Solution of Volterra integral inclusion in b-metric spaces via new fixed point theorem

    Get PDF
An existence theorem for Volterra-type integral inclusion is establish in b-metric spaces. We first introduce two new F-contractions of Hardy–Rogers type and then establish fixed point theorems for these contractions in the setting of b-metric spaces. Finally, we apply our fixed point theorem to prove the existence theorem for Volterra-type integral inclusion. We also provide an example to show that our fixed point theorem is a proper generalization of a recent fixed point theorem by Cosentino et al

A comprehensive review on preparation of pure immunoglobulins

    Get PDF
Immunoglobulins are also known as antibodies. Plasma cells are responsible for the production of immunoglobulins. Beta cells are activated against a pathogenic attack and facilitated the formation of different types of immunoglobulins naturally. These immunoglobulins are also artificially synthesized by non-specific laboratorial techniques include fractionation precipitation, electrophoretic methods, gel filtration chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, hydrophobic chromatography and by the specific immuno- adsorbent methods. Third generation immunoglobulins are effectively used for therapeutic purpose against viral infections intravenously. Second generation immunoglobulins synthesis involved removal of anti-complement contaminants and IgG aggregates, through enzymatic degradation and chemical modification. The harmful effects of intravenous immunoglobulins can be reduced by using ultraviolet light, P-propiolactone, and pepsin at pH 4. Intravenous immunoglobulin drugs lead to anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects in various infections. The mechanism of action of intravenous immunoglobulins is dependent on the binding between the Fc portion of injected IgG and target cell receptors. Radiolabeling is performed by two methods as in vivo, in which radiolabeled antibodies are incorporated into the body to bind with the antibodies and in vitro method, radioactive material is bound with already formed antibodies. This chapter highlighted the artificial methods adopted for production of radiolabeled immunoglobulins holding significant therapeutic and diagnostic applications

Vulnerability to Climate Change and Socio-Economic Factors: A Comparison of Selected Districts of Punjab

    Get PDF
This study analyzes ten districts of the province Punjab of Pakistan to investigate and compare the vulnerability of selected districts. Total Three sub-groups (socio-economic variables, adaptive capacity, bio-physical variables) are generated by using the data from Pakistan Social & Living Standard Measurement Survey (PSLM) and Pakistan Meteorological Department of the years 2014-15, to calculate total vulnerability. Using primary variables at the district level, this study determines each district’s rural and urban areas' total vulnerability score. The results show that few districts, e.g., Rawalpindi has 0.74 total vulnerability score out of 1, are highly vulnerable compared to other districts despite having a better socio-economic situation. On the other hand, few districts, like Multan, have a low vulnerability to climate change and socio-economic factors. Keywords: CO2, socio-economic, bio-physical, environment, Vulnerability. Executive remuneration, corporate governance and corporate performance: Evidence from China

    Get PDF
This study investigates the impact of corporate performance and corporate governance on executive remuneration in a Chinese market setting. Using Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation approach for a sample of 860 non-financial firms listed on Chinese Stock Exchanges over the 15 years period of 2004–2018, the study found a positive and significant association between corporate profitability and executive pay. The study further reports that ownership concentration is positively related to executive pay revealing an entrenchment effect i.e., collusion between large shareholders and top management. Consistent with managerial power and agency theory CEO duality exhibits a positive relationship with executive remuneration, while board size and board independence also reveal a positive association with executive pay, indicating board ineffectiveness in reducing managerial entrenchment. Interestingly, non-state-owned enterprises report a negative relationship of board size with executive remuneration which means non-state-owned enterprises with larger board size tend to reduce executive pay because they may have better control and monitoring. Following the managerial power propositions, CEO duality weakens the performance sensitivity of executive pay, but contrary to agency theory the impact of board independence on this sensitivity is in contrast and weakens the relationship of managerial pay and performance, making the independent director’s role ambiguous

