Neste contexto, considerandose as
do programa comercial Ansys 14.0.
do sistema peçaferramental considerandose o ferramental e a amostra a 300ºC.
reproduzir o comportamento termomecânico macroscópico de metais processados a quente por um único passe de prensagem, em especial a liga Al 7050.Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoThe technique of equalchannel angular pressing, ECAP is characterized by subjecting materials to elevated levels of plastic deformation through simple shear strain to observe the refined ultrafine grain size. Samples, in the shape of a billet, are forced
through the interior of a die composed of two identical transversal channels intercepted at an angle Φ equal to 90°, and at the region of the interception of the channels, the material is permanently deformed through simple shear strain. In this context, considering the thermodynamic properties of an aluminum alloy, Al 7050, obtained through heat compression and adjusted to the strain hardening model of Peirce, twodimensional upper bound analytical models were proposed and combined with a adiabatic heat equation that were capable of supplying consistent predictions of pressing force, effective plastic deformation and final temperature of the sample with a single
pass through the die and for distinct geometric configurations of the die and processing speeds. A numerical model of finite elements approximate to the state of plane deformation using the program Ansys 14.0 was used to validate the analytical solutions. Thus, a die with channels intercepting at 90° without fillet radii was adopted and the thermal evolution of the sample and the die was evaluated to 300°C. The pressing speed
was maintained constant and equal to 10mm/s and ideal lubrification was employed. Also, the von Mises yield criterion was utilized on the analytical and numerical models
for the description of the plastic behavior of the Al 7050 alloy. From the analytical models processed, it was possible to consistently observe the increase of pressing load,
effective plastic deformation and final temperature of the test specimen, sometimes from the increase of the pressing speed or sometimes from the geometry of the die (Φ ≤ 90º and the inclusion of an internal fillet radius). On the other hand, there was a decrease in the prediction to 90º ≤ Φ ≤ 135º and with an external fillet radius. Finally, the numerical model constructed permitted the observation of the distribution of the plastic deformations and temperature along the deformed surface of the billet and made possible the validation of the analytical solutions proposed in terms of maximum predictions of pressing loads, effective plastic deformation and final temperature. Thus,
it was possible to conclude that the analytical and numerical models proposed in the project were able to reproduce the thermalmechanical and macroscopic behavior of hot
worked metals with single pressings, in particular the Al 7050 alloy.137 p
ZF.
e ZF).
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível SuperiorWelding is one of the most important and comprehensive manufacturing and maintenance processes employed by industries in general. Austenitic stainless steels have extensive applicability in the industrial environment due to the high resistance to corrosion and oxidation in various corrosive media, good toughness at low temperatures and high heat resistance. Thus, seeking a continuous improvement in the quality and performance of welds made in metals and their alloys, the objective of this work was to obtain a better understanding of the influence of the application of the external magnetic field on the metallurgical characteristics, mechanical properties and resistance to corrosion of welds made in AISI 304L austenitic stainless steel by the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) autogenous welding process. For this, an external magnetic field of variable intensity was applied simultaneously to the welding procedure and the welding conditions, close to the usual ones, were fixed for this process used for this material. In the microstructural characterization of the welds obtained, metallographic analyzes were performed using optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electronics (SEM) and in the fusion zone (FZ). In the survey of mechanical properties, Vickers hardness and microhardness tests and fracture toughness tests were performed using the Charpy method and the potentiostatic polarization method in the corrosion test. With the increased application of the intensity of the magnetic field, the results pointed to a reduction in the grain size, the dendritic spacing (1 e 2) and the percentage of delta ferrite in the FZ, while there was an increase in the weld bead area and the depth of the melt pool. Regarding the mechanical behavior and the increase in the intensity of the magnetic field, the tenacity remained high and with its values very close in all the conditions evaluated and the variation of the external magnetic field provided the tendency for the value of the Vickers microhardness to drop. In addition, the corrosion test showed less potential for corrosion in the FZ for the welds when increasing values of the intensity of the external magnetic field were used119 p
Effects of an External Magnetic Field on the Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of the Fusion Zone in TIG Welding
Welding is a widely used process that requires continuous developments to meet new application demands of mechanical projects under severe conditions. The homogeneity of metallurgical and mechanical properties in welded joints is the key factor for any welding process. The applications of external magnetic fields, mechanical vibration, and ultrasound are the fundamental steps to achieve success in improving these properties. The present work aimed at determining suitable processing conditions to achieve the desired balance between metallurgical and mechanical properties of 304L steel in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding under the application of an external magnetic field. The microstructural characteristics of the weld bead were analyzed by optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In order to evaluate the mechanical properties of the welded specimen, its Vickers microhardness map and Charpy impact energy at −20 °C were obtained. In addition, corrosion tests were carried out in the saline medium to compare the corrosion resistance of the joint with that of the base metal and that without the magnetic field. It was found that the external magnetic field decreased the percentage of delta ferrite, improved the filling of the weld pool with the weld metal, and decreased the primary and secondary dendritic spacings. The Vickers microhardness value under the magnetic field was found to be lower than that without the magnetic field, and the Charpy test showed no significant variation in energy absorption. Moreover, the welded joint produced under the external magnetic field manifested less resistance to corrosion
