Promotion of prehospital emergency care through clinical decision support systems: opportunities and challenges
Clinical decision support systems are interactive computer systems for situational decision making and can improve decision efficiency and safety of care. We investigated the role of these systems in enhancing prehospital care. This narrative review included full-text articles published since 2000 that were available in databases/e-journals including Web of Science, PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. Search keywords included “clinical decision support system,” “decision support system,” “decision support tools,” “prehospital care,” and “emergency medical services.” Non-journal articles were excluded. We revealed 14 relevant studies that used such a support system in prehospital emergency medical service. Owing to the dynamic nature of emergency situations, decision timing is critical. Four key factors demonstrated the ability of clinical decision support systems to improve decision-making, reduce errors, and improve the safety of prehospital emergency activity: computer-based, offer support as a natural part of the workflow, provide decision support in the time and place of decision making, and offer practical advice. The use of clinical decision support systems in prehospital care resulted in accurate diagnoses, improved patient triage and patient outcomes, and reduction of prehospital time. By improving emergency management and rescue operations, the quality of prehospital care will be enhanced
A Comparison of Ice Cold Water Pretreatment and alpha-Bromonaphthalene Cytogenetic Method for Identification of Papaver Species
The plants belonging to many species in genus Papaver are very similar and have very small chromosomes that make identification very difficult. The study aimed to compare the effects of alpha-bromonaphtalene and ice cold water pretreatment to identify chromosomes of Papaver species collected from different areas of Iranian West Azerbaijan and Turkish Van, Agri and, Hakkari provinces. The seeds were germinated in Jacobson trays at 24 degrees C under continuous light. Thereafter, roots from 1.5 cm long plantlets were pretreated with alpha bromonaphtalene for 15, 30, and 45min or at 0 degrees C in ice cold water for 24 h before fixing, hydrolyzation, and feulgen staining. The ice cold water pretreatment was more appropriate and easy to determine chromosomes. Seeds from seven samples did not germinate. Sixty samples out of the rest of 62 samples were identified as P. pseudo orientale, one sample was identified as P. bracteatum, and another as P. orientale. This is the first study that used ice cold water to determine the chromosomes in papaver species. It is hoped that it will also facilitate to determine chromosome number and identify other papver species
Plasto-damage modelling for semi-brittle geomaterials
This paper presents an elastoplastic damage model for constitutive modelling of semi-brittle geomaterials showing two irreversible mechanisms. On one hand, the model deals with the plastic behaviour of a porous medium by a new variant of Barcelona Basic Model. On the other hand, the model combines the micromechanical definition of damage and phenomenological concepts in the framework of Continuum Damage Mechanics (CDM) for damage modelling. A second order tensorial damage variable is adopted for the model. Damaged effective stress variables are employed for formulation of elastoplastic behaviour laws and the plastic yield surface is a damage dependent one. The model has been validated by comparing the numerical results with experimental results of argillites
Identification of Effective Factors on Cultural Heritage Tourists’ Satisfaction in Sheikh Safi al-din Khānegāh World Heritage Site
Regarding social trends in the contemporary world, cultural heritage tourists’ satisfaction has become more important than ever. The aim of this study was to measure the level of cultural heritage tourists’ satisfaction of Sheikh Safi al-din Khānegāh as World Heritage Site (WHS). Participants were 400 tourists who visited the universal ensemble of Sheikh Safi and were selected using convenience sampling method. The questionnaire included questions on the motivations of the visit, the satisfaction level of visiting various parts of the ensemble and the services, which were analyzed using SPSS software after finalizing. The results showed the low satisfaction rate of tourists which did not meet WHS standards. There was a high dissatisfaction rate especially among educated people. The study revealed that the satisfaction of cultural heritage tourists on visiting the sites were not considered important for authorities and officials of the Cultural Heritage Organization in Iran; however, tourists’ satisfaction is one of the main factors of sustainable tourism developmen
