A set of key questions to assess the stress among bank employees and its reliability: Bank Employee Stress Test (BEST8)

The aims of the present study are: to realize a tool, clear and helpful, to assess the occupational distress level in bank employees in Italy; secondly to assess the reliability of the tool. Eight sentences were considered after a consensus meeting that involved different professional figures. 70 questionnaires were collected. The overall Cronbach’s alpha was 0.596, a sufficient reliability was found. The elimination of one sentences (“I haven’t time to dedicate myself to my hobbies/activities/stuff”) increases alpha’s value from 0.596 to 0.620, and thus reach fully sufficient score. The claim “The pace of change on work place exceeds my capacity for adaptation” maximises the change of the level of reliability (Inter item Correlation = 0.528)

Are bank employees stressed? job perception and positivity in the banking sector: an italian observational study

Background: The epidemiology of stress on bank workers in Europe is only at the introductory stages. This study investigated for the first time the association between occupational stress level in bank-employees using the BEST8, Karasek-Model and socio-demographic and working factors in Italy. Methods: The observational pilot study involved 384 employees. Three questionnaires were adopted to collect data: Karasek-Model, BEST8 (p < 0.001) and Positivity-Scale. Results: 25% of the sample belonged to high stress group. The workers more stressed were older with a commercial role and consumer of antidepressants/sedatives. Women were much more likely to agree with the perception of feeling unsafe in a possible robbery (OR = 2.42; 95% CI: 1.50-3.91) and with that sales requests were in conflict with one's own personal moral code (OR = 2.31; 95% CI: 1.38-3.87). Older employees declared feeling inadequate in the workplace (OR = 1.97; 95% CI: 1.07-3.65) and younger employees referred to be anxious about meeting financial budget goals. Workers who had a low positivity had a lower probability of adaptation (OR = 0.88; 95% CI: 0.83-0.93). Conclusions: The occupational stress level in the banking sector involves many aspects: gender, type of bank, role, personal morals, high job-demands, low level of decision-making. This study recommended that banks should implement strategic interventions for well-being of employees, and consequently for their productivity

experiences in photogrammetric and laser scanner surveing of architectural heritage

The integration of different methodologies and simplification of procedures is surely one of the most important current themes in survey techniques for researching cultural heritage, especially for architectural heritage. The traditional methods for the metric survey of an architectural building (including micro geodesy and the stereophotogrammetric survey) are currently being consolidated. However, in the field of the architectural, artistic and archaeological survey, new technologies are now available and this knowledge needs to be more widely used, especially where the heritage is greater and so maintenance is as necessary as it is onerous. This report proposes some operative considerations, which derive from experience developed using the most modern technologies available, in order to compare and discuss the achievable accuracies (even if they are not always strictly necessary) and the operating modalities, especially for architectural surveys. So, the aim of this report is to verify that the simplification of procedures and cheaper solutions do not bring variations to the necessary metric precision or expert photointerpretation analysis. However, it is clear that, without considering the purposes and objectives of the survey, it would not be correct to appraise the survey methods and to classify those using reliability and accuracy criteria. In fact, the objective of a survey determines which tool will be used, according to the requests of the survey client to the survey expert

Acute Delta Hepatitis in Italy spanning three decades (1991–2019): Evidence for the effectiveness of the hepatitis B vaccination campaign

Updated incidence data of acute Delta virus hepatitis (HDV) are lacking worldwide. Our aim was to evaluate incidence of and risk factors for acute HDV in Italy after the introduction of the compulsory vaccination against hepatitis B virus (HBV) in 1991. Data were obtained from the National Surveillance System of acute viral hepatitis (SEIEVA). Independent predictors of HDV were assessed by logistic-regression analysis. The incidence of acute HDV per 1-million population declined from 3.2 cases in 1987 to 0.04 in 2019, parallel to that of acute HBV per 100,000 from 10.0 to 0.39 cases during the same period. The median age of cases increased from 27 years in the decade 1991-1999 to 44 years in the decade 2010-2019 (p < .001). Over the same period, the male/female ratio decreased from 3.8 to 2.1, the proportion of coinfections increased from 55% to 75% (p = .003) and that of HBsAg positive acute hepatitis tested for by IgM anti-HDV linearly decreased from 50.1% to 34.1% (p < .001). People born abroad accounted for 24.6% of cases in 2004-2010 and 32.1% in 2011-2019. In the period 2010-2019, risky sexual behaviour (O.R. 4.2; 95%CI: 1.4-12.8) was the sole independent predictor of acute HDV; conversely intravenous drug use was no longer associated (O.R. 1.25; 95%CI: 0.15-10.22) with this. In conclusion, HBV vaccination was an effective measure to control acute HDV. Intravenous drug use is no longer an efficient mode of HDV spread. Testing for IgM-anti HDV is a grey area requiring alert. Acute HDV in foreigners should be monitored in the years to come

Atraumatic splenic rupture in COVID-19 era: case report and systematic literature review

No full text
: Atraumatic splenic rupture is a rare but life-threatening condition. The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is still a mysterious infection, often associated with spontaneous bleeding and coagulation disorders. Among them, a rare presentation is the atraumatic splenic rupture during SARS-CoV-2 infection. We reported the case of a COVID-19 patient that underwent splenectomy for a spontaneous splenic rupture without splenomegaly or any hematological disorders. Moreover, we reviewed the literature about this matter focusing on the hypothetical etiopathogenesis of this condition in COVID-19 patients. Twelve cases of atraumatic splenic rupture without splenomegaly were reported in ten papers. Coughing, respiratory tract infections and anticoagulant treatment were postulated as the main risk factors for the spontaneous splenic rupture. COVID-19 is still a not well-known disease with multiple clinical presentations. The spontaneous splenic rupture is uncommon in general population but this event should not be neglected in this particular subset of patients
