    Breast Cancer Detection in Mammogram Images Exploiting GLCM, GA Features and SVM Algorithms

    This paper presents the novel computing algorithms to maintain the quality of mammogram images for better quality of cancer detection. The advanced algorithms were incorporated with a cancer detection unit to allow an automatic and better accuracy of tumor determination and to better classify the existing normal and abnormal breast tissues. The proposed cancer detection method consists of several steps: The first stage of the Computer Aided Detection is to maintain the images and to show the location of the abnormal tissues. The pre-processing performed on the sampled image utilized the morphology algorithm and the multi threshold segmentation to provide the appropriate tissue classification. The use of the morphology algorithm was optimized to eliminate the presence of the mammogram image label. The textural features analysis was obtained by using Gray Level Coocurance Matrix (GLCM) of four different angles, i.e. 00, 450, 900, and1350, respectively. Genetic Algorithm (GA) was optimized to find the best GLCM features, and then the results were inserted in the Support Vector Machine (SVM) training. SVM with kernel radial basis function was used to classify the patient’s images as normal or abnormal breast. SVM algorithm was very important during the data training and the data testing steps. Interesting results were generated during SVM classification, which include the sensitivity rate of 69%, the precision rate of 100% and the system classification accuracy of 88.2% were taken outside from the training data and 100 % were taken inside the training data

    Meningkatkan Kinerja Java Virtual Machine dengan Mengoptimalkan Peran Garbage Collector

    Pada penelitian ini, kinerja Java Virtual Machine (JVM) dalam mengeksekusi aplikasi Java berusaha ditingkatkan dengan cara mengoptimalkan peran Garbage Collector (GC). GC adalah salah satu komponen di dalam JVM yang bertugas untuk mencari obyek-obyek Java yang sudah tidak digunakan lagi oleh program (garbage) tapi masih menempati ruang pada memori. Selanjutnya GC akan membersihkan ruang memori tersebut untuk digunakan oleh obyek Java yang baru. JVM secara otomatis menjalankan GC jika ruang memori yang tersedia tidak cukup lagi untuk menampung obyek baru yang dibuat oleh Java aplikasi. Untuk mengoptimalkan peran GC dalam meningkatkan kinerja JVM, GC tidak hanya difungsikan untuk membersihkan ruang memori dari garbage, tapi juga difungsikan untuk mengubah urutan-urutan obyek yang masih digunakan oleh program di memori, sedapat mungin menyesuaikan dengan cara program mengakses obyek-obyek tersebut. Hal ini dimaksudkan agar prosessor komputer lebih cepat mendapatkan data dari memori sehingga eksekusi program menjadi lebih cepat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan urutan-urutan obyek yang tepat, kinerja JVM meningkat, ditandai dengan waktu eksekusi aplikasi Java yang menjadi lebih singkat

    An Introduction of Game-Based Interactive Learning at SDN 14 Bonto-Bonto, Kabupaten PangkepAbstract. Community service was be carried out at SDN 14 Bonto-Bonto, Kab. Pangkep to provide new insights for students regarding learning methods and materials using interactive game as an educational medium for Natural Sciences subjects. This educational game is a type of Role Playing Game (RPG) that will encourage players actively digging up information to enrich knowledge while playing a game that has has complex storytelling elements and role-playing arts that making the player feels like being the character they play in the game. As a part of development in learning medium, this game is expected to add insights to teachers and students at SDN 14 Bonto-Bonto, Pangkep. In the learning process in schools, the material delivered by the teacher is limited, because students only memorize the names of elements in an inefficient manner or just memorize the sequence of elements from the periodic table. The purpose of this service is to socialize game-based interactive learning methods and conduct training related educational games about the Periodic System of Chemical Elements. In addition, this community service is also a venue for disseminating the results of research conducted by lecturers and students at the Hasanuddin University, Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Informatics, Engineering Faculty UNHAS regarding the application of interactive learning media.Keywords: Interactive game, chemistry elements, role playing game, socialization, public serviceAbstrak. Pengabdian masyarakat yang akan dilakukan di SDN 14 Bonto-Bonto, Kab. Pangkep ini bertujuan untuk  memberikan wawasan baru bagi siswa terkait metode dan materi pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran game interaktif sebagai media edukasi untuk mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Game edukasi ini merupakan jenis game RPG (Role Playing Game) yang akan yang akan membimbing pemain secara aktif menggali informasi untuk memperkaya pengetahuan saat bermain yang memiliki unsur-unsur penceritaan yang kompleks serta seni peran yang membuat seseorang merasa seperti menjadi tokoh yang diperankannya dalam game tersebut. Pada proses pembelajaran di sekolah-sekolah, materi yang disampaikan oleh pengajar menjadi terbatas, karena pelajar hanya menghafal nama-nama unsur dengan cara yang tidak efisien atau hanya sekedar menghafal urutan unsur dari tabel periodik. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk mensosialisasikan metode pembelajaran interaktif berbasis game dan melakukan pelatihan terkait Game edukasi Sistem Periodik Unsur. Game edukatif ini membantu menyampaikan informasi tentang unsur-unsur kimia dengan menggabungkan Objek 2D dan Game edukasi berbasis windows. Sebagai bagian dari pengembangan media pembelajaran, maka diharapkan dapat menambah wawasan bagi para guru dan murid di SDN 14 Bonto-Bonto, Kabupaten Pangkep.     The Simulation of Vehicle Counting System for Traffic Surveillance Using Viola Jones Method

    Traffic congestion in Makassar has occurred over the last 3 years due to the increase of\ud vehicle amount with the lack of adequate road space. To solve the problem, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is needed. One of the research topics in ITS is determining the turnover time of traffic lights based on the number of vehicles in the road. Viola-Jones method can be used to count the number of vehicles by detecting\ud objects. Therefore, this study shows a simulation of the number of vehicles using the Viola-Jones\ud method as an initial step to implement the ITS in\ud Makassar. The data used is a front view car\ud pictures. Simulation results show that the average\ud accuracy rate of the detection is determined by the\ud number of samples. For example, the average of the\ud highest detection accuracy is 92% by using 150\ud positive samples and 300 negative samples were\ud applied to 30 test samples

    The remote control system on electrical equipment in the room can be fulfilled through the internet as an IoT (Internet of Things) implementation. All devices managed from one interface, so home appliances management delivered quickly and conveniently. The main contribution in this research is IP based controlling for rooms with control lights and vertical curtains, and also the temperature of the air conditioner (AC) with IoT Technology. The used hardware is Raspberry Pi 3 as a server, Relay, motor stepper, IR led Transmitter, and temperature sensor DS18B20. For implementation, an android application is built by MIT App Inventor 2. The results show that all features function correctly, but each device responds with a different delay value.  Delay time response of a lamp, vertical blind, and AC is up to 1.5 sec, 2.1 sec, and 1.6 sec, respectively.electrical appliances, IoT, controlling system, smart roo
