With the changes in the quality of education requirements and the study opportunities, it is essential to find out how youth’s readiness to study develops, and what are its’ contributing factors. The aim is to clarify the explanation of the definition „readiness”. Analyzing literature, it is concluded that in many respects readiness for concrete studies is dependent on the youth’s motives and motivation, major and minor needs, system of values, socially financial circumstances, individual characters, temperament, individually-psychological characteristics, physical and physiological growth, on the state’s policy in the fields of education, youth, and jurisprudence, as well as on youth's attitudes to society and themselves

Nowadays information technology is widley used in studying process thus enabling students to acquire knowledge in a convenient place and time. It is a novel approach and a challenge for both – the students and the faculty of Latvian University Riga Medical College (LU RMK). In order to provide and develope e-learning environment LU RMK has launched a Project whose main objective is „to develop guidelines and video training materials in the e-environment for students and faculty staff in order to provide a more efficient studying process”. Implementation of the project has been started with a pilot study „Medical students’ motivation to work in e-environment”, designed to explore students’ motivation and factors affecting the work of the e environment. Methods: A pilot study using a quantitative method – a survey. To achieve the goal 209 students have been surveyed in the LU RMK

Maģistra darbs „Nepilnīgi veikta pacientu aprūpe un to ietekmējošie faktori”. Master’s thesis “Missed nursing care and affecting factors”. The theoretical framework is based on the works and theories of Hall and Wiedenbach as well as Missed Nursing Care model analysis by Kalisch. Theoretical review covers information on nursing education, practice, regulatory documentation and factors that affect nursing practice. Four research questions were proposed to establish the frequency and type of missed nursing care; what are the causes of missed nursing care; how often does missed care occur; what are the most common types and whether the reasons for missed care can be linked to the demographic characteristics of the nurses. Our data suggest that main causes for missed care in the nursing practice are sudden influx of patients and insufficient staffing to accomodate for it, broken or faulty equipment, inadequate staffing levels, lack of communication between registered nurses and nursing assistants, absence of caregivers, tension or lack of communication within the nursing team and medical staff in general. Aim of the study: to research and understand causes of missed nursing care Research instrument: Missed Nursing Survey Research methods: quantitative, non-experimental. Keywords: missed nursing care, missed care, nursing practic
