Troubled Pilgrimage to the Grotto: Exploring the Deconversion Narrative in Fantasy

Since the inception of literature, religion has been a dominating thematic force in the field and with it- conversion; however, a survey into the related literature reveals such popularity stands counter to a lack of variety as the reverse narrative, deconversion remains under examined. Deconversion is not a new spiritual path but only recently has it been considered seriously as a valid endpoint rather than a hurdle to overcome. This is especially true in fantasy literature which, for reasons central to the genre’s elements and development, is particularly sympathetic to texts favorable to spirituality. However, as similar methods which defend belief can be employed to incite unbelief, true parallel texts can be produced, with care to the aspects of the genre which implicitly support belief over unbelief. In recognition of and response to the disparity between positive and negative depictions of unbelief this creative thesis Troubled Pilgrimage to the Grotto presents a deconversion story in which loss of religious adherence is recognized as a valid spiritual path. It addresses in narrative form theological problems such as religious pluralism, historical inaccuracy of religious mythology, as well as further developing issues such as the problem of evil, etc. in narrative back and forth. By presenting extended arguments that ultimately culminate in unbelief, a balanced presentation of ideas can be achieved while still furthering the broader agenda of filling the niche of unbelief in theological fiction. This important step may help further interest and study in an underdeveloped sub-field

En el presente trabajo se realiza un estudio de las ecuaciones de Einstein que describen la interacción gravitacional como una manifestación de la curvatura del espacio−tiempo. Se deducen los Diagramas de Penrose para la métrica de Minkowski y de Schwarzschild, además se analiza la formulación matemática de las ondas gravitacionales y la descripción del experimento que logró detectar dichas ondas. Implementación de un sistema de control interno en los inventarios de producto en lata de la empresa Gandules INC S.A.C de la Ciudad de Chiclayo para la reducción del riesgo operativo en los periodos Enero a Marzo del 2017

El presente informe de invest igación se titula “IMPLEMENTACIÓN DE UN SISTEMA DE CONTROL INTERNO EN LOS INVENTARIOS DE PRODUCTO EN LATA DE LA EMPRESA GANDULES INC S.A.C. DE LA CIUDAD DE CHICLAYO PARA LA REDUCCIÓN DEL RIESGO OPERATIVO EN LOS PERIODOS ENERO A MARZO DEL 2017”, cuyo objet ivo general es demostrar que la implementación de un sistema de control interno en los inventarios de producto en lata permitirá reducir los riesgos operativos presentados en el área de almacén de la empresa. La investigación se inició con la recopilación de fichas bibliográficas y teorías que sustenten los conocimientos necesarios para el diseño e implementación del sistema de control interno, haciendo de esta una investigación aplicada. Con la finalidad de diagnosticar el grado de necesidad de implementar el sistema, se realizó una evaluación inicial aplicando check list, cuestionarios y guías de observación documental para obtener una visión clara del estado de implementación de los cinco componentes del control interno (Ambiente de control, Administración del riesgo, Actividades de control, Información y Comunicación y Monitoreo). Posteriormente se observó las actividades del proceso de recepción y almacenaje y se desarrolló una matriz de riesgo, señalando los riesgos por actividad, el impacto que genera su probabilidad y el efecto que ocasiona a los costos del área. De la identificación de los riesgos y los resultados obtenidos de la evaluación, se diseñó un sistema de control interno adecuado a las necesidades del área de almacén, el sistema propuesto incluye medidas preventivas para los riesgos identificados y propuestas de mejora a las carencias encontradas, como la implementación de política de gestión de riesgos y una matriz de riesgos que identifique, valore y alerte los riesgos que requieren de inmediata acción correctiva. Con la finalidad de contrastar nuestra hipótesis, utilizamos el método de diseño lineal Cuasi- Experimental, para lo cual desarrollamos una matriz comparativa de los riesgos antes y después de la implementación del sistema de control interno, del análisis se concluyó que el sistema de control interno propuesto permite la reducción de los riesgos operativos de la empresa Gandules Inc. S.A.C.The present research report is entitled ""IMPLEMENTATION OF AN INTERNAL CONTROL SYSTEM IN THE PRODUCT INVENTORIES IN CAN OF THE COMPANY GANDULES INC S.A.C. OF THE CITY OF CHICLAYO FOR THE REDUCTION OF OPERATIONAL RISK IN THE PERIODS JANUARY TO MARCH OF 2017 "", whose general objective is to demonstrate that the implementation of an internal control system in canned product inventories will reduce the operational risks presented in the warehouse area of the company. The investigation began with the compilation of bibliographic records and theories that support the knowledge necessary for the design and implementation of the internal control system, making this an applied research. In order to diagnose the degree of need to implement the system, an initial evaluation was performed applying check list, questionnaires and document observation guides to obtain a clear vision of the implementation status of the five internal control components (Control environment, Risk management, Control activities, Information and Communication and Monitoring). Subsequently, the activities of the reception and storage process were observed and a risk matrix was developed, indicating the risks by activity, the impact generated by its probability and the effect it causes on the costs of the area. From the identification of the risks and the results obtained from the evaluation, a system of internal control was designed that is adequate to the needs of the area. The proposed system includes preventive measures for the identified risks and proposals for improvement to the found deficiencies, such as the implementation of risk management policy and a risk matrix that identifies, values and alerts risks classified as serious that require immediate corrective action. In order to test our hypothesis, we used the Quasi- Experimental linear design method, for which we developed a comparative matrix of the risks before and after the implementation of the internal control system, from the analysis it was concluded that the internal control system Proposed allows the reduction of operational risks of the company Gandules Inc. El presente trabajo será en base a Executive Solutions S.A., unidad de negocio del Corporativo Overall dedicado a la tercerización de servicios industriales con facturación mayor a los S/ 30 millones anuales. Asimismo, tomará enfoque en tres de sus principales clientes: Softys (Protisa S.A.), Trupal S.A. y Quimpac S.A. La tercerización en el Perú ha ayudado a que se formalice mayor cantidad de trabajadores, otorgándoles todos los beneficios de ley. Extracto de algas marinas en el rendimiento y calidad de Coliflor ( Brassica oleracea L. var. Botrytis) cv. Nevada

