THE BPMN APPROACH OF THE UNIVERSITY INFORMATION SYSTEMS

    Get PDF
In this article we provide a new vision about the enterprise modelling in the context of Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and the university area. Although the flow objects, artefacts, connecting objects and swim lanes are very used in the process of Enterprise Modelling, they have specific roles in the university information systems. The paper will reveal a specific approach of BPMN in the context of university information systems based on a comparative analysis of some representative universities from United States and Central Europe. Our ideas are argued with a practical case study that includes 4 realistic and complex systems: study programs and curriculum, students’ admission, student roadmap, students’ exchange. The future directions of the article are some visions of BPMN orchestration of a SOA-based architecture for Student Record Systems

    Hexakis(1H-imidazole-κN 3)iron(II) sulfate–1H-imidazole (1/2)

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Fe(C3H4N2)6]SO4·2C3H4N2, contains two complex cations, two sulfate anions and four imidazole molecules. In both cations, the FeII atom is coordinated by six monodentate imidazole ligands and exhibits a slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The Fe—N distances [2.184 (4)–2.218 (4) Å] point to a high-spin state of the Fe2+ ions. N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the ionic components generate a three-dimensional framework containing corrugated channels along [001], which are filled by N—H⋯N hydrogen-bonded imidazole chains

Adaptive UIX Layer for University Information SOA-BUS

The user interface (UI) layer is considered one of the key components of software applications since it connects their end-users to functionalities. Well-engineered and robust software applications could eventually fail to be adopted due to a weak UI layer. In the current market, when creating sites, UI designers have to determine how to plan the best interface according to the devices of the users, namely desktops, laptops, tablets or smartphones. Having this in mind, the current paper aims to present the adaptive UIX Layer for a University Information SOA-Bus (UISB) – a topic discussed in previous works [1], [2]. In this respect, we reviewed the literature on responsive and adaptive web design in order to identify the best front-end approach to the UISB. According to our findings, there is a strong debate in the academic field as well in the IT business in what concerns UI design. Recent interests have shown that the new trend in drafting the front-end layer is choosing between a responsive and an adaptive design. While arguments provided by both sides have failed to ease the decision makers’ choices on what type of design to choose, we aim to bring some light on the subject by proposing different layers for the UISB

Airn: Assessing awareness of Italian low-risk pregnant patients on low-risk pregnancy care and what do they feel about their own pregnancy Methods: A questionnaire was administered to 382 low-risk pregnant women. This questionnaire assessed generai knowledge of low-risk pregnancy, low-risk pregnancy care, and how much patients rated ten topics of low-risk pregnancy care. It would be expected that the knowledge of each topic would associates with the patient's perceived importance of that topic. Resulis: Poor knowledge of pregnancy care was proven. Patients seem to incorrectly overrate vaginal examinations and obstetric and gynecologist-led care, whi!e they attribute appropriate importance to midwife-led care. The more exami-nations performed (vaginal examinations, sonographic checks, cardiotocographies), the higher their rating. Conclusions: In Italy, expectations of pregnant women about their own pregnancy are incorrectly trusted in the obstetrics and gynecologists. Both poor knowledge of pregnancy care and cultural perspectives on the birth process amongst Italian people explain the finding. Referring low-risk pregnant women to midwivcs would help them to rate more the care than the caregiver. (www.actabiomedica.it

Inguinal hernia repair represents one of the most frequent pathologies with surgical addressability. From the multitude of surgical procedures, a limited number still keep their indication in the current treatment of hernias. Open surgery, the exclusive repair method until recently, is associated with laparoscopic techniques with benefits that are at least superposable on those in open repair. We conducted a study, analyzing several types of procedures in open surgery and comparing them to each other, but also with the TAPP approach, which is still at the beginning in our service. The non-mesh procedures scored poorly in terms of recurrence, the duration of the surgical intervention, and complications of the pain type, the Lichtenstein procedure was frequently associated with non-infectious inflammatory complications, and the TAPP, which is still in the learning curve, presented a prolonged duration of the surgical intervention. The Lichtenstein procedure maintains its usefulness and represents the most frequent technique for sanctioning inguinal hernia, the non-mesh processes, less used lately, are more frequently preferred in situations where hernia strangulation is associated with a septic complication. Open surgery hernia repair remains a feasible option in the era of minimal invasiveness, especially under the conditions of performing a tension-free technique, for specific categories of patients or surgical services remaining the first intention solution

Alveolar ridge preservation following tooth extraction – basic concepts

    Get PDF
After tooth extraction due different clinical situations, there are some physiological changes that include volumetric resorption of the bone, leading to changes in the dimensions and contours of the alveolar ridge that can negatively impact the aesthetic outcome of an implant or of a conventional prosthetic rehabilitation. In order to prevent and minimize adverse consequences from such dimensional changes, the present review aims to present some fundamental basis regarding alveolar ridge preservation and biomaterials used to prevent bone resorption

    Get PDF
Background: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is responsible for vital functions like mas-tication, swallowing, and suction reflex and other relational functions, like talking and phonation. The etiology of temporomandibular joint disorders is multifactorial and in-volves subjective and objective clinical symptomatology. (2) Methods: The therapy is complex and encompasses a series of methods that interconnects various medical spe-cialties. Bad habits and parafunction are risk factors that may initiate and exacerbate a temporomandibular joint pathology. This prospective study aimed to show the positive impact of correct multidisciplinary therapy on the complex of TMJ disorders - pain and bad oral behaviors. The therapy methods used in this study were: medical, prosthetic, or-thodontic, surgical, and physiotherapy (PKT). (3) Results: The data obtained showed good results if the oral habits and TMJ disorders are treated correctly and simultaneous-ly. (4) Conclusions: All therapeutical approaches addressed in this study had beneficial effects on the recovery of the temporomandibular joint
