Objective: To develop and validate stability indicating HPTLC method for simultaneous quantitative determination of candesartan cilexetil (CDT) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) in pharmaceutical dosage form. Methods: The present study deals with development and validation of stability indicating HPTLC method for simultaneous estimation of CDT and HCT. Chromatographic separation was performed on aluminum plate precoated with Silica Gel 60 F254 using toluene: chloroform: ethanol: glacial acetic acid (2:7:1:0.1 v/v) as mobile phase. The wavelength selected for densitometry scanning was 270 nm. Regression plots revealed linear relationships in the concentration range of 500-5000 and 400-2000 ng/band for CDT and HCT respectively. The correlation coefficient of calibration curves was found to be more than 0.99 for both analytes. Results: The chromatographic conditions gave compact spots at Rf value (±SD) 0.12 (±0.01) and 0.70 (±0.02) for HCT and CDT respectively. The method was validated as per International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines, demonstrating to be accurate and precise within the corresponding linearity range of titled analytes. Inherent stability of these drugs was studied by exposing drug substances to various stress conditions as per ICH guidelines namely oxidative, photolysis and hydrolytic conditions under different pH. Relevant degradation was found to take place under these conditions. Conclusion: A new simple, accurate, precise, sensitive and economic stability-indicating HPTLC method has been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of CDT and HCT in pharmaceutical dosage form. The proposed method can be used for the routine estimation of CDT and HCT in bulk and formulation and can be employed for stability-indicating analysis. Keywords: Candesartan cilexetil, Hydrochlorothiazide, HPTLC, Stability indicating method, Forced degradation, Stress studies, Validatio

Study of Pruning Techniques to Predict Efficient Business Decisions for a Shopping Mall

The shopping mall domain is a dynamic and unpredictable environment. Traditional techniques such as fundamental and technical analysis can provide investors with some tools for managing their shops and predicting their business growth. However, these techniques cannot discover all the possible relations between business growth and thus, there is a need for a different approach that will provide a deeper kind of analysis. Data mining can be used extensively in the shopping malls and help to increase business growth. Therefore, there is a need to find a perfect solution or an algorithm to work with this kind of environment. So we are going to study few methods of pruning with decision tree. Finally, we prove and make use of the Cost based pruning method to obtain an objective evaluation of the tendency to over prune or under prune observed in each method

Curated Datasets for Use in Automated Media Monitoring and Feedback System: “News Classification System” Dataset, “Government News Classification” Dataset

    Get PDF
Online journalism in India, a growing field that involves news websites and Digital media, connects with the Press Information Bureau (PIB), a government agency dedicated to sharing accurate information about government policies and initiatives with journalists. While various news outlets publish diverse articles and opinions on these topics, the government seeks to leverage Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for gathering feedback in multiple languages. To develop such a system, a notable obstacle is the lack of a readily accessible standard dataset is required. To address this, two datasets are developed named, 'NCS' and 'GNC,' consisting of information from 2020 to 2023 and collected through web scraping tools like Parsehub and manually scrapping. NCS represents News Classification system dataset and GNC represents Government News Classification. The 'NCS' dataset includes Indian news in Hindi, Marathi, and English with categorization of Indian news as government-related or not. Then, a Machine Learning model called "Government News Classifier" to sort news articles using the 'NCS' dataset into either government-related or non-government-related categories. The objective is to use this model to figure out if a news source is discussing topics related to the government or not. Using this model, we created the 'GNC' dataset, which contains only news articles related to government schemes and policies in Hindi, Marathi, and English. In GNC dataset, Human experts manually classify each news source into three categories: "government favourable," "government non-favourable," or "neutral." In essence, this research emphasizes the importance of having access to a large dataset, which can stimulate more advanced prediction models in this complex field

Cardiac amyloidosis in non-transplant cardiac surgery

    Get PDF
Cardiac amyloidosis is a rare infiltrative cardiomyopathy that portends a poor prognosis. There is a growing recognition of co-existent aortic valve stenosis and transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis, with some studies suggesting that dual pathology may be associated increased risk of complication and mortality during surgical intervention. This review aims to evaluate the available literature on non-transplant cardiac surgical interventions in patients with cardiac amyloidosis, with particular focus on diagnosis, high surgical risk and areas of uncertainty that require further research

Genetic studies for improvement of quality characters in rabi sorghum using landraces

    Get PDF
Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) is one of the important cereal crops cultivated in India during kharif(rainy) and rabi (postrainy) seasons. Rabi sorghum is highly valued for its excellent grain quality and also for its food use. The bettergrain quality fetches high market price often at par or higher than wheat (Triftcum aestivum) (Nerkar 1998). However, there are certain major constraints in rabi sorghum improvement such as narrow genetic base, low variability for yield and grain quality parameters with rabi season adaptation. Indian rabi sorghum landraces are rich repository of genetic variability and are preserved by the farmers due to local adaptability, good grain quality and for specific food products. Thus, it becomes more relevant to utilize such typical landraces in breeding programs

HAND HYGIENE AND HEALTH: AN EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY OF STUDENTS IN AMRAVATI

    Get PDF
Hands may be the most important means by which enteric pathogens are transmitted. Skin hygiene particularly of the hands, has been accepted as a primary mechanism to control the spread of infectious agents. Therefore the present study was undertaken to evaluate the number and type of enteric bacterial pathogens associated with hands. A total of 160 hands swab samples of 80 students of KG, PS, SS, UG, and PG were analyzed. Pathogens were isolated from hands includes Escherichia coli (22%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (12%), Staphylococcus aureus (15%), Proteus mirabilis (11%), Citrobacter freundii (10%), Enterobacter aerogenes (8%), Streptococcus sp. (7%), Klebsiella sp. (6%), Micrococcus sp. (5%) and Salmonella typhi (4%). The prevalence of the bacterial pathogens was high in students of K.G. and primary than those in secondary schools and colleges. The data indicated that the hands of the female were more contaminated than male and the left hand was more contaminated than the right hand. Thus, the potential risk factors for transmission of enteric pathogens through hands should be investigated in order to improve the general health of the students

    Get PDF
Background: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) top the list among noncommunicable diseases. Nitric Oxide (NO) preserves normal vascular physiology. Uncoupling of endothelial nitric oxide synthase enzyme occurs in the blood vessels of diabetics leading to endothelial dysfunction and excessive production of superoxide anion causing decreased bioavailability of NO. Aim and Objectives: To assess the serum NO levels, highsensitive C-reactive Protein (hsCRP), lipid parameters and their association with CAD in diabetics. Material and Methods: The study comprises total 195 participants. There are three groups, each group consist of 65 participants. Three groups were diabetes with CAD, diabetes without CAD and control. NO assessed by modified Griess method. hsCRP by immunoturburdimetric method FBS and lipid parameters were analysed in fully automated analyzer. Results: There was a significant decrease in NO levels and significant increase in hsCRP levels in diabetes without CAD and diabetes with CAD patients compared to controls. NO showed negative correlation with Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) and hsCRP in DM without CAD patients. NO showed negative correlation with DBP in DM with CAD patients. NO showed negative correlation with HbA1c in both the groups. Conclusion: The study concludes that estimation of NO and hsCRP along with lipid profile, help in early detection of endothelial dysfunction in diabetese patients. Reduced NO and increased hsCRP levels in diabetese patients may be strong indicator of coronary artery disease
