Orbital and Dynamical Investigation of the Galactic Center S-cluster

    Get PDF
At the center of the Milky Way resides the so-called the S-cluster, orbiting the super massive black hole on highly elliptical orbits. In this research, I use the data obtained from the Very Large Telescope in Chile to analyse the dynamics and structure of this cluster. In the first attempt and using visual inspection of the orbits, I find that a sample of 32 orbits are arranged in two highly inclined perpendicular disks with each disk containing clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. In the second project, which was established to obtain orbital solutions for 71 stars that lack radial velocity measurements, I explore 8 different approaches that belong to Markov chain Monte Carlo, approximate Bayesian computations and nested sampling. The findings show that nested sampling outperforms both MCMC and ABC and hence it is used for further application. Finally, in the last project, I use machine learning clustering algorithms after obtaining a sample of 20 orbits using Ultranest to cluster the specific angular momentum vectors in 3D to find any prominent structure. The analysis show that the majority of 57 orbits are organized in a system of three highly inclined disks, two of which are closely oriented in space, while both being perpendicular to a thicker more populated disk, which might be connected to the already identified clockwise rotating disk further away. In summary, this research reveals that the existence of stellar disks in the vicinity of SMBH is possible and the S-cluster could have originated rather locally. Nevertheless, detailed N-body simulations are required to form a solid conclusion about the formation of this system and its current structural configurations

Numerous nations depend heavily on taxation as their principal source of income, and tax evasion is a big issue for their tax agencies and governments. Studies on information technology and tax evasion in underdeveloped nations and other parts of the globe are few and far between. The purpose of this research was to investigate the link between information technology and the reduction of tax evasion. A mediator variable in the relationship between information technology and tax evasion was also explored in this research, which was called Innovation. The research employed a survey approach, sending questionnaires to 200 auditors at Jordanian listed companies. A total of 121 questionnaires were gathered from auditors working in Jordanian companies and evaluated using Partial Least Squares methods (PLS). The findings revealed that information technology (both in terms of system quality and user quality) may help to prevent tax evasion. The role of innovation as a mediator has been shown to have a favorable and substantial association between information technology and the reduction of tax evasion. These findings underlined the Jordanian companys increased reliance on information technology in order to carry out tax obligations, which would aid them in their efforts to prevent tax evasion. This research serves as a guideline for tax administrations as they implement improvements in sustainable IT to streamline tax administration while also improving taxpayer services & increasing law enforcement effectiveness

    ASME e-Human Powered Vehicle Challenge

The Human Powered Vehicle Competition is an engineering event where teams build a race vehicle to compete in an endurance contest. In the years past that USD has furnished a team, the vehicles have been designed to minimize weight and focusing on rider comfort in order to improve average speed across the span of the 2.5 hour race. This has been accomplished with lighter materials and novel designs. Further improvements to achieve a higher average speed is necessary for a superior race result and to develop the school program. The goal of our research is to target several aspects of human powered vehicle design to improve average speeds obtainable via human with electrical assistance. Addressing the efficiency of the vehicle was the main focus by considering the center of gravity, aerodynamic drag, and frame geometry with regard to rider position. By analyzing previous vehicles we were able to determine a practical approach to our design - consisting of a novel cable pre-tensioned, fully faired, tadpole frame design with a direct drive internal hub motor with regenerative braking for electrical assistance. We expect our design to excel in the course environment

The primary purpose of this investigation is to investigate the impact of MIS on organizational performance from a scholarly standpoint at Jordanian institutions with a business school. This studys target population includes 140 faculty members from Jordans AL-Balqa University. As the targeted colleges, a basic sample of (10) colleges is browsed, and 140 replies are distributed (14 surveys for every college). To evaluate the idea, measuring tools such as One-way ANOVA and regression analysis is used. The key findings revealed that there is a moderate positive relationship between MIS and organizational performance, and that the qualification of the respondents has no effect on the MIS related performance of faculty members; this suggests that the higher the administration data frameworks, the higher the institutions presentation. Furthermore, the findings revealed that administration, data frameworks had a considerable impact on university performance. In the last section, the researcher makes many fascinating suggestions for Jordanian institutions and their teaching personnel

Combatting digital addiction: Current approaches and future directions

    Get PDF
In recent years, the notion of digital addiction has become popular. Calls for solutions to combat it, especially in adolescents, are on the rise. Whilst there remains debate on the status of this phenomenon as a diagnosable mental health condition; there is a need for prevention and intervention approaches that encourage individuals to have more control over their digital usage. This narrative review examines digital addiction countermeasures proposed in the last ten years. By countermeasures, we mean strategies and techniques for prevention, harm reduction, and intervention towards addictive digital behaviours. We include studies published in peer-reviewed journals between 2010 and 2021 and based on empirical evidence. In total, 87 studies were included in the review. The findings show that the main countermeasures could be grouped under four categories: psycho-social, software mediated, pharmacological, and combined. Overall, it has been shown that the proposed countermeasures were effective in reducing addictive digital use. However, a general statement on the efficacy of proposed countermeasures cannot be made due to inconsistent conceptualisation of digital addiction and methodological weaknesses. Accordingly, this review highlights issues that need to be addressed in future studies

This study investigates the relationship between various factors in supply chain management (customer relationship, level of information, sharing postponement, sharing quality of information, and strategic supplier partnership) and their impact on organizational performance. This research relies on primary data collected through the use of questionnaires. The research will concentrate on Jordans tourist industry. Only 261 were approved and examined using SmartPLS.The results of the study indicate that sharing postponement, sharing quality of information, and strategic supplier partnership have a strong positive impact on organizational performance. However, the relationship between customer relationship and organizational performance is not statistically significant. The relationship between level of information and organizational performance is statistically significant. These findings suggest that organizations can improve their performance by implementing strategies to manage and optimize these factors in their supply chain. This study also evidenced that Supply Chain Complexity as moderator helps increase organiizational performance by interacting with Strategic Supplier Partnership, Level of Information, Sharing Quality of Information, Sharing Postponement. However, it should be noted that there is some inconsistency in the results compared to previous studies, and the relationship between these factors and organizational performance is still not fully understood. This highlights the need for further research in this area to gain a better understanding of how these factors impact organizational performance

© 2020, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG. Digital media usage can be problematic; exhibiting symptoms of behavioural addiction such as mood modification, tolerance, conflict, salience, withdrawal symptoms and relapse. Google Digital Wellbeing and Apple Screen Time are examples of an emerging family of tools to help people have a healthier and more conscious relationship with technology. Peer support groups is a known technique for behaviour change and relapse prevention. It can be facilitated online, especially with advanced social networking techniques. Elements of peer support groups are being already embedded in digital wellbeing tools, e.g. peer comparisons, peer commitments, collective usage limit-setting and family time. However, there is a lack of research about the factors influencing people acceptance and rejection of online peer support groups to enhance digital wellbeing. Previous work has qualitatively explored the acceptance and rejection factors to join and participate in such groups. In this paper, we quantitatively study the relationship between culture, personality, self-control, gender, willingness to join the groups and perception of their usefulness, on such acceptance and rejection factors. The qualitative phase included two focus groups and 16 interviews while the quantitative phase consisted of a survey (215 participants). We found a greater number of significant models to predict rejection factors than acceptance factors, although in all cases the amount of variance explained by the models was relatively small. This demonstrates the need to design and, also, introduce such technique in a contextualised and personalised style to avoid rejection and reactance
