Impact of solar photovoltaics on the low-voltage distribution network in New Zealand
Residential rooftop-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) panels are being installed at an increasing rate, both in New Zealand and globally. There have been concerns over possible issues such as overvoltage and overcurrent. These PV systems are mostly connected at low voltage (LV). This study presents a case study of simulating the entire LV network from a single utility, comprising 10,558 11 kVâ415 V transformers and their associated distribution feeders. These results are also presented by network type. Various solar PV penetration levels are added to the model and the power-flow results are presented. From these results, possible maximum limits of solar PV penetration are investigated and measures to alleviate overvoltage problems are simulated. The effect of using PV inverters with voltage regulation is simulated. Results show that some minor overvoltage problems can be expected in the future, particularly in urban areas. However, in most cases the overvoltage would not be much higher than the statutory limit of 1.06 p.u
Frequency and damping of hydrodynamic modes in a trapped Bose-condensed gas
Recently it was shown that the Landau-Khalatnikov two-fluid hydrodynamics
describes the collision-dominated region of a trapped Bose condensate
interacting with a thermal cloud. We use these equations to discuss the low
frequency hydrodynamic collective modes in a trapped Bose gas at finite
temperatures. We derive a variational expressions based on these equations for
both the frequency and damping of collective modes. A new feature is our use of
frequency-dependent transport coefficients, which produce a natural cutoff by
eliminating the collisionless low-density tail of the thermal cloud. Above the
superfluid transition, our expression for the damping in trapped inhomogeneous
gases is analogous to the result first obtained by Landau and Lifshitz for
uniform classical fluids. We also use the moment method to discuss the
crossover from the collisionless to the hydrodynamic region. Recent data for
the monopole-quadrupole mode in the hydrodynamic region of a trapped gas of
metastable He is discussed. We also present calculations for the damping of
the analogous monopole-quadrupole condensate mode in the superfluid

The accuracy of 99mTc-DTPA scintigraphy in the evaluation of acute renal graft complications
PURPOSE: Renal scintigraphy has been used for many years in the evaluation of renal transplants and can help in the diagnosis of graft complications, leading to prompt clinical management and preventing further deterioration of renal function. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the overall accuracy of renal scintigraphy with 99mTc-DTPA in the diagnosis of acute renal graft complications. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Seventy-six scintigraphic studies performed in 55 patients (ages ranging from 6 to 65 years), were reviewed. Scintigraphy results were compared to biopsies performed within 5 days of imaging. 99mTc-DTPA study was performed within a mean time of 19 days after kidney transplants. Dynamic images were performed in the anterior position of the abdomen and pelvis every 2 seconds for 80 seconds (flow phase) and every 15 seconds for 30 minutes (functional phase), after an intravenous injection of 370 MBq (10 mCi) of 99mTc-DTPA. RESULTS: The scintigraphic results were concordant with the biopsies in 86% of the cases studied. The sensitivities of renal scintigraphy for detection of acute tubular necrosis (ATN), acute rejection (AR) and cortical necrosis (CN) were 98%, 87% and 100%, respectively. Specificities and accuracies for detection of ATN, AR and CN were 89%, 86% and 100%, and 95%, 87% and 100%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Renal scintigraphy with 99mTc-DTPA showed a good overall accuracy in the detection of acute renal graft complications. Quantum effects in the quasiparticle structure of the ferromagnetic Kondo lattice model
A new ``Dynamical Mean-field theory'' based approach for the Kondo lattice
model with quantum spins is introduced. The inspection of exactly solvable
limiting cases and several known approximation methods, namely the second-order
perturbation theory, the self-consistent CPA and finally a moment-conserving
decoupling of the equations of motion help in evaluating the new approach. This
comprehensive investigation gives some certainty to our results: Whereas our
method is somewhat limited in the investigation of the J<0-model, the results
for J>0 reveal important aspects of the physics of the model: The energetically
lowest states are not completely spin-polarized.A band splitting, which occurs
already for relatively low interaction strengths, can be related to distinct
elementary excitations, namely magnon emission (absorption) and the formation
of magnetic polarons. We demonstrate the properties of the ferromagnetic Kondo
lattice model in terms of spectral densities and quasiparticle densities of

