The Possibilities of Applying QCM Method in Pulsed Mode for Investigating the Adsorption Dynamics of Volatile Compounds on Finely Dispersed Sorbents

    No full text
In this study, the possibilities of applying quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) method in pulsed mode for investigating the adsorption dynamics of volatile compounds on finely dispersed sorbents is shown. The use of piezoelectric quartz resonator (PQR) sensors with chemical coverings on the base of metal stearates or thiolates, as well as other low-inertia sensors is proposed to evaluate the concentration of gas-phase sorbate current in the flow cell of electronic nose–type sensors. These sensors are placed in the cell in parallel to the PQR with a sorbent under investigation

Studies of the Adsorption of Organic Vapours by Metal Stearates and Their Complexes with Octadecylamine in a Flow Impulse Regime by Piezoquartz Sensor Techniques

    No full text
The adsorption properties of metal (Co 2+ , Ni 2+ and Cu 2+ ) stearates and their coordination compounds with octadecylamine, as well as those of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), have been studied by piezoquartz resonator (PQR) sensor techniques in steady flow and flow impulse regimes for vapours of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), especially hydrocarbons. It was shown that the adsorption of hydrocarbon homologues onto each of the studied sensor coverings was characterized by a linear dependence between the logarithm of the Henry constant and the boiling points of the corresponding substances. Such individual linear dependencies were observed for a series of alkanes, cyclanes and aromatics. The slopes of these dependencies differed for different sensor coverings. This allowed discrimination between individual hydrocarbon analogues by using these coverings in a PQR sensor array in combination with the proposed flow impulse technique

Substituents' effect on the photophysics of trinuclear copper(I) and silver(I) pyrazolatephosphine cages

    No full text
International audienceA series of structurally similar trinuclear macrocyclic copper(I) and silver(I) pyrazolate complexes bearing various short-bite diphosphine R2PCH(Râ€Č)PR2 ligands are reported. Upon diphosphine coordination, the planar geometry of the initial complexes undergoes bending along the line between two metal atoms coordinated to the phosphorus moieties. The complexes based on dcpm ligands (R = cyclohexyl, Râ€Č = H, Ph) do not exhibit dynamic behavior in solution at room temperature on the 31P NMR time scale as it was previously observed for similar trinuclear copper complexes bearing the dppm (R = Ph, Râ€Č = H) scaffold. All copper(I) complexes exhibit thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) behavior in the solid state. Importantly, the use of aliphatic substituents on the phosphorus atoms instead of aromatic ones leads to an almost double increase in the quantum efficiency (ΊPL) of photoluminescence by eliminating nonradiative decay from the 3LCPh states of the dppm aromatic rings. The higher donating ability of the substituents in the pyrazolate ligand (CF3 vs CH3) lowers the energy of the metal-centered excited state, allowing for a significant metal impact on the T1 state. Finally, the Ag(I) complex displays an emission efficiency of approximately 14%, being the highest among known trinuclear silver(I) pyrazolate homometallic derivatives

