The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of the aqueous crude extract of Olea europaea on serum glucose level and histopathological changes in islets of Langerhans in an induced-diabetic mellitus in mice. The experimental recommended 60 male mice were divided into three groups contained 20 mice each. The fi rst group was the control and they were given normal saline pH 7.0. The second group was intraperitoneally injected by a dose of 100mg/Kg of STZ and 10% glucose instead of normal drinking water over the 24 hours followed the treatment. The third group was injected intraperitoneally with 100mg/kg STZ and orally given 0.33g/ Kg aqueous extract of olive leaves everyday for four weeks. Blood specimens were collected, and the serum separated and stored at 4OC until it is used. The animals were dissected and the pancreatic tissues were obtained, the tissue specimens were fi xed in the Boun’s solution for 24 hr, and processed for histological studies. There was a signifi cant increase in blood glucose level of the STZ- diabetic mice by the fi rst week of injection with STZ in comparison with control group. A signifi cant decrease in blood glucose level occurred in the STZ-diabetic group treated with Olea europaea aqueous extract. Islets of langerhans are hypertrophied in the STZ-diabetic group and this hypertrophy showed a signifi cant increased in the average of islets size at the last week, while the treatment with Olea europaea aqueous extract showed a reduction of the islet size compared with the islets of the STZ –diabetic Mic

Global technological transformations predict the birth of new societies based on knowledge and qualitative elements of production within an accelerated digital environment, which calls for a review of various educational strategies to keep pace with the high dynamism in the business sectors. Therefore, the research aims to shed light on the digital gap between the educational outputs of the media faculties and the leading sector in the Jordanian market. The article adopted the inductive method based on observation and comparison of the results of previous literature and official reports. The article concluded that despite the great development that Jordan has reached in facing the digital gap between the educational outputs in the media colleges and the leading sector in the Jordanian market, it still suffers from this gap, so efforts must be made to reduce the size of this gap and get rid of it once and for all. Jordan to an advanced rank, and increased interest in the leadership sector to achieve progress and development in this field. The researcher recommended the need to rebuild the educational curricula in the media colleges so that leadership and creativity are a basic nucleus in them

DISTINCT PHENOTYPIC CHANGES BY PACAP AND VIP IN LIPOPOLYSACCHARIDE STIMULATED BV2 MICROGLIAL CELLS

Background: Aberrant microglial activation plays a key role in the progressive neuronal loss seen in many neurodegenerative diseases. PACAP and VIP are two neuropeptides that elicit robust immunosuppressive functions within the CNS. However, the underlying mechanisms through which these peptides regulate microglia activities are not clear. Aim & Objectives: Using lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to induce BV2 microglial cell polarisation, we aimed at testing whether and how administration of either PACAP or VIP could differentially affect microglial pro-inflammatory profile, polarisation state and morphological appearance to elicit immunosuppressive effects. Methods: Quantitative real-time PCR, Western blot, Griess reactions, immunofluorescence and morphological analyses were conducted in order to determine the effects of PACAP and VIP in BV2 microglial cells exposed or not to 1µg/ml LPS. Results: Our data demonstrated that both PACAP and VIP reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells. We also found that exogenous administration of PACAP and VIP rescued the dysregulations of the endogenous PACAP/VIP levels and attenuated the expression of microglial activation markers caused by LPS. Interestingly, despite the similar anti-inflammatory activities of PACAP and VIP, PACAP mainly reduced the number of M1 polarised cells, whereas VIP acted by increasing the subpopulation of cells exhibiting an ‘intermediate’ phenotype/bipolar-shaped (p<0.001 vs. control), at the expenses of resting/rounded cells. Conclusion: PACAP and VIP both possess immunosuppressive effects in activated BV2 microglial cells, but these effects seem to involve the differential shift of certain cell subpopulations towards distinctive phenotypes

© 2018 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland. Following peripheral nerve injury, dysregulations of certain non-coding microRNAs (miRNAs) occur in Schwann cells. Whether these alterations are the result of local inflammation and/or correlate with perturbations in the expression profile of the protective vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP)/pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) system is currently unknown. To address these issues, we aimed at profiling the expression of selected miRNAs in the rat RT4 Schwann cell line. Cells exposed to lipopolysaccharide (LPS), to mimic the local inflammatory milieu, were appraised by real-time qPCR, Western blot and ELISAs. We found that upon LPS treatment, levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, -6, -18, -17A, MCP-1 and TNFα) increased in a time-dependent manner. Unexpectedly, the expression levels of VIP and PACAP were also increased. Conversely, levels of VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors were reduced. Downregulated miRNAs included miR-181b, -145, -27a, -340 and -132 whereas upregulated ones were miR-21, -206, -146a, -34a, -155, -204 and -29a, respectively. Regression analyses revealed that a subset of the identified miRNAs inversely correlated with the expression of VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors. In conclusion, these findings identified a novel subset of miRNAs that are dysregulated by immune challenge whose activities might elicit a regulatory function on the VIP/PACAP system

Security algorithms like RSA are becoming increasingly important for communications to provide companies, organizations, and users around the world, secure applications who rely heavily on them in their daily work. Security algorithms use different acquaintances among companies which might belong to various countries or even cities. Such data should essentially be encrypted to make sure that there is security in transportation. Thus, the current research paper leads to the novel system of security for the safe transfer of data. This paper examines the general principles of encryption and focuses on the development of RSA and the complexity of the encryption key so that it becomes more secure in the applications used. In this project, we will work on the RSA algorithm by adding some complexity to the 3keys (3k). This addition will increase the security and complexity of the algorithm's speed while maintaining encryption and decryption time. The paper also presents an approach by means of public key encryption to enhance cryptographic security. Moreover, double security is provided by the algorithm of RSA. This novel RSA algorithm was investigated in MATLAB. Numerical results for the various parameters such as Mean Square Error (MSE), correlation and Bit Error Ratio (BER) were implemented for the encryption of the message. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed algorithm for 3 keys has small error rate in the retrieval of the encoded text
