Turismo rural en el ANP insurgente Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla: impactos y estrategias para la conservación ambiental

    Get PDF

Khintchine types of translated coordinate hyperplanes

There has been great interest in developing a theory of “Khintchine types” for manifolds embedded in Euclidean space, and considerable progress has been made for curved manifolds. We treat the case of translates of coordinate hyperplanes, decidedly flat manifolds. In our main results, we fix the value of one coordinate in Euclidean space and describe the set of points in the fiber over that fixed coordinate that are rationally approximable at a given rate. We identify translated coordinate hyperplanes for which there is a dichotomy as in Khintchine's Theorem: the set of rationally approximable points is null or full, according to the convergence or divergence of the series associated to the desired rate of approximation

Why Further Development of ADR in Latin America Makes Sense: The Venezuelan Model

    Get PDF
This paper argues that Venezuelan society would benefit from further development of ADR. Part II will provide an overview of the main problems affecting the Venezuelan judiciary, part III will provide a background of ADR in the country, part IV will identify the main challenges the field has to overcome, part V will propose a different approach, and part VI will present the conclusion

Influence of Concrete Compressive Strength on Transfer and Development Lengths of Prestressed Concrete

    Get PDF
This research examines the relationship between concrete compressive strength and strand bond. The goal of this research was to develop an equation that relates strand bond to concrete compressive strength at strand release (approximately 1 day of age) and at 28 days of age, and those equations are presented in this investigation. Strand bond is assessed by measuring the transfer length and development length for prestressed beams cast in the laboratory. In the U.S., strand bond is predicted using transfer length and development length equations provided by the American Concrete Institute (ACI-318) Building Code and American Association of State and Highway Transportation Official (AASHTO) LRFD Bridge Design Specifications which were developed based on the 1950´s investigations. The equations provided by both ACI and AASHTO do not address concrete strength while equations, developed in this investigation, do account for the compressive strength of concrete at release and testing time. Although there has been much research conducted in this matter, this research provides a reliability data analysis relating to transfer and development lengths of prestressed concrete beams. Unlike many of the previous programs, this research includes strands of a known quality, the largest database of test specimens, and a variety of concrete mixtures and concrete strengths. This research concludes with the development of an analytical model to predict transfer length which includes concrete strength at release with fracture propagation around the strand

Aquatic Stage Mosquito Biocontrol: Effects of Entomopathogenic Fungi Blastospores and Conidia on \u3ci\u3eAedes aegypti\u3c/i\u3e Pupae

Fungal entomopathogens present an opportunity to produce mosquito controls on-site, from remote locations to developing communities. Locally produced biopesticides have the potential to empower communities to develop internal disease vector control initiatives to protect local public health. We tested the effectiveness of the conidia solution and blastospore solution of Metarhizium anisopliae E9, Metarhizium anisopliae E1037, Isaria fumosorosea A97, and Isaria fumosorosea 9901 in controlling Aedes aegypti pupae. We observed that entomopathogenic fungi liquid blastospore solution induce mortality in Aedes aegypti pupae at a significantly greater rate than conidia solution and control treatment. However, further analysis of testing methods used in this study reveal that results may be an inaccurate representation of the fungi’s effect on mosquito pupae
