Under the light of the importance of finding smart solutions for cities strategic issues and in conjunction with the broad race for urban development in order to provide the best living environment and the most appropriate tourist destination, Mobility Management occupies the first place among these issues. Due to the variation in the urban fabric of cities, especially the old historical neighborhoods that are unique in their nature, composition, and conditions for their preservation, challenges related to mobility management raised in these critical areas. Therefore, in this study, we present a smart suggestion to solve the problem of providing smart parking system in Shindagha Historical District in Dubai, that has recently been revived to be the largest open museum in world. This project includes the provision of a smart parking system, studied thoughtfully across the urban and logistical conditions, determinants of urban fabric with respecting the identity of this region, which is linked to a smart tourism guidance system based on a live data platform derived from the museums and facilities that exist in this neighborhood. Moreover, this project contains a smart proposal of current public parking, in order to provide smooth and fast parking in areas with reducing the needed time to find a parking. The proposed solution will be a source of income for the city in the parking management sector. The objectives of the proposed study revolve around shortening the time spent to find a parking in the crowded areas, limiting traffic congestion, planning dynamic path of vehicle movement, reducing unnecessary energy consumption, reducing environmental pollution and gases emissions, maximizing the exploitation of the resources and facilities available in it, and organizing the movement of masses under conditions maintaining security and safety, as proposed models have been suggested for the studied area, with consideration of suitability of the design to the main purpose of the solution, best methods of construction, logistical elements and special conditions. Data have been drawn from the relevant official authorities in Dubai and according to a work methodology based on algorithms of possible occurrences, estimated queue lengths in transport impact analysis and SWOT analysis, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of those proposed smart solutions to lead to the best, smartest and most sustainable model for managing parking lots and masses congestions in such distinctive neighborhoods

The study aims to identify the reality of management of electronic documents and electronic archiving retirement in the Palestinian Pension Agency -analytical study, as well as to recognize the reality of the current document management system in the Palestinian Pension Agency. The study found the following results: that the reality of the current system for the management of documents in the agency is weak and suffers from many jams. Employee in the agency understand the importance and benefits of the management of electronic documents system, where the application of electronic document management system provide important features and benefits most of which reduce the loss of documents between departments, illustrates the flow path, the speed, accuracy, transparency, and reduce the proportion of damage and destruction of files. Furthermore, the electronic documents system cost will be less than the cost of the current system and it will reduce the tasks assigned for the staff. The existence of a clear adoption of the agency for the policies and procedures established for the application of electronic documents management system. There are weak plans for training and developing of staff in the agency to raise their efficiency. The study found a set of recommendations, including: increased interest and awareness of the need to implement policies, mechanisms, and procedures to ensure the success of electronic document management system through benefiting from the experiences of other organizations and the private sector. The agency need to increase and develop its services for retirees in order to encourage the private sector, universities, and institutions to join the agency, and open the way for all segments of society in Gaza and West Bank and enhance its competitiveness between international social security institutions. The need to focus its attention on developing and publishing appropriate clear plans and specific goals about management of electronic documents and the agency should be committed to apply them. The need to focus on the establishment of a public management of archiving in the structure dealing with all technical operations and having competent and qualified employees in the field of electronic document management. The need to focus on the Palestinian National Archives and the follow-up with the international standards by the International Council Archives (ICA)

    Sweet Solution Analgesia

    Get PDF
Mammals’ first tasting experience is usually sweet solution. Whether it is milk (breast or formula), sugar water as in some cultures or even dates as advocated by Prophet Mohammed to his followers. Thus, it is no wonder the soothing, calming and even pain relieving effects of oral sweet solutions. Nevertheless, using sweet solution purposely for its pain-relieving effects for infants in the clinical setting is relatively recent; however, the discussion concerning sweet solution effectiveness, mechanism of actions and adverse long-term effects are still ongoing. In this chapter, we present an account of studies on both humans and animals that explored and examined the use of several sweet solutions for analgesia

