Sard's approximation processes and oblique projections

Minimal hermitian matrices with fixed entries outside the diagonal

We survey some results concerning the problem of finding the complex hermitian matrix or matrices of least supremum norm with variable diagonal. Some qualitative general results are given and more specific descriptions are shown for the 3 x 3 case. Oblique projections and frames

We characterize those frames on a Hilbert space H which can be represented as the image of an orthonormal basis by an oblique projection defined on an extension K of H. We show that all frames with infinite excess, and frame bounds 1 ≤ A ≤ B,are of this type. New Perspectives on Treatment of Hepatitis B Before and After Liver Transplantation

open5noThe hepatitis B virus (HBV) infects more than 260 million people globally, with increasing incidence, especially in developing countries. Despite antiviral therapies, HBV-related end-stage liver disease remains one of the most important indications for liver transplantation worldwide. Although new available treatments have improved the outcome of patients with both compensated and decompensated liver disease in some specific clinical settings as acute-on-chronic liver failure mortality is still high. Moreover, the incidence of HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) seems to be increasing and represents a major challenge for the transplant team. In the post-transplant setting, combination of anti-HBV immunoglobulins and oral nucleos(t)ides provided significant improvement on graft and patient survival. Furthermore, recent data suggested the possibility of personalized therapeutic algorithms based on pre and post-transplant viral and host risk factors. Finally, liver grafts from HBV core antibody (anti-HBc) positive or hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) donors can be safely used in order to expand the donor pool, considering adequate allocation and tailored prophylaxis after LT. Minimal matrices and the corresponding minimal curves on flag manifolds in low dimension

In general C*-algebras, elements with minimal norm in some equivalence class are introduced and characterized. We study the set of minimal hermitian matrices, in the case where the C*-algebra consists of 3 × 3 complex matrices, and the quotient is taken by the subalgebra of diagonal matrices. We thoroughly study the set of minimal matrices particularly because of its relation to the geometric problem of finding minimal curves in flag manifolds. For the flag manifold of 'four mutually orthogonal complex lines' in C4, it is shown that there are infinitely many minimal curves joining arbitrarily close points. In the case of the flag manifold of 'three mutually orthogonal complex lines' in C3, we show that the phenomenon of multiple minimal curves joining arbitrarily close points does not occur.Fil: Andruchow, Esteban. Braided module and comodule algebras, Galois extensions and elements of trace 1

Let k be a field and let H be a rigid braided Hopf k-algebra. In this paper we continue the study of the theory of braided Hopf crossed products began in [J.A. Guccione, J.J. Guccione, Theory of braided Hopf crossed products, J. Algebra 261 (2003) 54-101].
