SEAGRID: A New Dynamic Modelling Tool for Power System Analysis of Ocean Energy Devices
International audienceAs the ocean energy industry approaches commercial readiness, there will be a greater focus on integration of ocean energy devices (OEDs) into the electrical power system network. Device developers will be required to provide dynamic models of their device for grid connection, and ensure their device operates within the limits laid out in the grid code. Project developers will need to assess the impact of different wavefarm configurations, ratings for the electrical equipment, power losses, and performance during a fault. Grid operators will require dynamic models to investigate the impact an OED will have on the grid and also for future grid planning studies. The SEAGRID dynamic modelling tool attempts to address each of these issues using its generic modelling approach. The SEAGRID model is capable of producing a scalable time domain power system dynamic model using empirical test data and component specifications, bypassing the need for a full hydrodynamic study of the device
Comparing Cigarette-Cue Attentional Bias Between People With HIV/Aids and People With Opioid Use Disorder Who Smoke
BACKGROUND: Special populations like people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and people with opioid use disorder (OUD) smoke tobacco cigarettes at rates three to four times greater than the general population. Patients with tobacco use disorder exhibit attentional bias (AB) for cigarette cues. Eye tracking can quantify this bias by measuring fixation time (FT) on cigarette and matched neutral cues, to calculate an AB score. Although previous studies have measured this bias in people who smoke without any other comorbid conditions, no study, to our knowledge, has measured or compared this bias in special populations.
METHODS: We performed exploratory analyses on eye tracking data collected in two separate randomized clinical trials (RCTs) (NCT05049460, NCT05295953). We compared FT and cigarette-cue AB score (measured by subtracting FT on neutral cues from FT on cigarette cues) between PLWHA and people with OUD who smoke, using a visual probe task and Tobii Pro Fusion eye tracker. We used two cigarette cue types, one encompassing people smoking cigarettes and the other consisting of cigarette paraphernalia. We used two cue presentation times, 1000 and 2000 milliseconds (ms).
RESULTS: Cues of people smoking cigarettes elicited greater AB than cues of cigarette paraphernalia across both subject groups when cues were presented for 2000 ms, but not 1000 ms. PLWHA who smoke exhibited greater AB for cues of people smoking cigarettes than cigarette paraphernalia when presented for 2000 ms compared to people with OUD who smoke.
CONCLUSION: We use cigarette-cue AB to quantify craving and cigarette consumption in two populations smoking at elevated rates. The addition of social cues potentiates cigarette cue AB, based on cue type and stimulus presentation time. Understanding the neurobiology of this relationship can help design novel smoking cessation treatments that target AB and prevent relapse in these populations with suboptimal response to smoking cessation treatments.

ZFIRE: The Evolution of the Stellar Mass Tully-Fisher Relation to Redshift 2.0 < Z < 2.5 with MOSFIRE
Using observations made with MOSFIRE on Keck I as part of the ZFIRE survey,
we present the stellar mass Tully-Fisher relation at 2.0 < z < 2.5. The sample
was drawn from a stellar mass limited, Ks-band selected catalog from ZFOURGE
over the CANDELS area in the COSMOS field. We model the shear of the Halpha
emission line to derive rotational velocities at 2.2X the scale radius of an
exponential disk (V2.2). We correct for the blurring effect of a
two-dimensional PSF and the fact that the MOSFIRE PSF is better approximated by
a Moffat than a Gaussian, which is more typically assumed for natural seeing.
We find for the Tully-Fisher relation at 2.0 < z < 2.5 that logV2.2 =(2.18 +/-
0.051)+(0.193 +/- 0.108)(logM/Msun - 10) and infer an evolution of the
zeropoint of Delta M/Msun = -0.25 +/- 0.16 dex or Delta M/Msun = -0.39 +/- 0.21
dex compared to z = 0 when adopting a fixed slope of 0.29 or 1/4.5,
respectively. We also derive the alternative kinematic estimator S0.5, with a
best-fit relation logS0.5 =(2.06 +/- 0.032)+(0.211 +/- 0.086)(logM/Msun - 10),
and infer an evolution of Delta M/Msun= -0.45 +/- 0.13 dex compared to z < 1.2
if we adopt a fixed slope. We investigate and review various systematics,
ranging from PSF effects, projection effects, systematics related to stellar
mass derivation, selection biases and slope. We find that discrepancies between
the various literature values are reduced when taking these into account. Our
observations correspond well with the gradual evolution predicted by

Design of aluminum stabilized superconductor for tokamak toroidal field coils
A design study on an Al-stabilized 10-12T tokamak toroidal field-coil cooled with pool boiling LHe is presented. Relevant factors considered include the mechanical properties of pure aluminium, the degradation in resistivity due to neutron irradiation, the selection and cofiguration of the reinforcement materials, and the overall stability of the conductor. Updated results of the experiment E94-107 hypernuclear spectroscopy in Hall A
of the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab), are
presented. The experiment provides high resolution spectra of excitation energy
for 12B_\Lambda, 16N_\Lambda, and 9Li_\Lambda hypernuclei obtained by
electroproduction of strangeness. A new theoretical calculation for
12B_\Lambda, final results for 16N_\Lambda, and discussion of the preliminary

Stability analysis of NbTi-Ta-based high field conductor cooled by pool boiling below 4 K
Stability analysis has been performed for cabled NbTi-Ta-based superconductors intended for the high field (12 T) toroidal field coils for a large scale tokamak device such as ETF. Ternary NbTi-Ta was selected as the superconductor because of its superior critical current density at high field as compared to the binary alloy NbTi. The operating temperature was chosen to be 2.5 K or below to optimize the performance of the superconductor. A cabled conductor was selected to minimize the pulsed field losses. The conductor is cooled by pool boiling in a subcooled (approx. 2.5 K, 0.25 atm) bath, or in a superfluid helium (He-II) bath (approx. 1.8 K, 0.02 atm). The analysis was based on numerically simulating the evolution of a normal zone in the conductor. Appropriate superconductor properties and heat transfer characteristics were utilized in the simulation

Measurement of stability of cabled conductors cooled by He I at reduced temperature, or He II
Stability tests of cabled NbTi alloy conductor are underway at the General Atomic High Field Test Facility, in support of the Team One effort of the DOE 12 Tesla Coil Development Program. A background field of up to 10 tesla within a 20 cm bore is provided by a nested pair of 4.2/sup 0/K bath cooled NbTi coils. An insulated bore insert tube (coldfinger) is provided in order to perform heat pulse/recovery tests of coiled samples in cooling regimes anticipated for the 1 m O.D. coil to be tested at the LLNL 12 tesla facility during FY 82. Specifically, tests are being performed in the 2.5 to 3/sup 0/K He I, and saturated superfluid (He II) regimes. The testing apparatus, procedures, and initial results are presented
