Suppression of Spin-Orbit Scattering in Strong-Disordered Gold Nanojunctions
We discovered that spin-orbit scattering in strong-disordered gold
nanojunctions is strongly suppressed relative to that in weak-disordered gold
thin films. This property is unusual because in weak-disordered films,
spin-orbit scattering increases with disorder. Granularity and freezing of
spin-orbit scattering inside the grains explains the suppression of spin-orbit
scattering. We propose a generalized Elliot-Yafet relation that applies to
strong-disordered granular regime.Comment: 4 pages 4 figure
Investigation of Consumer Intention toward Online Shopping During Covid-19 Pandemic
This study aims to explore the factors affecting the consumer intention toward online shopping during the Covid-19 pandemic, by examining 8 factors, the Perceived Lack of Alternatives, Perceived External Pressure, and Perceived Controlled Behavior on consumer Intention, and Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Risk and Subjective Norm on consumer intention with a mediating effect of consumer Attitude. Online questionnaire had been built to evaluate all variables in the conceptual model, and snowball sampling technique had been applied. A total of 817 participants has responded to the questionnaire, all from Jordan with a mix of different educational backgrounds, ages, gender, marital status and financial income. Confirmatory factor analysis, multi-regression and path analysis was run using AMOS 26.0, and frequencies statistics has been done using SPSS 26.0. This study data analysis revealed that Perceived Lack of Alternatives and Perceived External Pressure has no significant impact on consumer intention, whereas Perceived controlled behavior found to have a significant influence on consumer intention. The results also revealed that Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Risk and Subjective Norm has significant influence on consumer intention with a mediating effect of consumer Attitude. Understanding consumer behavior during Covid-19 could reveal insights for customers’ intention toward online shopping after the pandemic. This research has developed an integrated model to show the factors that determine the customers’ intention for online shopping. These factors can help the retailers to adopt the new norm of life after the Covid-19 pandemic and allocate investments to transform their traditional business models and switch to online shopping platforms
Grey, brown and blue coloring sol-gel electrochromic devices
Pure and doped niobium oxide (Nb2O5) layers are electrochromic (EC) materials which change their colour by insertion of Li+ ions from transparent to brown, grey or blue depending on the crystallinity of the layer. EC-devices with the configuration K-glass / EC-layer / composite electrolyte / Ion-storage (IS) layer / K-glass, were produced using different Nb2O5 EC-layers, a (CeO2)x(TiO2)1-x (x=0.45) IS-layer and an inorganic-organic composite electrolyte to which a small amount of water (up to 3 wt%) was added. The grey coloring all-solid-state sol-gel devices fabricated with Nb2O5:Mo coatings show a high reversible colouration (DeltaOD = 0.3) and a longterm stability of more than 55000 switching cycles. Large area EC-devices (30 cm x 40 cm) show a transmittance change between 60% and 25% at 550 nm after galvanostatic colouration and bleaching for 3 min and a colouration efficiency of 27 cm²/C. The results obtained with blue and brown colouring Nb2O5 EC-layers and a comparison with blue coloring WO3 layers are also presented
Localization and Capacitance Fluctuations in Disordered Au Nano-junctions
Nano-junctions, containing atomic-scale gold contacts between strongly
disordered leads, exhibit different transport properties at room temperature
and at low temperature. At room temperature, the nano-junctions exhibit
conductance quantization effects. At low temperatures, the contacts exhibit
Coulomb-Blockade. We show that the differences between the room-temperature and
low temperature properties arise from the localization of electronic states in
the leads. The charging energy and capacitance of the nano-junctions exhibit
strong fluctuations with applied magnetic field at low temperature, as
predicted theoretically.Comment: 20 pages 8 figure
Kondo Effect in Electromigrated Gold Break Junctions
We present gate-dependent transport measurements of Kondo impurities in bare
gold break junctions, generated with high yield using an electromigration
process that is actively controlled. Thirty percent of measured devices show
zero-bias conductance peaks. Temperature dependence suggests Kondo temperatures
\~7K. The peak splitting in magnetic field is consistent with theoretical
predictions for g=2, though in many devices the splitting is offset from 2guB
by a fixed energy. The Kondo resonances observed here may be due to
atomic-scale metallic grains formed during electromigration.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