Assessment of Seismic Capacity for Reinforced Concrete Frames with Perforated Unreinforced Brick Masonry Infill Wall

    Get PDF
Infill walls increase the strength and stiffness of the reinforced concrete frames, but they usually are not considering in design. However, when the infills are considered in the design, the opening for doors/windows necessitates investigation as well. This research work aims to investigate the effect of perforations (openings) in the infill walls on the performance of infilled RC frames, in other words, this research investigates the number of infill walls in infilled RC frames. Based on the current construction practices in Pakistan, two full scales perforated infilled RC frames were constructed in the laboratory. One infilled RC frame has an eccentric door and window (specimen-1) while the other has only window at its centre (specimen-2). Both the specimens were tested against reverse cyclic loading (quasi-static test). From the experimental testing, it was found that infilled RC frame having less amount of opening in infill wall has more resistance to lateral loads, have more stiffness and dissipated higher energy as compared to infilled RC frame having a significant size of the opening in infill wall. Similarly, displacement ductility (µD) and Response modification factor (R) also depend on the quantity of opening in infill wall in infilled RC frame. Doi: 10.28991/cej-2020-03091625 Full Text: PD

    Get PDF
This study was conducted to evaluate the antimicrobial potentials of methanol, petroleum ether, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, butanol and water extracted samples from the aerial parts of Eclipta alba against nine microbial species. The antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) susceptibility was screened by disc diffusion assay. The tested microbial species were Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans, Erwinia carotovora, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus. The extracts were applied in different concentrations of 1, 2 and 3 mg disc-1. Analysis of the data revealed that all the six extracts from E. alba showed different ranges of antimicrobial activities. Butanol fraction showed inhibitory activities against all the nine microbial species. Ethyl acetate fraction showed inhibitory effects against all the tested microbial species except B. cereus and S. typhi. Petroleum ether, dichloromethane, methanol and water extracted samples had varying levels of inhibitions against some of these microorganisms. The most resistant microbial strain was S. typhi and was not controlled by petroleum ether, dichloromethane, methanol and water extracted samples. The most susceptible Gram positive bacterium was B. subtilis and was inhibited by all the six extracts from E. alba while the most resistant Gram positive bacterium was B. cereus. E. carotovora was the most susceptible Gram negative bacterium while S. typhi and E. coli were highly resistant among the Gram negative bacteria.Key words: Antimicrobial, potential, Eclipta alba, disc diffusion

The Role of Distribution Channels and Educational level towards Insurance Awareness among the General Public

    Get PDF
This research study aims at giving an overview of the emerging research field of Islamic insurance in a phase that is still under debate among Muslim nations. No doubt, Takaful (Islamic insurance) is growing rapidly but it is still behind conventional insurance. Most of the researches reveal the fact that general public is unaware about Takaful and Takaful awareness level is low among general public. Researchers and practitioners are trying to explore the crucial factors which creates Takaful awareness among general public. However, only few studies are available in Pakistan which formally documented the issue and explore different Takaful awareness factors among general public of Pakistan. Therefore, the ultimate objective of this study is to find out general factors which enhance Takaful awareness level among general public of Pakistan. To achieve this objective, three hypotheses are proposed concerning the relationship of Takaful awareness level and other Takaful awareness factors such as Educational Level of general public, Religious Orientation of general public and Takaful Distribution Channels. Primary data was collected from general public of Pakistan by using 5-point Likert scale. These hypotheses predicting a positive relationship between Takaful awareness level and awareness factors (i.e., educational level, religious orientation, distribution channels). However, religious orientation has higher impact as compared to Takaful distribution channels and educational level. Study found that these three factors are crucial to enhance Takaful awareness level among general public. Hence, this study is contributing in the body of knowledge by exploring the vital factors to enhance Takaful awareness level and tried to resolve the important issue of Takaful awareness by developing a framework. This study is more significant for practitioners to enhance Takaful awareness level by exercising these three factors among general public of Pakistan
