Towards a modern approach in teaching and learning the subjects of informatics in pre-university education
Nowadays Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been recognizedto be an effective educational technology which promotes dramatic changes in the teaching and learning processes. In the pre-university studies generally ICT tools have been used and taught but not informatics as a scientific discipline with its own concepts and methods. To outline and analyze the current situation of teaching the subject of informatics inpre-university studies, a questionnaire has been compiled to survey the opinions of the students about the way and quality that the subjects of informatics have been taught, the competences of the teachers, the curricula of the subjects and the laboratory conditions.Data from the questionnaire have been collected from the students of the first and secondyears from the main universities of Tirana, Vlora, Elbasan, Shkodra and Korca and fromthe pupils and teachers from the main high schools in Tirana. The curriculum of the subjects of informatics, interviews, observations, practices and methodologies used in the developed countries have been analyzed to draw the conclusions
Design and development of the curriculum for master of sciences in teacher of informatics
Teaching and learning of the subject of Informatics in pre-university educationis as important as teaching and learning of other scientific subjects, but taking intoaccount the dynamics of change and the broad areas of its implementation, it requiresdifferent methodologies and special attention. The completion of the knowledge so far,for pedagogical staff of Informatics, was conducted by sporadic individual or organizedtrainings. A master of science for teacher in Informatics, which provide to the teachers ofthis discipline the necessary knowledge and skills for the development of this subject indifferent cycles of the study, does not currently exist in our country
Towards a Modular Recommender System for Research Papers written in Albanian
In the recent years there has been an increase in scientific papers
publications in Albania and its neighboring countries that have large
communities of Albanian speaking researchers. Many of these papers are written
in Albanian. It is a very time consuming task to find papers related to the
researchers' work, because there is no concrete system that facilitates this
process. In this paper we present the design of a modular intelligent search
system for articles written in Albanian. The main part of it is the recommender
module that facilitates searching by providing relevant articles to the users
(in comparison with a given one). We used a cosine similarity based heuristics
that differentiates the importance of term frequencies based on their location
in the article. We did not notice big differences on the recommendation results
when using different combinations of the importance factors of the keywords,
title, abstract and body. We got similar results when using only the title and
abstract in comparison with the other combinations. Because we got fairly good
results in this initial approach, we believe that similar recommender systems
for documents written in Albanian can be build also in contexts not related to
scientific publishing.Comment: 8 page
multiple antimicrobial resistance among avian escherichia coli strains in albania
In this study, 101 Escherichia (E.) coli isolates from broilers, laying hens and turkeys which had died from colibacillosis, collected from 37 intensive and rural farms in Albania, were tested for antimicrobial susceptibility toward 12 different molecules. The highest levels of resistance were observed for Erythromycin (E) (100%) Amoxicillin (AMX) (99.1%), Tetracycline (TE 30) (96.07%), Streptomycin (STR) (93.07%) and Neomycin (N30) (85.15%). Considerable resistance was also detected for fluoroquinolones. Moreover, 73.33% of E. coli resistant to at least one fluoroquinolone were also resistant to the two other fluoroquinolones checked. No evident differences were found between the E. coli from intensive and from rural farms. Multiple antibiotic resistance was expressed by all the E. coli tested. 23.63% and 17.39% of E. coli isolated from intensive and rural farms, respectively, were resistant towards all the drugs tested. These data would seem to indicate incorrect use of antibiotics on poultry farms in Albania
Epidemiological Study of 1368 Cases of Surgical Repair for Traumatic Peripheral Nerve Injury.
Traumatic injury of the peripheral nerves should be treated in specialized centres. This study presents the epidemiological data of 1368 consecutive patients operated for peripheral nerve injuries beside the Service of neurosurgery, Department of Neurosciences, UHC "Mother Theresa", Tirana. In order to obtain the necessary data for this study we revised the clinical records, surgical registers and pre, intra and postoperative photo/video of the cases operated for peripheral nervous system injuries. A data recording program of the surgery cases was built ad hoc, categorizing the cases according to several variables. The data collected from the operated cases were manually inserted to be processed by the program. Results of informatics elaboration of the data were obtained, reviewed and categorized by: age, gender, type of trauma, localization of injury and type of nerve repair. Future studies to be conducted in this field will focus in determining the level of nerve injury, time from the injury to intervention, distance from the site of trauma to the effector organ. The data will build necessary information for data mining, which based on these important factors that influence the result of nerve repair, will be useful for the prediction of the result in new patients harbouring peripheral nerve injury before undergoing surgery
