Indian Sign Language Recognition System for Differently-able People

    Get PDF
Sign languages commonly develop in deaf communities, that can include interpreters and friends and families of deaf people as well as people who are deaf or hard of hearing themselves. Sign Language Recognition is one of the most growing fields of research today. There are Many new techniques that have been developed recently in these fields. Here in this paper, we will propose a system for conversion of Indian sign language to text using Open CV. OpenCV designed to generate motion template images that can be used to rapidly determine where that motion occurred, how that motion occurred, and in which direction it occurred. There is also support for static gesture recognition in OpenCV which can locate hand position and define orientation (right or left) in image and create hand mask image. In this we will use image processing in which captured image will be processed which are digital in nature by the digital computer. By this we will enhance the quality of a picture so that it looks better. Our aim is to design a human computer interface system that can recognize language of the deaf and dumb accurately

    Knowledge Management: the agile way

    Get PDF
The logic behind the acceptance of agile practice is that along with software development, project and knowledge management (KM) practices are woven into the practices of agile methodologies, which have made these methodologies very popular among software development communities. There are many practices in agile (e.g. Pair programming, scrum meetings, onsite customer etc.) which encourage creation, retention and dissemination of knowledge. Therefore, there is an urgent need to analyze agile software development practices from KM perspective. Many covert and overt factors are identified in applying agile practices in software development organisations. Different knowledge creation and management theories are analyzed from agile perspectives and relationship is established among knowledge management and agile practices with a special focus on Indian software engineering organisations. Keywords: Agile software development, Knowledge management, Scrum, Extreme programmin

A Framework for Delineating the Emotive Character of Motorbikes in India

    Get PDF
This paper proposes an approach to investigate the styling concept of motorbikes by establishing a relationship between its evaluative aesthetic properties and associated emotions. A framework is delineated in form of emotive words and representational image boards to map the emotive character of motorbikes. The framework forms the basis for investigating the emotional differentiation in the social structure of biking in India. The findings give insights on the emotive character of various motorbikes representing different emotional needs. The usability and efficacy of the framework was tested among styling designers and design students

    G-NetMon: A GPU-accelerated Network Performance Monitoring System

    Get PDF
At Fermilab, we have prototyped a GPU-accelerated network performance monitoring system, called G-NetMon, to support large-scale scientific collaborations. In this work, we explore new opportunities in network traffic monitoring and analysis with GPUs. Our system exploits the data parallelism that exists within network flow data to provide fast analysis of bulk data movement between Fermilab and collaboration sites. Experiments demonstrate that our G-NetMon can rapidly detect sub-optimal bulk data movements

A Review of Central Bank Digital Currencies

    Get PDF
This is a review paper on the exploratory research done by various central banks and international organisations on CBDCs and the framework to be followed for implementing these CBDCs so that the monetary system of a specific country remains unaffected. CBDCs and cryptocurrency in general as we know have become quite popular and are the talking point for many research scholars, economists and investment analysts. While many believe cryptocurrencies to have no intrinsic value, the value of the underlying technology i.e blockchain is something that can be argued upon. CBDCs remove the major cons of cryptocurrency by providing stability to the volatile cryptocurrency market and by acting as a legal tender thereby gaining the trust of retail public. Many governments believe that the introduction of CBDCs into the economy could simplify the payment’s structure thereby increasing the velocity of money leading to higher GDP growth. But one possibility that shatters this glass of optimistic views is the possibility of disintermediation of banks which could adversely affect the credit creation capacity of the country and disintegrate the entire monetary policy formation mechanism. Therefore, though the concept of digital currencies may excite many people, its adoption in an economy should be considered only after thorough research and pilot programs conducted by the central banks

Treatment Considerations for Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Pediatric Down Syndrome

    Get PDF
Children with Down syndrome (DS) are at high risk for developing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) compared to children without DS. The negative impact of OSA on health, behavior, and cognitive development in children with DS highlights the importance of timely and effective treatment. Due to the higher prevalence of craniofacial and airway abnormalities, obesity, and hypotonia in patients with DS, residual OSA can still occur after exhausting first-line options. While treatment commonly includes adenotonsillectomy (AT) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, additional therapy such as medical management and/or adjuvant surgical procedures need to be considered in refractory OSA. Given the significant comorbidities secondary to untreated OSA in children with DS, such as cardiovascular and neurobehavioral consequences, more robust randomized trials in this patient population are needed to produce treatment guidelines separate from those for the general pediatric population of otherwise healthy children with OSA. Further studies are also needed to look at desensitization and optimization of CPAP use in patients with DS and OSA

    Managing Emotion in Design Innovation

This book presents an emotion centered research framework titled "emoha" for design innovation. It defines emoha and underlines the importance of the developed framework in culturalization of technology and thereby design innovation. The book explains the detailed research on product styling which leads to the creation of "Emoha" and how to use it in product design
