    Frequency Switching for Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer

    A new frequency switching receiver structure is proposed for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer in multi-carrier communication systems. Each subcarrier is switched to either the energy harvesting unit or the information decoding unit, according to the optimal subcarrier allocation. To implement the system, one-bit feedback is required for each subcarrier. Two optimization problems are defined, converted to binary knapsack problems, and solved using dynamic programming approaches. Upper bounds are obtained using continuous relaxations. Power allocation is integrated to further increase the performance. Numerical studies show that the proposed frequency switching based model is better than existing models in a wide range of parameters

    Diversity Combining for RF Energy Harvesting

    RF energy harvesting (RFEH) is a promising technology for energy requirements of wireless communication nodes. However, providing sufficient amount of energy to ensure self-sufficient devices based on RFEH may be challenging. In this paper, the use of diversity combining in RFEH systems is proposed to increase the amount of harvested energy. The power consumption of diversity combining process is also taken into account to analyze the net benefit of diversity combining. Performances of RFEH systems are investigated for selection combining (SC), equal gain combining (EGC), and maximal ratio combining (MRC) techniques. Simulations are conducted to compare the numerical results of SC, EGC, and MRC, and the results show that although the diversity combining techniques can improve the energy harvesting performance, the power consumption parameters have a critical importance while determining the suitable technique

We then apply this result to the analysis of minimal connected simple groups of finite Morley rank. Our applications include general covering properties by Borel subgroups, the description of Weyl groups and the analysis of toral automorphisms

    Some production traits of indigenous Hair goats bred under extensive conditions in Turkey. 2nd communication: viability and growth performances of kids

    In this study, it was studied that viability in preweaning period and growth performance in the period from birth to 8 months of age of Hair kids (Anatolian Black Goat). A total data of 439 kids in 2003 and 2004 years were used in the study. survival rates of kids at 1(st), 2(nd) and 3(rd) months were 98.86%, 96.81% and 95.44%, respectively. The effects of year, farm and age of dam on this trait were statistically insignificant, although the effect of birth type on only the survival rate at 3(rd) month was significant (p<0.05). The body weights of kids at birth, 1(st), 2(nd), 3(rd), 4(th), 5(th), 6(th), 7(th) and 8(th) months were 2.19 kg, 6.19 kg, 9.70 kg, 13 08 kg, 16.31 kg 18.77 kg, 20.25 kg, 25.38 kg and 23.32 kg, respectively. The effects of sex and age of darn oil body weights in all growth periods, the effect of year on weights in growth periods except for 7(th) and 8(th) months, the effect of farm oil weights in growth periods except for 6(th) and 8(th) months and the effect of birth type oil birth weight and weights at 4(th) and 5(th) months were statistically significant (p<0.05). In the result of this study, it was determined that Hair kids reared under extensive conditions had high performance especially in terms of viability

    This study was conducted to investigate the reproductive performance, milk yield, hair production, fleece characteristics and body weight after shearing of Hair goats (Anatolian Black Goats), bred under extensive conditions in Turkey. The material of the study was formed a total data of 456 Flair goats, which were between 2 and 7 years of age bred in the period of two years. Conception rate, infertility Fate, abortion rate, kidding rate, single birth Fate, twin birth rate, the percentage of kids born according to mated does and litter size were 97.81%, 2.19%. 3.59%, 94.30%. 97.91%., 2.09%, 96.27% and 1.02, respectively. Lactation length, milk yield in lactation period milking period and milk yield in milking period of goats were determined as 232.29 days, 100.92 kg, 132,09 days and 43.14 kg, respectively. Hair production, fibre diameter and staple length of Hair goats in the study were determined as 381.00 g, 76.70 micrones and 13.63 cm, respectively. It was found that the effects of production year and farm on the reproductive traits given by percentage weren't statistically significant. whereas the difference among production years for litter size was significant. It was found that the effect of production year oil milk production traits except for lactation length and on the hair production; the effect of farm factor on the hair production, staple length and live weigth after shearing, the effect of age on the milk production traits, hair production traits and live weight after shearing the effect of live weight on the hair production were statistically significant (p<0.05)

    Self-training Guided Adversarial Domain Adaptation For Thermal Imagery

    Deep models trained on large-scale RGB image datasets have shown tremendous success. It is important to apply such deep models to real-world problems. However, these models suffer from a performance bottleneck under illumination changes. Thermal IR cameras are more robust against such changes, and thus can be very useful for the real-world problems. In order to investigate efficacy of combining feature-rich visible spectrum and thermal image modalities, we propose an unsupervised domain adaptation method which does not require RGB-to-thermal image pairs. We employ large-scale RGB dataset MS-COCO as source domain and thermal dataset FLIR ADAS as target domain to demonstrate results of our method. Although adversarial domain adaptation methods aim to align the distributions of source and target domains, simply aligning the distributions cannot guarantee perfect generalization to the target domain. To this end, we propose a self-training guided adversarial domain adaptation method to promote generalization capabilities of adversarial domain adaptation methods. To perform self-training, pseudo labels are assigned to the samples on the target thermal domain to learn more generalized representations for the target domain. Extensive experimental analyses show that our proposed method achieves better results than the state-of-the-art adversarial domain adaptation methods.