Optimal transfers from Moon to halo orbit of the Earth-Moon system
In this paper, we seek optimal solutions for a transfer from a parking orbit
around the Moon to a halo orbit around of the Earth-Moon system, by
applying a single maneuver and exploiting the stable invariant manifold of the
hyperbolic parking solution at arrival. For that, we propose an optimization
problem considering as variables both the orbital characteristics of a parking
solution around the Moon, (namely, its Keplerian elements) and the
characteristics of a transfer trajectory guided by the stable manifold of the
arrival Halo orbit. The problem is solved by a nonlinear programming method
(NLP), aiming to minimize the cost of to perform a single maneuver
transfer, within the framework of the Earth-Moon system of the circular
restricted three-body problem. Results with low and suitable time of
flight show the feasibility of this kind of transfer for a Cubesat
Numerical investigations of the orbital dynamics around a synchronous binary system of asteroids
In this article, equilibrium points and families of periodic orbits in the
vicinity of the collinear equilibrium points of a binary asteroid system are
investigated with respect to the angular velocity of the secondary body, the
mass ratio of the system and the size of the secondary. We assume that the
gravitational fields of the bodies are modeled assuming the primary as a mass
point and the secondary as a rotating mass dipole. This model allows to compute
families of planar and halo periodic orbits that emanate from the equilibrium
points and . The stability and bifurcations of these families are
analyzed and the results are compared with the results obtained with the
Restricted Three-Body Problem (RTBP). The results provide an overview of the
dynamical behavior in the vicinity of a binary asteroid system

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the efficacy of cumulative doses (CDs) of 131I-iodide therapy (RIT) in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The probability of progressive disease according to CDs was evaluated in patients < 45 years old and > 45 years old and correlated to tumor-node-metastasis (TNM), thyroglobulin values, histological types and variants, age, and zduration of the disease. RESULTS: At the end of a follow-up period of 69 ± 56 months, 85 out of 150 DTC patients submitted to fixed doses RIT had no evidence of disease, 47 had stable disease and 18 had progressive disease. Higher CDs were used in the more aggressive variants (p < 0.0001), higher TNM stages (p < 0.0001), and follicular carcinomas (p = 0.0034). Probability of disease progression was higher with CDs > 600 mCi in patients > 45 years old and with CDs > 800 mCi in patients < 45 years. CONCLUSION: Although some patients may still respond to high CDs, the impact of further RIT should be carefully evaluated and other treatment strategies may be warranted.OBJETIVO: Avaliar a eficĂĄcia de doses cumulativas (DCs) da terapia com iodeto-131I (RIT) no cĂąncer diferenciado de tiroide (CDT). RESULTADOS: Ao final de um seguimento de 69 ± 56 meses, 85 dos 150 pacientes CDT submetidos a doses fixas de RIT nĂŁo tinham evidĂȘncia de doença, 47 tinham doença estĂĄvel e 18, doença progressiva. DCs mais elevadas foram usadas nas variantes agressivas (p < 0,0001), maior estĂĄgio TNM (p < 0,0001) e nos carcinomas foliculares (p = 0,0034). A probabilidade de doença em progressĂŁo foi maior com DCs > 600 mCi em pacientes > 45 anos e com DCs > 800 mCi em pacientes < 45 anos. CONCLUSĂO: Apesar de alguns pacientes ainda responderem a altas DCs, o impacto de RITs deve ser cuidadosamente avaliado e outras estratĂ©gias terapĂȘuticas devem ser consideradas.80781

Analysis of the relationship between life expectancy and social determinants in a north-eastern region of Brazil, 2010-2017
The process of population aging is a worldwide reality becoming a global public health challenge. Although population aging is especially noticeable in more developed regions, there has also been a significant advance in the quantity of elderly people in areas with unfavourable socioeconomic indicators, and a rapid growth in countries with a low level of economic development. This article presents an analysis based on spatial autocorrelation of the relationship between life expectancy and social determinants in a north-eastern region of Brazil. An ecological study was conducted using the secondary data of social, demographic, and health indicators of elderly people collected in the Brazilian Demographic Census of the 75 municipalities of the state of Sergipe. Spatial autocorrelation was evaluated using the Moran global index and the local indicators of space association. Multiple linear regression models were used to identify the relationship between life expectancy and social determinants. The South-eastern region of the state presented clusters with all indicators pointing to acceptable lifestyles, whereas the municipalities of the north-western and far-eastern regions were characterized by values demonstrating precarious living conditions. The high dependency ratio, illiteracy rate, and unemployment rate among elderly people had a negative impact on life expectancy. The evidence confirms that there is an autocorrelation between social determinants and life expectancy, indicating that the worse the social, economic, and health indicators are, the lower the life expectancy. This finding indicates the need to redirect public policies and formulate strategies aimed at reducing social and health inequalities