Departamento Académico de HorticulturaEn el presente trabajo de investigación se evaluaron cuatro fuentes de extractos de algas marinas, cuyos nombres comerciales son AlgaFert, Vigor Stim, Phycoterra y Phylgreen, aplicados en el cultivo de coliflor (Brassica oleracea L. var. botrytis) cv. ‘Nevada’. El experimento se desarrolló en el distrito de La Molina, provincia de Lima, en el periodo de agosto-noviembre del año 2019. Se establecieron cinco tratamientos, incluyendo el testigo (control), en este último solo se realizó la aplicación de compost sin aplicación de extracto de algas marinas y en los otros cuatro tratamientos se realizó la aplicación foliar de extractos de algas marinas en dosis y momentos de aplicación recomendados en su correspondiente ficha técnica. Se empleó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar con cuatro repeticiones. Las variables evaluadas fueron: rendimiento, diámetro y peso de inflorescencia, materia seca de hojas, tallo e inflorescencia y análisis foliar NPK. El testigo (sin aplicación de extracto de algas marinas) obtuvo mayores rendimientos de coliflor (44.69 Mg/ha); sin embargo, este resultado no fue estadísticamente diferente a los otros tratamientos. Con respecto al contenido de materia seca de inflorescencia, el mayor valor se obtuvo con la aplicación del producto AlgaFert (6.02%), no obstante, este resultado no fue estadísticamente diferente al testigo. Finalmente, el mayor contenido de potasio en la masa foliar obtenido fue en el tratamiento con aplicación de Vigor Stim (2.38%), pero este resultado no fue estadísticamente diferente al testigo. Las variables evaluadas restantes no presentaron diferencias estadísticas significativas entre los tratamientos evaluados.Four sources of seaweed extracts, AlgaFert, Vigor Stim, Phycoterra and Phylgreen, were evaluated in cauliflower crop (Brassica oleracea L. var. botrytis) cv. 'Nevada'. The experiment was developed at La Molina, Lima, between August-November of 2019. There were four treatments and one control in which only compost application was applied without application of seaweed extracts. Seaweed extracts were applied foliarly at recommended rates and moments according to the developer recomendation. A completely randomized block design was used. The variables evaluated were: yield, diameter and weight of the curd, dry matter percentage in leaves, stem and curd and NPK leaf concentration. Control treatment (without application of seaweed extracts), had the higher cauliflower yields (44.69 Mg/ha), however this result was not statistically different from the other treatments. The highest curd dry matter content, was obtained with AlgaFert (6.02%). Nevertheless, this result was not statistically different from the control. Finally, the highest value of potassium content in leaves was obtained Vigor Stim (2.38%), but this result was not statistically different from the control. The remaining evaluated variables did not show significant statistical differences among all the evaluated treatments

Entropia de emaranhamento de buracos negros na dualidade AdS/CFT

En esta tesis se estudia un campo escalar sobre un espacio tiempo de Schwarzschild usando los estados de vacío de Boulware y Hartle-Hawking-Israel teniendo en cuenta la interpretación Mukohyama-Israel para tratar de explicar la entropía de Bekenstein-Hawking y en donde se puede localizar. A novel highly efficient Lagrangian model for massively multidomain simulations: parallel context

