Energy Conversion Alternatives Study (ECAS), Westinghouse phase 1. Volume 4: Open recuperated and bottomed gas turbine cycles

Open-cycle recuperated gas turbine plant with inlet temperatures of 1255 to 1644 K (1800 to 2500 F) and recuperators with effectiveness values of 0, 70, 80 and 90% are considered. A 1644 K (2500 F) gas turbine would have a 33.5% plant efficiency in a simple cycle, 37.6% in a recuperated cycle and 47.6% when combined with a sulfur dioxide bottomer. The distillate burning recuperated plant was calculated to produce electricity at a cost of 8.19 mills/MJ (29.5 mills/kWh). Due to their low capital cost 170to200170 to 200 /kW, the open cycle gas turbine plant should see duty for peaking and intermediate load duty

Eikonal profile functions and amplitudes for pp\rm pp and pˉp\bar{\rm p}{\rm p} scattering

The eikonal profile function J(b)J(b) obtained from the Model of the Stochastic Vacuum is parametrized in a form suitable for comparison with experiment. The amplitude and the extended profile function (including imaginary and real parts) are determined directly from the complete pp and pˉ\bar{\rm p}p elastic scattering data at high energies. Full and accurate representation of the data is presented, with smooth energy dependence of all parameters. The changes needed in the original profile function required for description of scattering beyond the forward direction are described.Comment: Latex, 28 pages and 16 figure

The future of Chief Learning Officers in the corporate organization

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to explore perceptions about the future of the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) role in the corporate organization from the perspective of current and former CLOs. For this study, Chief Learning Officer is defined as the top leadership role held in a corporate organization that oversees the functions of learning and development, talent development, and/or training. This study summarizes data collected through semi-structured interviews with ten CLOs from a variety of countries, industries, and company sizes. Overall, four key themes emerged from the study: 1) a perceived trajectory of the CLO role, 2) opinions about the CLO title, 3) specific approaches to driving learning strategy, and 4) characterizations of the alignment with human resources. Suggestions for practical and scholarly implications are provided
