The magical I mystic genesis of my poetry may be seen better if first my work is absorbed. My poems are not the type to be intellectualized but, like primitive art, their ideas are felt rather than rationalized. The psychoanalytic content or poetry of personal relationships contributes lyric energy to the work. The reader should be able to experience the imagery, the singing of words but, also feel the ideas as they speak to the reader\u27s subconscious. The poet may become an instrument of change because of the directness of communi- . cation the poetry makes. When the reader attempts to rationalize my poetry the subliminal content, by being pushed into a plane that it does not function on, becomes extremely difficult to understand. Minimalism and art-cinema narration in Gus Van Sant's Gerry, Elephant, and Last Days

    Get PDF
Though Gus Van Sanfs best known films-My Own Private Idaho and Good Will Hunting-have earned critical acclaim and commercial success, the focus of this thesis is a trilogy of films made in the first decade of the twenty first century. Gerry, Elephant, and Last Days form a stylistic trilogy that replaces conventional filmmaking's emphasis on plot and character development in the construction of film narrative with a minimalist style of cinematography that defies viewer expectations. Working against the tradition of a plot constructed around a psychologically motivated, causal chain of events, Van Sant instead offers very little in terms of conflict and other readily identifiable components of generic plot including character motivation. Though Elephant won the best picture and best director awards at the Cannes Film Festival, these three films have been either largely ignored or heavily criticized as miserable failures.</p

Re-socialization within organizations: Examining the socialization and job satisfaction of employees following an organizational transition

    No full text
When an employee joins an organization, they can typically expect to experience the socialization process within their first year of employment. Now more than ever, companies are hiring from within to retain their core employees and maintain a strong culture, leading to employees transitioning between departments or geographic locations. However, it is unclear whether employees are experiencing socialization following those organizational transitions, which could impact their job satisfaction and organizations’ employee retention rates. This qualitative study interviewed ten individuals regarding their recent organizational transition, their socialization after their transition, and their job satisfaction before and after their transition. The goal of this study is to determine how socialization is occurring following an organizational transition, and what the impact of that re-socialization is on employee job satisfaction
