    Get PDF
The paper represents the description of the zonal and regional geological factors of geoengineering conditions which characterize the territory in South Yakutia crossed by the designed main gas pipeline. Cryogenic processes and karst are considered to be the most dangerous hazards for gas pipeline maintenance. Karst hazard assessment of the gas pipeline section made in the course of the research has involved a complex of geological methods: geoengineering, geophysical, hydrogeological, and mapping. Sections prone to karst development have been identified. The authors have suggested the measures to protect potentially hazardous sections and to ensure timely informing on sinkhole collapses

Isolation and evaluation of the ability of various actinomycetes to produce bioactive secondary metabolites is a long-term and expensive procedure. Many species of actinomycetes have similar morphological characteristics, therefore phenotyping of these microorganisms requires methods of metabolic profiling to be applied. Analysis of metabolic pathways can help in both the taxonomic identification of a microorganism and the assessment of its ability to produce a variety of secondary metabolites. In this paper, we first carried out metabolic profiling of Streptomyces isolates from different types of Tatarstan soils using GEN III OmniLog system. We also performed a phylogenetic analysis of strains. We assigned strains to the genus Streptomyces, and identified species such as Streptomyces fimicarius, Streptomyces badius, Streptomyces mirabilis and Streptomyces violaceoruber. We have shown that the system GEN III OmniLog® II Combo Plus is a powerful tool to get an overview of the active metabolic pathways of actinomycetes and can be used for high-performance analysis. It can also provide useful information to clarify the phylogenetic position of a microorganism. We can use both the profiles of substrate utilization, growth, secondary metabolites, and anti-microbial profiles, obtained by using the GEN III OmniLog® II Combo Plus system, in the microbial drug development programs

The association study of antioxidant status and antioxidant genes polymorphisms in patients with ischemic heart disease in the Republic of Tatarstan

Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is a multifactorial disease caused by the interplay of environmental risk factors with multiple predisposing genes. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the role of genetic polymorphism, oxidative stress and antioxidant status in IHD patients. IHD patients are characterized by a change of the blood serum's antioxidant status, which is expressed in significant increases/decreases of the total antioxidant activity, lipid hydroperoxides and ceruloplasmin indicators in comparison with normal values and also in significant increases of the malondialdehyde for the patients with acute myocardial infarction. This study also showed that the level of some of the examined antioxidant system indicators depends on polymorphism of the genes, which encode the enzymatic antioxidant system pool (genes of catalase, extracellular and mitochondrial superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase). © IDOSI Publications, 2013

About rational number of spindles on drums of cotton harvester

    Get PDF
The technological process in a cotton harvesting machine is carried out mainly with the help of spindle drums, doffers, and mechanisms that set them in motion. The contact of the spindles in the drums with the open bolls of the cotton during the harvesting process is due to the quality of the harvest and the full set of parameters of the drums, which should be paid attention to: diameters, the number of spindles in them, kinematics, the size of the open bolls and the size of the cotton. The article presents the analytical expression linking the parameters of the drum and the open bolls of cotton based on the analysis of the results of studies conducted in this direction and experiments. The graphs were constructed that reveal the essence of this connection, and their analysis was given. The article presents the results of comparative experiments on the example of a vertically-spindle cotton harvester with two pairs of sequentially arranged spindle drums with 12, 14, and 15 spindles on each drum with the same diameter kinematic mode of its operation. The results of theoretical and experimental studies have allowed us to conclude that an increase in the number of spindles in front paired drums contributes to an increase in the completeness of cotton harvesting from open cotton bolls

BACKGROUND: According to the involvement of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of obesity, the plasma level of coenzyme q10 in the correlation relationship with lipid metabolism disorders and functional liver state is of interest to study.AIM: Substantiation of approaches to the correction of lipid metabolism disorders and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in children with exogenous obesity based on the content of coenzyme Q10 and its relationship with lipid profile and liver enzymes.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The single-center cross-sectional study enlisted the control (n=32, -1.0≤BMI SD score ≤+2.0) and obese (n=40, BMI SD score>+2.0) groups of children with the mean age of 12 yr. In all children BMI, lipidogram, liver enzymes (ALT and AST), plasma coenzyme Q10 and liver ultrasound examination were assessed.RESULTS: Patients of both groups were comparable (p> 0.05) in age and gender. The level of coenzyme Q10 in the compared groups was comparable (p> 0.05) and did not differ in patients with different degrees of obesity. According to the results of the study of the lipid profile in the obese children, the level of HDL was lower, and the level of LDL was higher than that in control group. The highest value of HDL was obtained in the patients with the 1st degree of obesity and the highest level of triglycerides — in the patients with the 4th degree of obesity. The control group demonstrated moderate correlations between endogenous coenzyme Q10 and total cholesterol (r=0.474, p=0.009) which persists in patients with the first degree of obesity (r = 0.548, p = 0.035). There was no difference in AST in the study groups, however, the main group demonstrated elevated ALT and ALT/AST ratio (p <0.001). The highest ALT and ALT / AST ratio were observed in patients with greatest degree of obesity. Eighteen obese children (45%) had ALT / AST ratio ≥1 (in the control group –one patient (3%) (p <0.001), while fourteen patients showed liver enlargement and structure change according to ultrasound (80%). The control group demonstrated moderate correlations between endogenous coenzyme Q10 and total cholesterol (r=0.474, p=0.009) and between coenzyme Q10 and ALT / AST ratio (r=0.412, p=0.023) . In the obese group there was correlation between AI and ALT / AST (r = 0.436, p = 0.006) and in patients with the 1st degree of obesity — between also coenzyme Q10 and ALT (r = 0.875, p <0.001).CONCLUSION: The disturbances in adequate control of cholesterol by coenzyme Q10 in obese children possibly confirming the involvement of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of dyslipidemia and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease can serve as indication to use coenzyme Q10 in order to correct these complications