    Searches for CP violation in the decays D(s)+→ηπ+ {D}_{(s)}^{+}\to \eta {\pi}^{+} and D(s)+→ηâ€Čπ+ {D}_{(s)}^{+}\to {\eta}^{\prime }{\pi}^{+} are performed using pp collision data corresponding to 6 fb−1^{−1} of integrated luminosity collected by the LHCb experiment. The calibration channels D(s)+→ϕπ+ {D}_{(s)}^{+}\to \phi {\pi}^{+} are used to remove production and detection asymmetries. The resulting CP-violating asymmetries areACP=(D+→ηπ+)=(0.34±0.66±0.16±0.05)%,ACP=(Ds+→ηπ+)=(0.32±0.51±0.12)%,ACP=(D+→ηâ€Čπ+)=(0.49±0.18±0.06±0.05)%,ACP=(Ds+→ηâ€Čπ+)=(0.01±0.12±0.08)%, {\displaystyle \begin{array}{l}{\mathcal{A}}^{CP}=\left({D}^{+}\to \eta {\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(0.34\pm 0.66\pm 0.16\pm 0.05\right)\%,\\ {}{\mathcal{A}}^{CP}=\left({D}_s^{+}\to \eta {\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(0.32\pm 0.51\pm 0.12\right)\%,\\ {}\begin{array}{l}{\mathcal{A}}^{CP}=\left({D}^{+}\to {\eta}^{\prime }{\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(0.49\pm 0.18\pm 0.06\pm 0.05\right)\%,\\ {}{\mathcal{A}}^{CP}=\left({D}_s^{+}\to {\eta}^{\prime }{\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(0.01\pm 0.12\pm 0.08\right)\%,\end{array}\end{array}} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third, relevant for the D+^{+} channels, is due to the uncertainty on ACP=(D+→ϕπ+) {\mathcal{A}}^{CP}=\left({D}^{+}\to \phi {\pi}^{+}\right) . Observation of the Bs0 ⁣→D∗+D∗−B^0_s\!\to D^{*+}D^{*-} decay

    No full text
International audienceThe first observation of the Bs0 {B}_s^0 → D∗+^{∗+}D∗−^{∗−} decay and the measurement of its branching ratio relative to the B0^{0}→ D∗+^{∗+}D∗−^{∗−} decay are presented. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1^{−1} of proton-proton collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV between 2011 and 2018. The decay is observed with more than 10 standard deviations and the time-integrated ratio of branching fractions is determined to beB(Bs0→D∗+D∗−)B(B0→D∗+D∗−)=0.269±0.032±0.011±0.008, \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}_s^0\to {D}^{\ast +}{D}^{\ast -}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {D}^{\ast +}{D}^{\ast -}\right)}=0.269\pm 0.032\pm 0.011\pm 0.008, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third due to the uncertainty of the fragmentation fraction ratio fs_{s}/fd_{d}. The Bs0 {B}_s^0 → D∗+^{*+}D∗−^{*−} branching fraction is calculated to beB(Bs0→D∗+D∗−)=(2.15±0.26±0.09±0.06±0.16)×10−4, \mathcal{B}\left({B}_s^0\to {D}^{\ast +}{D}^{\ast -}\right)=\left(2.15\pm 0.26\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.16\right)\times {10}^{-4}, where the fourth uncertainty is due to the B0^{0}→ D∗+^{*+}D∗−^{*−} branching fraction. These results are calculated using the average Bs0 {B}_s^0 meson lifetime in simulation. Correction factors are reported for scenarios where either a purely heavy or a purely light Bs0 {B}_s^0 eigenstate is considered.[graphic not available: see fulltext

Search for D∗(2007)0→Ό+Ό−D^{*}(2007)^0\to\mu^+\mu^- in B−→π−Ό+Ό−B^-\to\pi^-\mu^+\mu^- decays

    No full text
International audienceThe very rare D∗(2007)0→Ό+Ό−D^{*}(2007)^0\to\mu^+\mu^- decay is searched for by analysing B−→π−Ό+Ό−B^-\to\pi^-\mu^+\mu^- decays. The analysis uses a sample of beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1^{-1}. The signal signature corresponds to simultaneous peaks in the ÎŒ+Ό−\mu^+\mu^- and π−Ό+Ό−\pi^-\mu^+\mu^- invariant masses. No evidence for an excess of events over background is observed and an upper limit is set on the branching fraction of the decay at B(D∗(2007)0→Ό+Ό−)<2.6×10−8{\cal B}(D^{*}(2007)^0\to\mu^+\mu^-) < 2.6\times 10^{-8} at 90%90\% confidence level. This is the first limit on the branching fraction of D∗(2007)0→Ό+Ό−D^{*}(2007)^0\to\mu^+\mu^- decays and the most stringent limit on D∗(2007)0D^{*}(2007)^0 decays to leptonic final states. The analysis is the first search for a rare charm-meson decay exploiting production via beauty decays