Deuterium Distribution in Fe/V Multi-Layered Films

    Get PDF
The recent progress of Atom Probe Tomography (APT) has opened up atomic-scale elemental analysis including hydrogen species. For APT measurements, the use of deuterium is highly recommended, due to its low mobility compared to the fast and quantum mechanically tunneling isotope hydrogen. In addition, deuterium can be distinguished from hydrogen originating from the APT analysis chamber. To date, however, APT studies on materials with high D concentrations are scarce. In this study, the D concentration profile in a Fe/V multi-layered film sample was investigated, and spanned a wide concentration range. The mean hydrogen isotope concentration was alternatively quantified by electromotive force (EMF) measurements on a similar Fe/V film, thus verifying the APT results. The reduction found in the D concentration at the Fe/V interface results from local alloying at the Fe/V interfaces which accompanies a change in the available volume in the V lattice. Even at the same Fe concentration, the shape of the observed D depth profile was asymmetric at high D2_2 pressures. This indicates a stress impact caused by the deposition sequence

Using Particle Swarm Optimization to Determine the Optimal Strata Boundaries

Stratified random sampling is a commonly used sampling methodology especially for heterogeneous populations with outliers. Stratified sampling is preferably employed due to its capability of improving statistical precision by yielding a smaller variance of the estimator, compared with simple random sampling. In order to reduce the variance of the estimator in stratified sampling, the problems of stratum boundary determination and sample allocation must be resolved initially. This paper proposes a PSO algorithm to solving the problem of stratum boundary determination in heterogeneous populations while distributing the sample size according to Neyman allocation method. The PSO algorithm is tested on two groups of populations and a comparative study with Kozak, GA and Delanius and Hodges methods have been implemented. The numerical results show the ability of the proposed algorithm to find the optimal stratified boundaries for a set of standard populations and various standard test functions compared with other algorithms

Persistent Hiccups After Cervical Epidural Steroid Injection.

BACKGROUND Hiccup is a rare complication after a cervical epidural steroid injection used in the treatment of chronic pain. A few studies have reported on the physiological and pharmacological aspects of hiccups after epidural steroid injection and there have been some case reports published. Our presented case report provides insight into the side effect of hiccups that can occur in association with cervical epidural analgesia, and will help inform anesthesiologist about this unpleasant complication. CASE REPORT We present a rare case of persistent hiccups after a cervical epidural steroid injection in a 60-year-old male patient with chronic pain due to disc protrusion in C3-C7. CONCLUSIONS Persistent hiccups after epidural injection is a serious complication. As the exact mechanism of hiccups is not yet known, regardless the level of epidural or the mixture of drugs used, and the incident of hiccups after epidural injection is not well-reported, we think that the etiology and the incident rate must be further evaluated

THE EFFECT OF SOME MACROECONOMIC VARIABLES ON STOCK MARKET MOVEMENT IN IRAQ

    Get PDF
Regarding the effect of macroeconomic variables such as money supply and interest rate on stock prices, the efficient market hypothesis suggests that competition among the profit-maximizing investors in an efficient market will ensure that all the relevant information currently known about changes in macroeconomic variables are fully reflected in current stock prices, some of these relevant information (explanatory variables) may have interrelation (collinearity). In regression analysis, multicollinearity refers to a high strength correlation among the explanatory variables. Thus, the ordinary least squares (OLS) are unreliable because of the violation of the independence assumption of the explanatory variables. The high dependency in explanatory variables will cause huge value in the standard errors of parameter estimates and thus, OLS is no longer appropriate to be employed in modeling the data. The most popular method used to overcome this problem is ridge regression. A numerical example of stock market price and macroeconomic variables in Iraq is employed using both methods to investigate the relationship of the variables in the presence of multicollinearity in the data set. The variables of interest are consumer price index (CPI), gross domestic product (GDP), base lending rate (BLR), and money supply (M1). The obtained findings show that the ridge regression method can estimate the model and produce reliable results by reducing the effect of multicollinearity in the data set. It is concluded that there is a relationship between macroeconomic variables (CPI, GDP, BLR and M1) and stock prices in the Iraqi stock market ISE, and that these variables account 98.5% of the change in ISE
