companies is given trough tests of questionnaire. There was tree main questions observed about other sources of energy, including fossil fuels and renewable energy as a supplementation and\or replacement for the electric energy. In the conducted research 150 respondent (employees) was included with their opinion about the importance of source of energy related to companies’ energy costs. In this paper relation between companies (employees) with higher energy costs and the level of awareness about different energy source is proven

Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and-9 (MMP-9) gene variants and microvascular complications in type 2 diabetes patients

AbstractVascular complications are the leading cause of increased morbidity and mortality of diabetic patients. It has been postulated that matrix metalloproteinases MMP-2 and MMP-9, zinc-dependent endopeptidases through remodeling of the extracellular matrix, can contribute to the onset and progression of diabetic vascular complications. The aim of our study was to assess whether there is a major difference in single nucleotide polymorphisms in the MMP-2 (at position -1306C˃T) and MMP-9 (at position -1562C˃T) gene in type 2 diabetic patients and healthy controls and to determine whether there is an association of these gene variants with the presence of microvascular complications in diabetic patients. Our study included 102 type 2 diabetes patients and a control group which was comprised of 56 healthy controls. All diabetic patients were screened for microvascular diabetes complications. Genotypes were detected by polymerase chain reactions followed by restriction analyses with specific endonucleases and their frequencies were determined. The MMP-2 variant -1306C>T showed a negative correlation with type 2 diabetes (p=0.028). It was also shown that the presence of the -1306C allele increases the probability of developing type 2 diabetes. This was a 2.2 fold increase and that the -1306 T allele has a protective role in regards t

RNAi-Mediated c-Rel Silencing Leads to Apoptosis of B Cell Tumor Cells and Suppresses Antigenic Immune Response In Vivo

    Get PDF
c-Rel is a member of the Rel/NF-κB transcription factor family and is predominantly expressed in lymphoid and myeloid cells, playing a critical role in lymphocyte proliferation and survival. Persistent activation of the c-Rel signal transduction pathway is associated with allergies, inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and a variety of human malignancies. To explore the potential of targeting c-Rel as a therapeutic agent for these disorders, we designed a small interfering RNA (siRNA) to silence c-Rel expression in vitro and in vivo. C-Rel-siRNA expression via a retroviral vector in a B cell tumor cell line leads to growth arrest and apoptosis of the tumor cells. Silencing c-Rel in primary B cells in vitro compromises their proliferative and survival response to CD40 activation signals, similar to the impaired response of c-Rel knockout B cells. Most important, in vivo silencing of c-Rel results in significant impairment in T cell-mediated immune responses to antigenic stimulation. Our study thus validates the efficacy of c-Rel-siRNA, and suggests the development of siRNA-based therapy, as well as small molecular inhibitors for the treatment of B cell tumors as well as autoimmune diseases