A new method for the simulation of evolving multi-domains problems has been introduced in a previous work (RealIMotion), Florez et al. (2020). In this article further developments of the model will be presented. The main focus here is a robust parallel implementation using a distributed-memory approach with the Message Passing Interface (MPI) library OpenMPI. The original 2D sequential methodology consists in a modified front-tracking approach where the main originality is that not only interfaces between domains are discretized but their interiors are also meshed. The interfaces are tracked based on the topological degree of each node on the mesh and the remeshing and topological changes of the domains are driven by selective local operations performed over an element patch. The accuracy and the performance of the sequential method has proven very promising in Florez et al. (2020). In this article a parallel implementation will be discussed and tested in context of motion by curvature flow for polycrystals, i.e. by considering Grain Growth (GG) mechanism. Results of the performance of the model are given and comparisons with other approaches in the literature are discussed

Lectura anacrónica del cuerpo mártir: entre Afecto 45 de Sor Josefa del Castillo y On Force de María José Arjona

La presente tesis explora la noción de cuerpo mártir entre dos estudios de caso: el poema místico Afecto 45 de Sor Josefa del Castillo (Tunja, Ca. 1700) y el performance contemporáneo On Force de María José Arjona (Bogotá, 2011). El propósito de esta investigación es desplegar el tránsito anacrónico del martirio para reflexionarlo más allá del flagelo explícito, como un concepto metamórfico entre tiempos y contextos: el cuerpo deviene unidad psicosomática compleja y paradojal, víctima de sí mismo en la medida en que sufre la insatisfacción de los deseos del sujeto. Para acercarme a los cuerpos de Del Castillo y de Arjona, emplearé el concepto de goce trabajado desde Seminario XX de Jaques Lacan, siendo entendido como la inevitable reincidencia del inconsciente en una causa originaria siempre insatisfecha, displacentera y singular. Esta investigación muestra cómo entre Afecto 45 y On Force despuntan cuerpos mártires que contrastan entre sí, que se descubren mediante la producción escritural o performativa mientras son atravesados por distintos grados de sufrimiento. A partir de lo anterior, planteo que mientras Del Castillo manifiesta la excitabilidad del soma en medio del represor contexto neogranadino, Arjona construye una mirada íntima en tiempos de la sobreexposición mediática del cuerpo. La inquietud de sí pensada desde Historia de la sexualidad de Michel Foucault, permite proponer que Del Castillo y Arjona ejercitan y construyen un conocimiento propio mientras sobrellevan el goce. Hay un saber de cuerpo que opera como adaptación positiva al goce, que es aniquilante e ingobernable para el sujeto. Sin embargo, esto supone una falla sistémica grave: el conocimiento de sí y el goce son inagotables y a mayor conocimiento, mayor goce. A pesar de lo anterior no hay una liberación real del sujeto ante el goce pero persiste un poder en ejercicio: el conocimiento de sí.Abstract: This thesis explores the broad concept of the martyr body between two case studies: the poem Afecto 45 by Sor Josefa del Castillo (Tunja, Ca. 1700) and the contemporary performance On Force, by María José Arjona (Bogotá, 2011). The purpose of this research is to deploy the anachronistic changeover of the martyrdom to be thought beyond the explicit scourge, as a metamorphic concept between different times and different contexts: the body became a complex, paradoxical and psychosomatic unity, which suffer the dissatisfaction of the subject desires, as a victim of itself. In order to approach to the bodies of Del Castillo and Arjona I will use the concept of «jouissance», worked from Seminar XX by Jaques Lacan, being understood as inevitable recidivism of the unconscious, in a root cause that is always dissatisfied, unpleasant and singular. This research shows how between Afecto 45 and On Force jut out martyr bodies that contrast between each other, bodies that are discovered through the scriptural or performative production while they are traversed by different degrees of suffering. On the basis of the foregoing, I expose that while Del Castillo manifest the carnality restlessness among the Nueva Granada repressive context, Arjona build an intimate gaze in the times of body overexposure. The Care of the Self it is thought from The History of Sexuality by Michel Foucault, allows to propose that Del Castillo and Arjona exercise and build by themselves an own learning while they endure the jouissance. There is body knowledge that operates as a positive adaptation over the jouissance which is by itself annihilating and ungovernable for the subject. Notwithstanding it suppose a serious system flaw: the self-knowledge and the jouissance are endless, and the bigger knowledge the greater the jouissance. Despite the above there is not a real liberation of the subject in light of the jouissance, but persists an exercise of power: the self-knowledge.Maestrí
